  • And that's the first sign for the end of the world. The time stopped.

No no. That waves are amazing. I've never seen a natural penomenon like this. I call that... "cool" :D

  • Im guessing that there are waves breaking onto the shore and when there water seperates from the sea it instantly freezes from the temperature outside... and because water expands when it freezes it pushes itself up onto the land creating what is happening... Just a theory though, don't flame me if you think its stupid haha.

  • No, masses of water like that cannot instantly freeze on the shore. That only hapens with sparse amounts of water. Thrown into a mist like from a water fall. The river is just frozen over, a tide is coming in and pushing the ice onto the shore with masses of force.

  • it's really windy and the big sheet of ice that is floating freely after the spring thaw started, is being pushed against the shore.

  • @Surferdude117 i understand that after my sciance lessoen

  • hmmm 4:04 is that guy wearin shorts? hmm everyone else has jackets and pants on but this lone bad ass... i think its "iceland"hahah i have no clue it just sounded good.. and how the hell did the shitter last all these yrs?

  • omg its foaming sticky white stuff

i blame the fish for doing each other to hard...

  • Its a conspiracy I tells you!

  • weird! i want to go over there

  • never saw this before. nice to view it in a safe warm home.

  • nature is beautifull eh

  • It's salt water slob ice being pushed ashore. It happens most often when tides pushed sheets of thinly frozen sea ice onto the shore. It can happen under several conditions such as getting a warmer day after several cold days and the ice is not yet thick enough to withstand the warmer temperatures and the tides push it onto the shore. Or in the spring when the salt water ice is almost finished thawing the tides or wind can push it ashore.

  • I was actually wondering about that. Thanks, this was actually very informative. :)

    Thanks.

    (no sarcasm)

  • It's sad that we have to put disclaimers in our compliments so people know were being nice. (no sarcasm)

  • @borealrider1 it is still cool though

  • @borealrider1 That's really interesting.

  • @borealrider1 i was hoping someone smart like you would explain what the fuck was going on i was so confused

  • @borealrider1 not sure what "salt water slob ice" is, but I can tell you that this exact thing happens on just about every lake that freezes over in winter. If the entire surface of the lake isn't covered with ice, wind can push the ice sheet across open water until it hits shore, where it piles up. It's usually not this dramatic. Calling it an "ice wave" is a bit misleading, we usually refer to it as "shore ice".

  • By Jesus, Its good to be a newfie.

  • holy crap man thats sweeett

  • Something similar to this happened in a town near where I live. In Sylvan Lake Alberta a big chuck of ice rose up onto the pier it was pretty sweet I think the whole town saw it at some point.

  • I would imagine this normally happens at night?

  • it's newfoundland...and it's perfectally normal here...looks cool tho!

  • hahaa..cool

  • get clued up dip shit \/

  • omg!!! the frost demons are coming RUN RUN RUN RUN!!!!!

(lol) no serious this is amazing : )

  • lol

  • it's satanic

  • great

  • theres your "hot ice" in effect being displayed in nature ;)

  • how many degrees whas it?

  • waters so cold so when it goes up and more oxygen goes into it it turns to ice

  • oxygen? why does water need oxygen to turn into ice? And if it is, the surface should be completely frozen. I think the reason is that air temperature was -30C for example, while water temperature was 1C, not cold enough to turn into ice.

  • They probably just opened a dam at a lake that was frozen. The ice is just moving up on land.

  • Global Warming

  • or its nature dumbass

  • Sarcasm, buddy.

  • well then im sorry ( no hard feelings) under my voice (pussy)

  • I have never seen anything like this. I am baffled.

  • wow thats beautiful one question though i just dont realy get how the waves freeze if theyre moving.. great video 5/5 =)

  • Me me we we boo boo me me woo woo me me mee woo bar boo me boo ma

  • i don't quite understand whats going on here

  • The sub ice water is still atempting to undulate like a normal wave and upon entering the shore line from under the ice will freeze and "heap up" in such extreme low temperatures.

  • 1:11 ice was peeing x3

  • i dont get it?

    how is that?

  • becasue you know how you go to a lake and the vaves come ashore? well thats the same just with the water pushing ice lol

  • oh wow..

i just realized that i don't have an imagination what so ever

  • That's amazing! It must have been REALLY cold out. Did you see the guy in shorts!

Anyone know where this vid was shot?

  • do a pee

  • Fuckin Sweet

  • ¡¡¡¡¡fantastico este espectaculo!!!!!!

  • it happens because wen i ice berg collapses the ice travles acrosse the water n i obv hit land so it will end up piulling up

  • ARE YOU STUPID?!?!?!

the surface of the water is frozen, winds and water current is pushing it to the coast, up and over. Not an iceberg

  • and here i am complaining that Australia's beaches are to cold at the moment......

    where is this neway?

  • now thats amazing thsi should have more views that 24,000

  • This is hard to watch. The camera person couldn't decide where to point, so he tries to capture everything at once by panning back and forth and zooming in and out too quickly. Makes me seasick.

  • ice has a very large surface area. When the wind blows across the surface of the ice (in the spring) the ice actually starts moving. When it hits shore the ice will pile up on top of itself ...so it is not that the water is freezing in mid wave it is just the ice behind being pushed forward.

  • Hmm.. don't wanna go swimming in there.

  • omg!! how did that happed?!?!?!

  • Natural supercooling, wow, this is amazing, tnx global warming, now we must care about instant frozen waves.........in a lake.......Holy shit

  • thats so weird

    but cool

  • WOW AMAZING!

  • why is that happining?

  • What you are seeing is a mini version of how the alps and large mountains were formed. Tectonic plates collided, pushing up the earth into mnts, and there you have it.

    Only on a larger scale.

  • is that supposed to happen. is that normal???

  • Is that a good sign?

  • thats pretty cool !!

  • o diooos!!!!

  • Where in the world is this?

  • Nice interesting post! But, have you seen what happens if you put diamonds in a blender? Check it out blend.lostfrog 'dot' com

  • sick!

  • That's crazy!

  • from the looks of it, there is nothing warm about it

  • its nt global warming , ITS JUST COLD ...

  • Freaking scary more like it! --Global Warming
