@RubyHart23 Good luck! :) You'll be fine. The first few days arnt so good but it gets better each day! My recovery is going well. I still have swelling but no pain, only a bit of tingling. Its weird not having feeling in parts of your face but you get used to it and the feeling comes back in a few weeks anyway.

@peacexluvxhugz Just got an ortho that said braces will fix me as well. My underbite isn't that bad and a good bite moves the lower jack backward a bit. Thank god for braces.
@LatestUFOSightings My ortho had me wear this prebraces appliance to push the upper teeth forward. It effed up my speech completely. It was supposed to be worn 24/7 except I hated it SO MUCH I just stopped wearing it altogether. But what really helped was this elastic that connects all my lower teeth. Wow it hurt me like CRAZY but made the correction in 1 week o.O Yeah seriously... so glad i decided to go for braces :))))
How much does this operation costs? I want to do this surgery,but unfortunately in my country do not do :(( I must go in Israel or somewhere to do this operation.
@RubyHart23 well, it`s not over yet, my case was a complicated one, don`t know, maybe there`ll be some operations more but still I must confess that I look better than before the surgery. I too have an underbite class 3, how long are you scheduled to have your braces on for? Hope everything goes well. You mentioned your mum and grandmother having an underbite. my mum and dad don't but they're common on my dad's side, (both siblings). Is there any way of preventing my kids from having this, i would hate them to gow up with the same problems as i have god it sucks.
@prodigalpresidium Hey :) i have to have my brace on around 2 years, ive had my bottom brace on for around 7-8 months now and have just had my top brace fitted. i think there are ways in which you can prevent an underbite but you would have to ask your dentist/authodontist. Also just because you have a underbite does not mean that your child would, my sister hasn't got an underbite :)

I had an underbite too.
And i just refused to get surgery.
SO my orthodontist suggested trying to correct as much as he could with braces.
It took about a year to push the bottom teeth behind... but there really is no way to describe my happiness.
Its also changed the contour of my face and my face doesn't look like someone smashed it in anymore. :D

i just had 2 jaw surgery 5 days ago. everything is going good so far. it sucks not eating hard food but w/e. mouth is wired shut for another 4 weeks.
