I know your adept to most strings in the tennis world just a stringer passing on some infomation. Hvae you heard of Tyger? If not I hadnt either but I tried out of a few of their strings and they are great. If you like the ALU Power Rough you should give their Polytwister a try is very similar it holds its tension for longer and is alot better value, Just a little info for you there :)
Any info on stringing business advice would be great thank you :)
It is certainly ok to do so. I don't though. It is a very stiff, non-elastic string, so a pre-stretch won't really do much good in my opinion. Take care.
I am trying to experiment with my strings a little bit. I am not a big hitter but I hit with a decent amount of top. I want a little but more power but still want the control. Right now I am using the Wilson synthetic gut 16. Pretty cheap string but that actually seems to be working for me, the only down side is that they seem to break pretty quick. Any strings that you suggest that might work for my style of play (baseliner that still wants to be able to go to the net)?
@AtharvVij You might want to try a hybrid with co-poly mains and multifilament crosses. The co-poly mains will allow you to gain even more topspin (if you have a fast racquet head speed on your topspin-producing groundstrokes) and will give you some control. The multi crosses will give you power and touch/feel for when you come to the net - and will soften the overall stringbed. Take care.
@darrmulv You can't really go wrong with either. I personally would choose Champions Choice because it contains Luxilon Alu Power Rough - which is my all-time favorite string. With that said, RPM Blast is known to be an outstanding string that is getting a ton of use on the pro tour and by the general public. Take care.
I really enjoyed this video it helps me a lot. However, I was wondering what would be the big difference if the luxilon string was strung in the mains with nxt 17 in the crosses or nxt 17 in the mains with luxilon rough in the crosses? Thank you!
@shaybay111 I'm glad my video was enjoyable and helpful - that's why I do this Inspired Tennis gig - to help players and stringers. The general rule of thumb for a hybrid string job is that the stringbed takes on more of the characteristics of the mains than the crosses. So in your example, if u put NXT in the mains, the stringbed should play closer to a full bed of NXT - as opposed to a full bed of Alu. The best thing to do is try it both ways and see which setup you like best.
@sahilcc7 There really isn't a string that is "better". It all boils down to personal preference & how a string suits your style of play, durability needs, & budget. Both of these strings are high-end co-poly strings that sell very well & are used a many touring pros. Luxilon Alu Power is the most used string on the pro tour. Babolat RPM Blast is the 4th best selling string (1st best selling co-poly string) at tennis specialty store in 2011 so far. You can't go wrong with either one.
@sahilcc7 Continued... I have not played with RPM Blast yet - just strung it for some clients. I love Alu Power. In fact, my all-time favorite string (for my game) is Luxilon Alu Power Rough. For me, this string helps me generate massive spin. Take care.
Thank you so much. Good review! I just broke my strings today, im 13 years old and tennis everyday. I only had my strings for 2 weeks and they busted! I realized I had a to high tension for my type of racket and strings. I was using Ph tour for crosses and xcel strings for mains. I'm looking to try these strings. Do you reccomend them for the Babolat Aero Pro Team racket? Thanks
@Candymanzzzzzzzz Thanks for the kind words - glad you liked the review. I don't believe that certain types of strings go w certain types of racquets - I think string selection should b based on your style of play, if u have any arm problems or not, & your budget. I have a video about selecting strings - check it out. If u have fast racquet head speed & take big, full swings on your groundies, then u might like Alu Power Rough. Just know, it will lose playability and tension fairly quickly.
@Spid3rPig No - sorry. I've been trying other new strings as they come out & also been sticking w/ my Alu Power Rough. The softest poly I've tried 2 date is Luxilon M2. According 2 Lux, it has the "All the advantages of a multifilament & a monofilament in one string." I didn't love it though - as I love the solid, crispness of a harder poly like Alu. I am hoping 2 receive a sample soon of Tec. X Code - which should b similar 2 M2... a multifilament made w/ polyester strands/filaments.
@Spid3rPig pro line ii are awesome string, if you get 16g, its a little hard to get spin but just get 17g and your good. Holds tension excellently. Does not die fast and does not die fast
How much did your stringing machine cost? I am going to open a tennis store in Gainesville FL and I was wondering should I buy the stringing machine that you have or should I buy Babolat 5 star or Wilson Baraido?
@Utopia569 First of all, congrats on your plans to open a tennis store in Gainesville! Very cool. Secondly, having a really nice machine is very important: 1.) It will make stringing very enjoyable and 2.) It will create a little bit of "wow" factor for people who walk in your store - adding to your credibility as a tennis and stringing expert. Thirdly, I will send you a message through YouTube with the answers to your questions - too much to cover here in a comment. Take care. DH
I've been trying to convince one of my pals that ALU Rough is an outstanding string compared to other polys and he just keeps on saying that strings barely effect your game! Ha! I think that's ridiculous because I broke my ALU Rough last week and I didn't have anymore packs so I had to buy a pack of normal ALU power and there is an amazing difference! I just sent him this video on facebook and I am very glad someone feels as ecstatic as I do about this string.
@SnoboSnow Thanks for the comment. Yeah... I always say that strings make such a big difference - BIG DIFFERENCE! People spend so much time on picking the perfect racquet, and while a racquet is VERY important, if tennis is played properly, the strings are the only thing that touches the ball. :-) I think Alu (normal) is a great string, but I'll choose Alu Rough over it any day of the week. Take care. DH

What in a good control, low power string in Luxilon company?
crazyphilly555 7 months ago
@crazyphilly555 They are all pretty much good control with low power. With that said, you may want to try Big Banger Original.
