great job! my only suggestion would be to work on your accent a bit . for example : "anvaye nezamhaii" not " anwah nazemhaii" ("nazem" is "principal") and someone already made a note about "wa". it's ok if you use wa, you just sound more like an Afghan . besides that Agha Damet Garm! you're videos are great !
You truly are amazing!! i speak 4 languages but youre extremely talented, professor! Im subscribing. Also, please work on your accent, otherwise, keep up the great work. Farsi is a very hard language to read!
How is و supposed to be pronounced? I thought it was "va" or "o" but not "wa" as in Arabic. It sounds like you mostly pronounce it "va" when you read the sentences the first time but "wa" when you read and give translations. However, in the word "وسعت" you pronounced it as "was'at".
"Va" and "o" are certainly more correct that "wa." Your observation about my tendencies is spot on, as I myself notice upon relistening, although I had not noticed this before. It must be due to the fact that I feel the rhythm of the language better when reading the whole sentence, whereas when pronouncing the words in isolation, I revert to Arabic patterns, with which I am actually more familiar. Thank you for pointing this out: I will try to be more cognizant of it in the future.
Glad to help. I was starting to think that I had misread somewhere about the pronunciation actually. Thanks for these videos, by the way. Persian is most definitely a fascinating language truly deserving more widespread study.
Before indulging in such obscure and exotic languages, you should first invest more time improving your skills in the more important languages, i.e., English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, as well as Russian. Also, more input in the form of reading and listening is needed, and less translations.
I remember you talking about a vigorous work type when it came to learning German.
Is there a special school that one can go to to specialize in linguistics ? I have a very strong interest in languages and wish to be as good at them as you. Did you go to a school to learn all of these or only some and studied others on your own ?
Well, no such special school really exists right now, but I am striving very hard to get one going. Please look over my website and you will find answers to many of your questions. If you are truly serious, perhaps you may even want to consider studying with me, as I can teach you the art and skill of teaching yourself languages with utmost efficiency.
I first began studying it about 10 years ago. For most of the past decade, however, I have unfortunately been too busy with other matters to give it anything like the care and attention it deserves.
Thanks to you I've gotten my hands on some great Persian-learning resources (mostly from Helmut Buske, Langenscheidt, and Assimil).
This has also renewed my interest in the ancient Indo-Iranian languages which I endeavour to study comparatively, both synchronically and diachronically with the modern languages (Persian and its standards and dialects, Punjabi, Bengali, Hindustani, etc.).

the more important languages? what a horrible, euro-centric remark
important in what sense? I assure you Persian, in a historical and literary sense is far more important than English or Russian.
Languages should be viewed as art, not merely a means of keeping up with globalisation.
