I know I'm going to get killed for this, but I still have not found one You Tube video where a Mesa Boogie sounds much different or better than my $275 Vox VT30. I'm serious. In fact I prefer my own settings in the Vox, and it covers the same range of sounds. It seems to be more about how you make fine adjustments and how you play. Maybe the Boogie sounds a lot better live in person? OK kill me now....
@Savatage420@Savatage420 I'm not sure if you've made a purchase yet but I thought I'd chime in...the answer is hard. Both of these amps do these genres very well. It basically comes to do you want the Recto or Mark sound and the Roadster's extra channel. When it comes down to it a Mark amp will simply not do the Recto chugga chugga stuff but a Recto will take pedals and eq'ing to get it to sound great on leads, like a Mark would normally. I have a Mark V and I'm purchasing a Roadster soon...
@Savatage420 and in my opinion they're just too different to compare in terms of which is better. While both amps are both Boogie and sound like it they are as different as a Marshall and Fender. I play metal, blues, and rock and LOVE the Mark for this but I feel that the Recto does them as well except when it comes to metal the Roadster is great for chugga and slower metal and the Mark V is better for faster, trashier stuff.
Sold a Marshall DSL 50 and a Fender Twin Amp and bought this amp. Love it! Covers anything from country on up to metal. I had looked at the Bogner Ecstasy but ended up liking this better at a much lower cost. Only downside to me is that I like Marshall distortion; Boogie tends to squish theirs a little too much for me on the high gain side. I also had a Solo Rec years ago and it was an incredible amp and super reliable. Never a problem in five years.
Buy the amp and ride a bike or take public transportation. You will help the environment, get exercise, and get an awesome amp. I see no downside with that option.
Try an EQ pedal in the effects loop to cut some mids... you can get a sound similar to Justice or Puppetz at that point. It isn't exact, but you will be very satisfied. I am :)
This is one of the demos that convinced me to go for a Mesa Boogie Roadster instead of a Kustom Double Cross or Engl Powerball. Well, this, and some of the Roadster + Tubescreamer videos on the net.
Hi everyone. I'm debating on whether to get the roadster or the Mark V. Of course as to which one is better is subjective but does anyone have experience or comments as to the differences or pros and cons of the the two.
ive had the dual rec for 2 years and gigged super heavy with it its FANTASTIC the mark series however from what ive heard when other people in other bands atc have used it it sounds a bit smoother an the cleans are a big plus if u wanna rock out an like thick low end oomph get the dual rec
Great Amp! I just purchased one... before I owned Mark IV, but unfortunately my apartment got robbed... so I was left without that amp and few guitars. Mark V came out this year, and for the same amount of money (3200€) I choose Roadster. No regrets. (I would like to have Mark V too... when I save up some more money)
I suppose with one (1x12) speaker is around that price range 2800-3000€, the model with 2 speakers (2x12) is in Germany 3222€, as well in Austria too.
man i hate to tell you mesa guys, but for metal tone, i think the 6505+ definately owns this shit!

@kriskardiak How difficult is it to maintain the amp? With quite regular playing how long can I expect the amp to go on without needing new tubes?
