Just a small question : I have an Etrac 15" SEF combo as well - the tone you had on that 11:44 was very low, any chance of sharing your settings ? I just run TTF MAINLY
I think in this video I was using the preset 'relics' program but I can't remember for sure. The best one I've found so far is the 'roman site' pattern which can be downloaded from the minelab website. It seems to go deep and have great audio - I ignore all deep tones. I always use that one now and it gets better results. The 18" x 15" coil helps with depth and I run sensitivity as high as I can - getting deeper with every dig now.
The old coins trully are monsters. The 'cartwheel penny' of George III is a full ounce of copper and the cartwheel twopenny is two onces. Can't miss those with a detector!
I'm glad you mentioned "why" you think the reason for the coins. I'm still looking for that lost piece of land that people used as "something" back in the day and they all dropped silvers coins everywhere. Nice vid!!!
Ha! I think you have found the long lost Hexhamshire bank vault...It certainly looks as you have found a good site...when that many coins abound there's sure to be as ring or two...happy hunting..
I've found one cheapo silver ring but there are bound to be more. I'm finding ways to get even deeper with the etrac so it should continue to produce coins etc. for quite a while yet.
I am planning to do a video about deep detecting which will have detector sound as the sound is more important than the screen display in that situation.
To clean pennies and copper coins here in the US I use Hydrogen Peroxide, heated in a microwave about 1-2 minutes and then drop coins into that solution. You could also heat the solution and pour into a shallow pan or dish so you can watch the action as the surface crud is lifted away from the coin. Works best if you allow each coin to be worked on front and rear facing up.
I normally use a soft brass brush (bit like a toothbrush) to remove the tarnish on silver coins then rub them with a cloth and 'silvo' to prolong the shine. Copper coins I normally don't bother as I tend to destroy them. I haven't found a reliable way to clean copper ones yet.
great site you got there,,nice finds,,if you get a good silver coin and dont want to clean it,try folding a piece of tin foil, place the coin between the fold and rub them over the coin ,,this will high-light the legend, and will not damage you find,,works well on hammereds...ohh sorry..lol
Some of the guys in the club use the foil trick on silver roman coind but spit in it first, The chemical reaction produces a strange smell but removes the tarnish really well.
Been back to the site today so another video will follow....
My collection is very limited compared to most of the guys in the club but I'm getting there. I'll do a vid toward the end of the year about what I've found since I started a few months ago.

They are shooting gloves so the thumb and finger folds back. I should really have them folded down to stop me getting mucky finger ends. lol.

I'll give that a go as some of the copper coins I find have good detail but are destroyed by rubbing.
Thanks, man.

@pondguru Have you tried using a paste of salt and acetic acid?
aopdjasldksa 4 months ago
I have used vinegar and salt but it tends to tarnish the copper - haven't tried it on silver though.
