Notice the jazz device of the horn solos at the end? The guy (trombone) goes first, the lady (trumpet) answers, and then they combine in a duet.. Magical stuff...
@bsharpinLondon I think it was because he was laughing@ Jimmy because it may have been Jimmy's mike was on the fritz and Robert and Jimmy-it's my understanding-share the same sense of humor. If you watch Jimmy he's really having to work at it. And Robert, Jason and Keith are laughing towards the end. Plus it was live in A&E.
0Man if you play keyboards and bass this could be the best of all times...vocals for sure but man dioes this jell all together, it gives me peace and happiness...not much brass around nowadays but the brass is astonishing....peace in your opinions I love playing this song on bass!
@schoettler1819 Yeah he was always my favorite too from the very start. And I've only seen hair like that on my husband ...who was born in late '42. A few years older than Robert. Plus the songs Bobby-the songs he's written! The Catalogue both as a member of the band and solo work. I put him right up there w/Macca and let's not forget Jimmy Pankow. He's written great ones too.
DAM MAN !!! WHAT A DAM SHAME - ONLY 2 OF THE "ORIGINAL Chicago left in this Vid - BUT GREAT TRACK & VID MAN !! ONLY 2 ORIGINALS: Bobby Lamm doing Lead Vocal & Guitar (?? - He's normally Keyboard !!) & Jimmy Pankow on Trombone !! SAD TO SEE SUCH A GR8 BAND DIE, MAN !!!
@CADIEUXGR Don't forget Lee Loughnane on trumpet and Walt Parazaider-who founded the band back in 1967. They've all been there since the very " Beginnings."
@CADIEUXGR AS Elvis would say, 'Thank you.Thank you very much.' Chicago ROCKS SO MUCH MORE THOUGH-especially Bobby Lamm. But thanks. Just been a longtime devoted fan for 40 plus years.
@libralady1010 LOL - BACKATCHA !!!! I didn't recognize them - especially Walt !! I guess they are getting older...??? GOOD THING I'M NOT !! ;-) I had always thought that Terry Kath had started the band (?), guess NOT !!! Thx again for straightening me out !!!
@libralady1010 Yo Libralady ??, (I'm libra too), So What do you think ?? Was Terry Kath an "Accident" or Suicide ?? I still remember hearing that being reported on the morning news :( And do you know where I could find some "Proof" ??
@CADIEUXGR Think it was an accident...really do. Terry had a young daughter and wife and along w/Walt and Danny Seraphine, being the first to play music together with the band that would become Chicago. He'd taken the clip out and thought it didn't have one rounded chamber left in it. It just went off and tragedy struck. He was only 31 years old. Had a lot of living to do. No. I don't think it was a suicide. Think it was a tragic accident.
@libralady1010 TYVM Again. That's what I was thinking also. But you're RIGHT, EITHER WAY, IT WAS VERY TRAGIC !!! It's Truly AMAZING how many lives he touched & probably didn't even realize !
@CADIEUXGR There's a book called ' Feelin Stronger Every Day,' by Ben Strong. It starts from when the guys were small kids and how music influenced their lives. I think it ends around the time of 2000. I think you can find it online and it's only about seven or eight dollars. It's a good read.
@libralady1010 REALLY ??? WOW - I never heard of that, but I am going to start searching RIGHT NOW !!! WOW - I'M A "VERY HUGE" Chicago Fan, and as a teen was listening to them, while everyone else was talking about Zepplin & those guys, BUT NOT ME THO - & I TOTALLY LOVE that "Behind the music" kinda stuff - AGAIN TYVM !!! YOU ARE A VERY WONDERFUL RESOURCE !!!!PLZ, anything else you have PLZ throw my way !! TYVM, Glen
@CADIEUXGR I TAKE THAT BACK !!! LIBRAlady's got it RIGHT !!! well that's better !! So: Lamm, Pankow, Loughnane, & Parazaidier !!! TYVM libralady !! u KNOW UR "CHICAGO" !! I only saw jusa "quick FLASH" of Lee at the "Beginning" !!
Bobby has the ultra fine hair-that's the deal breaker for me! Always has been aside from being the best looking of the band GREAT HAIR and GREAT VOICE!
@CADIEUXGR Nothing against Peter but he's " parachuting down the back. of the head" Aside from my S.O, I've NEVER seen such a great head of hair on someone his age. [ My S.O is a year older ] and the songs Bobby -the SONGS HE'S WRITTEN, plus that VOICE. He has a very smooth baritone when he sings as well as when he's speaking. Wrote half of that 1st album that started them on them on.
And still think so. Plus being the brains-I mean who can write music like this, Begiinnings, DARKWTII, SITP, etc., and sing it in the same way-GREAT-30 plus years later!
Robert sang this song to all of his fans in Paris, and more cities in Europe, this summer 2008! Even better LIVE than here! His looks are also STILL awesome! I'm his BIGGEST fan since 1968!
Robert Lamm has the best voice! Besides these Chicago hits, I love to hear him sing "The Charlie Brown Christmas Song: Christmas Time is Here." Chicago's rendition was perfect and so moving.
Lamm's the man! Jimmy Trombone is a marvelous arranger-all the horns are GREAT!- but always thought Lamm was the peaceful one who tried to and achieved perfection. Also holding the Band together...and the brains as well as looks!
I agree with you Lola...I think I was 9 or 10 years old when this song came out - My mom had they're records and kept playing them over and over - but wow - Robert was - and probably still is - a very sexy man with a great voice...
I'm surprise we haven't seen another band with a horn section besides Chicago and Blood, Sweat, & Tears. I love it, want more of it! Then again, what group is worthy of a horn section today? I can't think of any.
Chicago kicks ass! Tight!
Robert is THE only original voice left...
