I think Will still cares about his mom despite what he says or how angry he is. If he didn't care about his mother, then coming out wouldn't be such a big deal. He wouldn't care what she thought of his sexuality. And he knows that his friends wouldn't care about it.
Even though Will has issues with Sami, he still loves her.
@csm1025 i dont think its just about coming out to his mom, its accepting himself. i dont think he likes these feelings one bit. i think that right now he is only starting to think about coming out because before it was all just purely not understanding what was going on in his life. he hasn't accepted himself, how could he possibly want someone else to accept him if he hasnt?
You make a good point. He does seem uncomfortable in his own skin at times. But I think with the acceptance of his friends (which they will definitely give) and Sonny's help, he'll learn to accept himself and love himself. Maybe when all of that is done, he can repair his relationship with his mother.

This is so sad, it totally makes it look like people who struggle with same sex attraction (who don't won't it) have no hope. In other words, you have no choice because although the little magic gay gene has yet to be found, you have to believe what's politically correct. You can change, it is possible with the appropriate counseling and therapy. You DO have a choice. @wowoak I'm not gonna hate on you, but I'm am gonna hate your message. This has been said, in one way or another, for centuries - and it is such an untruth that does so much damage. We don't need to find a gay gene in order to know how healthy it is for human beings to accept their own emotions.
@PABWECG Having UNWANTED sexual attractions towards the same sex is something that should be given a little more consideration than what we're giving young adults today. To tell them that they were born that way when we well know that hasn't been proven should make everyone cringe. We're basically lying to them and encouraging them to NOT face their true emotions, that the only reason they're struggling is because they just haven't "come out of the closet" yet.

The MAJOR problem I have with telling people (especially young people) that they can change is that it says to them that there is something that NEEDS changing.
If someone does not want their feelings of same-sex attraction, the question they should ask themselves is not "can it be changed?" but "why don't I want these feelings?" That would reveal a lot.
@wowoak See, the problem here is that we've been told that same sex attraction is bad - therefore, we naturally fight it. THIS is the unhealthy part. Do you think people are born straight or do they actually "choose" it as their orientation? Like it or not, we ARE born heterosexual or homosexual! Most likely, in early life we are equally attracted to both sexes. It is only when we reach sexual "maturity" in puberty that gender starts to make a difference in our preferences.
@wowoak MOST *unwated* sexual attractions at a young age are a by-product of a society that says they are different. The fear of not fitting in with everyone else and being alone, causes those to suppress their feelings and want to change. I think it's pathetic that you would even insist that these feelings aren't natural. They need help coping with the fact that they are different and it's okay to be just that. You should really look beyond just the stupid theory of finding a "gay gene."

Most straight people realize that, no matter how badly they might (foolishly) wish to be gay, nothing in this world (or the spiritual world) could convert them. I've got no history with this show, but from what i've seen, Will hates his mother, really doesn't seem to care what she thinks, and loves his grandmother, who seems clearly ok with however Will lives his life. Is it his father?
@BadassReturns While Will ~could be worried about what Lucas will say/think, it hasn't been made obvious yet, no. The way the writing is currently, it seems to just imply that Will simply feels the way he does ~regardless of his support system (various friends & quite an extended family). Lucas hasn't been around in a while (for other reasons) but hopefully this'll bring them closer as father & son, as opposed to other possibilities (as a fan of Lucas, love him when written well).

@jtrips1000 Sami would have been the natural choice for Will to turn to in his "crisis". Now that she's shown she cares more about herself than her kids (in Will's mind) she has left him with no one to turn to for help. Grandma Marlena would be my choice, if I were Will. Sonny's a great friend who chooses his words carefully with Will, knowing Will's hypotheticals are about himself but knowing he's still not ready to say that. I look forward to their being soulmates, as well.

He's been living w/his Mom & most recent step-Dad, Rafe, who is the most stable f@her figure since Austin, whom Sami made think he was Will's Dad. (Will's named after Austin's sister, Billie.) Now th@ Will's an adult & he sees his own experience repe@ing wi/his siblings, he's concerned - rightly so. Sami has done exactly wh@ her Mom did, except w/out the true love or Stefano's machinations. Lucas is his bio-Dad.

I found this episode to be both refreshing and enlightening. I felt the emotions were so raw and laced with such honesty. I'm glad they are taking this storyline slow because in reality, coming out is never done quickly. In most cases it's a gradual process. And I want to enjoy having Will on the show for as long as possible, cuz we all know most soaps when they turn a character gay, it spells doom for the actor b/c most likely they will be written off the program in a few months,sad but true:(
@ericchill25 Except for Bianca on AMC & Noah & Luke on AtWT. DoOL has SEVEN gay characters on the show right now. That's unprecedented & they've been taking their time getting Will out of the closet at a time that Gay Rights are finally being achieved, state by state. NBC has to know the show has a HUGE gay viewership, as well as a number of actors who've been on the show. This wasn't a whim & it's not going to be un-done. If, for some reason it was, Massey will be fine. He's too good!
I was SO waiting for this vid after seeing this episode on Wednesday. I can definitely relate to what Sonny said about knowing you are "different" (not his word) when you are young. I felt the same way. And I understand Will's anguish because I am also in a bad situation about letting family know. One particular scene from last week (?) when Will was looking at himself in the mirror and spat on his reflection shocked me at first, and then made me cry. Wish I had a friend to talk to about this.
One of the best, most honest and perfect dialogues I have ever seen on TV regarding what it's like to KNOW you are gay from an early age. My experiences exactly.

It is very sad that so many out there still don't get it, and refuse to understand and accept that orientation is something that is part of you and deal with from a very ealry age, and something you can not change.
the writers got it perfect with this episode. everything that Sonny said about "coming out" was true and accurate. I think that Will does not understand that "coming out" will help him feel better about himself. He should stop worrying about how other people will react to his coming out.
@AreyJones You know how it goes, before you come out. I had a list of more than 100 reasons to never come out. I remember having the list, but I couldn't tell you what 1 of those reasons was. Once you break free, most of the pain of the closet falls away.
Some people are saying how this storyline is progressing slowly, but I think it's better that way. I like how you include clips of other characters that tie into this story, instead of stuff with just them. It lets people know that there is more to this story than just Will and Sonny
I mean yea, you're posting their storyline on here, but you include other clips of other characters to help their story tie together. Some uploaders on here do that

A VERY terrific episode, because of this truthful and honest story-line. And a significant moment in day-time soap-opera history, if you ask me. Thank you "Days" for presenting a very safe, fair, and careful open character self-testimony for the rest of America. Fantastic. And very relate-able for MUCH of the LGBTQ community (and our allies).

go ahead and look at all the scenes he's in at the moment. they have clauses in contracts for drug testing. would you be able to juggle coming out to yourself, let alone everyone else, while dancing around your mom and ej, when the closest thing you have to a father is getting it on with your aunt? there might be a few emotions involved there.
No one is against Freddie. That was just a random troll that came in here to get the viewers riled up and he got exactly what he wanted: attention. So stop feeding the troll and focus on what really matters in this show.
Ooh it's moving along now. I can't wait for that one second peck on the lips in part 200 followed by sonny's death in part 400 and will remaining celibate out of grief for the rest of the show.
Of course Will knows Sonny knows. I mean sure it's a soap, but not even soap characters are that oblivious(unless it's General Hospital but that's a different soap altogether). Anywho, the roots are there and I think we're seeing a really honest attempt to this story. I really appreciate what the actors are doing here.

@palecobalt2 Sonny knows, flat out, & has told Will, who has, without actually saying the words, told Sonny he's gay. "How does someone know they're gay?" is accurately translated as, "I'm horny & only a dude will do!"

Will's body language says he wanted to hug Sonny towards the end of this part. Sonny gave some very sage advice about coming out. In America, we are in the sweeps month. Lucas, Will's dad is coming, Things are tense between Will and Sami, and I think Will is beginning to work himself up to come out.
People are far too quick to judge others. Yes, Sonny is bigger than Will, but we can't all be willowy twinks. Certainly, he's not fat! Some people are healthily heavier.

I was good in school, I was good at sports, but I too wasn't good at being heterosexual, because I too, started noticing boys when I was in high school. However, I chose to be heterosexual, and stick with girls. That is why so many "straight" guys think gay is a choice. They don't want to admit to their place on the gay-straight continuum, and be honest about their preference for boys or girls. I liked them both, but I chose to stick with girls. Just choose the one you want and be happy.
I think Lucas is going to have a big impact on Will's acceptance of being gay. Is Bryan coming back soon? loved the akward silence at 10:52, like Sonny was waiting for Will to finally be honest with his feelings.

And also, if u were to look closer at Sonny's eyes, he's looking at Will all the time in ways that he just wants to kiss him!!! Esp after saying "you know that special someone....." Hopefully Will can really have the courage to admit his true self!! Sux to see how he's reacting right now.
Chandler Massey has taken the role of Will Horton and made it one of the most "have to watch" parts on daytime television. I do not know where DOOL will take this SL and will Freddie Smirth playing Sonny will get more chances to show his chops as an actor. However for now I am content to just go along for the ride. Kudos to everyone in a great episode.

@wowoak See, the problem here is that we've been told that same sex attraction is bad - therefore, we naturally fight it. THIS is the unhealthy part. Do you think people are born straight or do they actually "choose" it as their orientation? Like it or not, we ARE born heterosexual or homosexual! Most likely, in early life we are equally attracted to both sexes. It is only when we reach sexual "maturity" in puberty that gender starts to make a difference in our preferences.

@wowoak MOST *unwated* sexual attractions at a young age are a by-product of a society that says they are different. The fear of not fitting in with everyone else and being alone, causes those to suppress their feelings and want to change. I think it's pathetic that you would even insist that these feelings aren't natural. They need help coping with the fact that they are different and it's okay to be just that. You should really look beyond just the stupid theory of finding a "gay gene."

but i'm still alive twenty years later. and it's because my family, in the loving christian tradition we've all been raised in, took a deep breath, and accepted that even though it wasn't what we wanted, we were still together, and family...

Most straight people realize that, no matter how badly they might (foolishly) wish to be gay, nothing in this world (or the spiritual world) could convert them. I've got no history with this show, but from what i've seen, Will hates his mother, really doesn't seem to care what she thinks, and loves his grandmother, who seems clearly ok with however Will lives his life. Is it his father?

@BadassReturns While Will ~could be worried about what Lucas will say/think, it hasn't been made obvious yet, no. The way the writing is currently, it seems to just imply that Will simply feels the way he does ~regardless of his support system (various friends & quite an extended family). Lucas hasn't been around in a while (for other reasons) but hopefully this'll bring them closer as father & son, as opposed to other possibilities (as a fan of Lucas, love him when written well).

It would be interesting to see Will & Austin tight when Lucas comes into town, w/little room for him in his son's life.

I think there's going to be a problem between Will & Sonny, because he's interested in Justin - even tho he knows Sonny wants him - but given where he is, I don't think that's going to stop him. John is a weird character. He's Will's Step-Grandfather, but there's a good deal of distance, on & off, via Sami. Again, a man Will respects, but NOT a true father figure. I expect Lucas will pull Will in, soon enough, but he's self-destructive.

@BadassReturns No, I'm almost sure it is his mother. I think deep down he still loves her despite what he says otherwise why would he carry on the way he does over what she's done.
I think he's probably worried about how she'll react when he tells her, and knowing how selfish and self-obsessed Sami is she'll probably make it all about herself.

@jtrips1000 Sami would have been the natural choice for Will to turn to in his "crisis". Now that she's shown she cares more about herself than her kids (in Will's mind) she has left him with no one to turn to for help. Grandma Marlena would be my choice, if I were Will. Sonny's a great friend who chooses his words carefully with Will, knowing Will's hypotheticals are about himself but knowing he's still not ready to say that. I look forward to their being soulmates, as well.

He's been living w/his Mom & most recent step-Dad, Rafe, who is the most stable f@her figure since Austin, whom Sami made think he was Will's Dad. (Will's named after Austin's sister, Billie.) Now th@ Will's an adult & he sees his own experience repe@ing wi/his siblings, he's concerned - rightly so. Sami has done exactly wh@ her Mom did, except w/out the true love or Stefano's machinations. Lucas is his bio-Dad.

I found this episode to be both refreshing and enlightening. I felt the emotions were so raw and laced with such honesty. I'm glad they are taking this storyline slow because in reality, coming out is never done quickly. In most cases it's a gradual process. And I want to enjoy having Will on the show for as long as possible, cuz we all know most soaps when they turn a character gay, it spells doom for the actor b/c most likely they will be written off the program in a few months,sad but true:(

@ericchill25 Except for Bianca on AMC & Noah & Luke on AtWT. DoOL has SEVEN gay characters on the show right now. That's unprecedented & they've been taking their time getting Will out of the closet at a time that Gay Rights are finally being achieved, state by state. NBC has to know the show has a HUGE gay viewership, as well as a number of actors who've been on the show. This wasn't a whim & it's not going to be un-done. If, for some reason it was, Massey will be fine. He's too good!

I was SO waiting for this vid after seeing this episode on Wednesday. I can definitely relate to what Sonny said about knowing you are "different" (not his word) when you are young. I felt the same way. And I understand Will's anguish because I am also in a bad situation about letting family know. One particular scene from last week (?) when Will was looking at himself in the mirror and spat on his reflection shocked me at first, and then made me cry. Wish I had a friend to talk to about this.

One of the best, most honest and perfect dialogues I have ever seen on TV regarding what it's like to KNOW you are gay from an early age. My experiences exactly.
Well done Days...well done.
It is very sad that so many out there still don't get it, and refuse to understand and accept that orientation is something that is part of you and deal with from a very ealry age, and something you can not change.

the writers got it perfect with this episode. everything that Sonny said about "coming out" was true and accurate. I think that Will does not understand that "coming out" will help him feel better about himself. He should stop worrying about how other people will react to his coming out.

@AreyJones You know how it goes, before you come out. I had a list of more than 100 reasons to never come out. I remember having the list, but I couldn't tell you what 1 of those reasons was. Once you break free, most of the pain of the closet falls away.

Some people are saying how this storyline is progressing slowly, but I think it's better that way. I like how you include clips of other characters that tie into this story, instead of stuff with just them. It lets people know that there is more to this story than just Will and Sonny

A VERY terrific episode, because of this truthful and honest story-line. And a significant moment in day-time soap-opera history, if you ask me. Thank you "Days" for presenting a very safe, fair, and careful open character self-testimony for the rest of America. Fantastic. And very relate-able for MUCH of the LGBTQ community (and our allies).

Will is on the verge of emotional collapse right now - with the exception fo puttin ghis Mom thru hell - and when he's not distracted, the weight of it is crushing him.

go ahead and look at all the scenes he's in at the moment. they have clauses in contracts for drug testing. would you be able to juggle coming out to yourself, let alone everyone else, while dancing around your mom and ej, when the closest thing you have to a father is getting it on with your aunt? there might be a few emotions involved there.

Of course Will knows Sonny knows. I mean sure it's a soap, but not even soap characters are that oblivious(unless it's General Hospital but that's a different soap altogether). Anywho, the roots are there and I think we're seeing a really honest attempt to this story. I really appreciate what the actors are doing here.

Lucas, Will's dad is coming, Things are tense between Will and Sami, and I think Will is beginning to work himself up to come out.

I was good in school, I was good at sports, but I too wasn't good at being heterosexual, because I too, started noticing boys when I was in high school. However, I chose to be heterosexual, and stick with girls. That is why so many "straight" guys think gay is a choice. They don't want to admit to their place on the gay-straight continuum, and be honest about their preference for boys or girls. I liked them both, but I chose to stick with girls. Just choose the one you want and be happy.

wow Sonny has said a lot of good sentences really. Best of the Best: "You can't find true love without finding your own truth." something like that I can't really capture the exact sentence. And also, if u were to look closer at Sonny's eyes, he's looking at Will all the time in ways that he just wants to kiss him!!! Esp after saying "you know that special someone....." Chandler Massey has taken the role of Will Horton and made it one of the most "have to watch" parts on daytime television. I do not know where DOOL will take this SL and will Freddie Smirth playing Sonny will get more chances to show his chops as an actor. However for now I am content to just go along for the ride. Kudos to everyone in a great episode.
