There is no way, on heaven, earth or hell, in any way shape or form that Slayer could ever even Hope to be as heavy, doom laden or viciously brutal as Burning WItch. Now don't get me wrong, i love SLayer, have seen em live and they kick butt. But Burning WItch are just in a different league of brutality. They do not compare.
@orkeimmortal i think slayer is a bit more intense, and definitely more technical than this band. By my definition, though, this is heavier, about as heavy as it comes man.
@Panasper I honestly don't think you understand the extremely technical nature of playing this slow. You have to be a MASTER of patience, timing and anticipation.
@possibleninja yeah you're probably right... i can barely play guitar, so my understanding of technical and musical aspects is mainly theoretical lol... i know subjectively i find music like this way heavier and enjoyable than thrash.
@Cheesepuffs414 I disagree. The only difference is the absence of tremolo picking and less synthesized atmosphere, but that's all done through the amps. The slowness is there in a lot of BM songs.
What?! Have you ever listened to Black Sabbath's self-titeled song from the debut album? Came out 1970 and it's the purest doom you can get. So tell me a band that played thrash metal before 1970...

what the heck are you talking about both of you! both began in the 1980's anyhting before thAt that sounds doom or thrash might have a slight sound of them but doesnt mean they are thrash or doom! learn ur metal
Basic doom origins began with black sabbath, and thrash's origins are being disputed. Like Venom, Queen, Judas Priest, Deep Purple, Leather Charm, or Panic.
@Megadethrules1200 but there is no way that deep purple or queen were thrash, that's ridiculous...Motorhead, possibly an early or 'proto-' thrash band...I get annoyed when there is so much dispute over who the first heavy metal band was - was it blue cheer, iron butterfly, Bachman Turner Overdrive etc. ...that's bollocks - everyone knows it was black sabbath...that first album is still one of the heaviest (in the true sense) albums around
I never said deep purple or queen were thrash. what I meant was they preformed music that inspired the genre to a certain extent. Therefore the genre's origin of the genre may lie with them. Does that mean they were apart of the genre itself? No, of course not.

from my point of view this is pretty good but just the fact that some people said they rejected all other forms of metal i dont like that because in comparison if black metal didnt exist this wouldnt exist
@Xegethra come on, how much is really influenced by that? Plenty of musicians have seen the sense in just picking up an electric guitar and teaching themselves instead of just imitating others...I know the likes of black sabbath were influenced by blues, but post-punk, for example, which was a huge influence on metal - what was that influenced by? I don't think you can make that generalization about every type of music
Yeah, a lot of people would be surprised how hard it is to play so slow. Especially when it's a weird time signature, and all of the instruments need to hit the same notes at the same time.
wow this is like the 10th repeat :o. this band helps me release ALOT of built up anger and frustration. thanks burning witch

@Megadethrules1200 Could it be possible that punk and thrash might be related to each other?
bigAshizzle 1 year ago
@bigAshizzle yes. motorhead caused them both. or at least they come from a similar impetus, if they are expressed somewhat differently.
Panasper 1 year ago
no it didn't, black sabbath, saint vitus and Pagan Alter, and Pentagramn are examples of doom metal that formed before ANY thrash band.

I believe they hold the record for the slowest beats per minute in a song and the entire band at one point 30 beats per minute total
IronMaidenBWC 3 years ago 4
playing excessively slow and still precise is actually very difficult, with a metronome it's a lot easier, but concentration is still an issue.
