  • Lucky bastard !

  • A lot better arcs than the mot that you are using to ballast it :)

  • awesome! i wish i had one!

  • holy crap! what are these things used for anyway?

  • @zker666 Basically they're used to lower the ground potential between a meter and an energized line. Ex you could use a 240 volt meter to measure a 24000 Volt power line if you put a 23760 (24000-240) volt potential transformer in series with the ground for the meter.

  • did you run a variac in parrelel with the ballast?

  • that wouldnt do anything of much, that would also short, destroy the variac. It has to be in series

  • you should consider building a jacobs ladder instead of just dragging the arc by hand. Its quite a lot of fun to watch the arcs rising due to their own heat they produce.

Sometimes if the arc current is strong enough and when it has the right form at the top shortly before the gap gets too large to support the current flowing, you can also see small balls of plasma separating from it.

The power of your devices seems to fit the needs for a pretty impressive one.

  • Oookay I'm reviewing your vid happy now? Oh and Shusuke I'm still waiting for you to answer my queston.

  • Wow this is HUGE. Can you lift it with hands?

I guess it will be good to 3-5Kva!

  • Cool transformer!
