A joy to listen and to watch. My favorite aspect is how through even the fastest and most difficult passages, you remain relaxed and your hands do not tense up.
I cant stop watching this artist! For me is the best interpretation.. clear, light in every note, makes it bright and generous. GIFTED! I wonder if I can get his interpretations in CD.
Mr. Romanov, just a tiny little bit faster, and you got it. Practice blind playing the whole score in slow speed, many times preferrably in the night. Focus on sound, on melody, listen to Claudio Arrau.
Your technique is impeccable, you can master all of Liszt, but to be successful globally you need to work on communicating your vision of Liszt.
You can become a true avatar of Franz Liszt, but you have to work on your soul level. I can help you to get there.
I do. I also compose music. The fact that I have only self-help on my channel so far doesn't mean I am doing *only* that. I have self-produced 46 CDs with my own music, piano, relaxation and New Age. I also have taught piano to children, using my own method. Besides I give advice to pianists on musical interpretation, was sought after mostly by Koreans and Taiwanese, on how to interpret Schubert and other German composers. Having a brilliant technique doesn't mean to be per se a good musician.
I disagree, his speed was fine as it was. In fact for the 5th one, it might have been even a little too fast. Just because they're etudes of virtuosity doesn't mean play as fast and as impressive as possible.
he's lucky he has big hands plus fantastic technique! :(:(:( my hands are too small compared to him. he plays this with ease while i have to struggle to reach some notes......
I thought the fifth Paganini etude was just La Chasse? Not La Chasse Neige. That's the 12th transcendental etude, I think. Oh well, it doesn't matter, this is such a wonderful interpretation of this piece. It's so delicate and it just takes you to another world. I think I want to play this for my senior solo! Thank you Dmitrij for being so wonderful at what you do!
amazing playing. to the people who posted asking why Liszt rewrote these works to make them easier the answer is quite simple they were to hard for any other pianist to play. There are perhaps 3 pianist alive today that can play the original versions. A highly recommended read is Great Pianist from Mozart to the Present by Schoenberg... Read it well worth the time and it is a enjoyable read as well...
it is so sad that some people here pretend to know something on music when they are completely stupid and mad people ashamed of their playing! stop criticizing when you are ignorant bravo you are a great player!
General consensus is that numbers 3 and 4 are the easiest to play, while 6 is the hardest, followed by 3 and then 1. I learned La Campanella when i was 13, and only now (i'm 18) have i decided to learn the other 5, and oh holy fuck, if those two are meant to be the two easiest, this could be difficult...
I'm 3 years old and can play Totentanz while sleeping and the Paganini Etudes. I learned all of the Hungarian Rhapsodies in one night while blindfolded. I can also play all the Transcendental Etudes backwards. My hands reach 4 octaves which makes la campanella a walk in the park.

Kudos to you then on your performance, very enjoyable
Well, I like this tempo as well, but you have to realize this piece is based off of a violin piece. The violin piece goes considerably faster, so it's not at all wrong to play this at a faster piece because that would be more in line with the spirit of what Paganini had in mind.
yea, but kissin was a little imature in that vid... i heard him with the Emperor concerto live :) at bucharest's enescu festival and it was pretty cool !!!
Is it not "forbidden" to look at the keys while playing? Of course he seems to be a professional pianist but still... Isn't it bad to watch the keys, especially when ur a beginner?
I'm surprised. This is excellent playing. It is flowing yet incredibly energetic. Frankly, I have heard netter recordings, but none of them were this comfortable and only very few were as fluid.
you know, i even dare to say this is better than Kissin's... it is not ideal, but it's more calculated and with less mistakes than Kissin's... like it...
