but if we look at the lyrics (english translation) it relates to a to town with nobody like the ocean at night

Uhh.... Ningyo Hime actually translates to "Doll princess." Not "Mermaid princess"

Ningyo = Doll

Hime = Princess

@dappleback your right and wrong as they both translate to ningyo but there is a difference doll is Ningyō and mermaid is ningyo so in this context it is mermaid but you can still say its doll

@dappleback if you look on wikipedia, Ningyo literally translates into "human-fish." This term was widely used in Japanese folk-stories. But, another wikipedia article says that a type of doll called Shiori Ningyo translates into "Big Sister Dolls." So, the user before was correct in stating that you could either translate it as doll or mermaid.
