So, her Spanish wasn't perfect (she made a career of SINGING in Spanish, btw, kthx) but she was obviously good enough to have people overlook those mistakes, because when you're a good person, you consider a person's whole package. I am so not hating - she is my all time idol - I have more than 1000 videos saved of her on youtube and all her CD's - I just always have wondered why no one points it out. i live next to spanish speaking people and sometimes they mess up on speaking because they get to speaking so fast it comes out miss pronounced so try listening a little closer to her songs before you try correcting.

The interest in her culture to learn Spanish. People make mistakes in any language. Look at the way you wrote your comments without any correct punctuation marks anywhere. Also, the word "alot" is "a lot". Two seperate words. Do you expect the whole English speaking world to dismiss your knowledge because of that?
Also, the fact that a person could dominate in a language that wasn't their first language is phenomenal! Plus, with the way these Spanish speakers speak English they definitely have NO room to talk. i think she's the only singer that could dance & sing good at the same time she's one of a kind there could never be another selena..Rip Selena will be 15yrs the end of march that she's been gone & her & her music still lives on....i have a 6 & 3 yr. old lil girls & they love selena they even wanna go to her museum n texas...i think it's cute i watched selena's movie over & over when i was a lil girl & now my girls watch it & we listen to her music almost everyday! Oh, my goodness! You're just hating, aren't you? So, her Spanish wasn't perfect (she made a career of SINGING in Spanish, btw, kthx) but she was obviously good enough to have people overlook those mistakes, because when you're a good person, you consider a person's whole package. The truth is, she's accomplished more than you ever will in your entire lifetime, so if it makes you feel better to criticize those insignificant mistakes, then go right ahead.

I am so not hating - she is my all time idol - I have more than 1000 videos saved of her on youtube and all her CD's - I just always have wondered why no one points it out. It doesn't make me feel GOOD - it's just a question - it always made me wonder. It truly is the whole package that makes you look aside.

i live next to spanish speaking people and sometimes they mess up on speaking because they get to speaking so fast it comes out miss pronounced so try listening a little closer to her songs before you try correcting.
i think she does a good job for someone who had to learn spanish so fast at a young age.

Of all the exaggerations of Selena's mispronunciations I only heard one and that was the exagerrated "r" in "marchito". And you are half right. This Mexican girl did not make a career out of singing in Spanish. This Mexican-American girl made a huge living out of singing in Spanish. That may be one of the reasons people admire her so much. @livinluxuriously I forgot where I left off but people knew that she was learning Spanish as she was starting her career and that may be one of the things that people loved about her. The interest in her culture to learn Spanish. People make mistakes in any language. Look at the way you wrote your comments without any correct punctuation marks anywhere. Also, the word "alot" is "a lot". Two seperate words. Do you expect the whole English speaking world to dismiss your knowledge because of that?

Also, the fact that a person could dominate in a language that wasn't their first language is phenomenal! Plus, with the way these Spanish speakers speak English they definitely have NO room to talk. So what's wrong with Selena saying "Se Marrechito" compared to a native Spanish speaker saying "Orale pues huey no manches" How is that remotely proper? Just some food for thought. But Selena is and always will be awesome! In the end I think her natural talent and charisma is what attracted us all.

She sounded a little off here but even with not singing her best it was still better then ANYONE in the English market today (2009) she is a legend and had she lived she'd be the same legend she is in death she just had everything it took but the most important thing that Selena had was the love for what she did and who she did it for may God rest her talented loving soul!
