I don't see why it's so under rated. This movie was just incredible! The director should have a oscar for it. Nowadays there are too many directors that just use the same shit over and over again, and they can't even catch the magic of the 1st one. The director did a great job, making a postman as important as this is just incredible, I just can't find the right words to describe this fantastic movie!

The story of the film is among the most fascinating Ive seen. But this is kind of underrated movie, because there were many characters I liked. I enjoyed alot this movie, but what really screwed up the movie was the ending. Costner could have done a better ending than the predictable one. If not for the ending, this would probably be one of the most exciting movies ever done.

This movie did deserve to get better reviews and become bigger and even better than either "Titanic" or "The Lost World" OR "MIB (Men in Black)". ...If it was done with a better director like Steven Spielberg and still starred Kevin Costner and instead of having Will Patton as the villian, but have either Billy Bob Thornton or someone in that nature do Patton's part. the black kid mercury actually brought back the postal service and the post man was a fake but kept on doing it because he saw how it spread and most of them where kids and end up getting shot. this is the first movie ive ever seen to have a kid shot in the head and the back and 4 other kids shot and left hanging by i rope by there feet.

the black kid mercury was the kid that actually saved the world if you think about it. postman was trying but to have like 200 other postmen when the postman got near that town. he thought it was a fake rumor . but to see how mercury spread the postal service so much the real postman had to step in and take up after that one town when he lied to mercury about being an actual postman and gave him a fake job as being a post man. and mercury actually brought back the postal service lol.

he day this came out, titanic was playing, which was pretty predictable and i fell asleep in, left and caught the postman. Olivia Williams, friend of a friend is in it, and then saw it several times later, 9 in all, and yes, read the book, but interesting to figure out how the world fucked up, and see how it got back and became better. still love to watch it, hate titanic by the way, what a piece of shite!

This movie was crap... but the book it (supposedly) was adapted from was a GREAT read!! So much was left out of the movie that explained things which would have been incomprehensible unless you read the book first.

Costner is a bit of a lightweight, directing a movie with a heavyweight subject line. He really hasn't made anything decent since No Way Out, Field of Dreams and Dances with Wolves.

I don't like how the Holonists are portrayed as "Nazis" hating ppl of different 'races'...the fact that the villain in this movie was a painter, just like Hitler was, makes the message in this movie: America vs Nazism..

and deathwarrant, the Holnists are not Nazis, but their so called "philosophy" is that there are strong people and weak people, and that the strong are held down by the propaganda of the weak. And if you read the book, there's a LOT they left out. Like Cyclops, or the whole war with the so called "Slavic Mystics" which is half the reason the country is in such a state. They switched other things around, and made the Squire of Sugarloaf Mountain into a much smaller character.

well of course they aren't Nazis, but their ideology looks much like Fascism. You're probably right that the book is better than the film, in most cases that is true. But the way Costner made this movie, the Holnists reminds me too much of Nazis...too many paralell lines

This movie definitely deserved better! How This trailor didn't get people to wanna see the movie I dunno! Even with the bad reviews you would have figured that this movie would have made more money than it did!
