  • no hay ritmo, no hay buen sonido, mmmm espero oir mejores temas de este grupo.

  • @turismohuarmey todos estan siguiendo el mismo ritmo y tempo, escucha la cancion original, no se van muy lejos de ahi

  • FUCK YEAH BULLET

  • Comment removed

  • like the end... the misfits!!!!!!!!!

  • its funny because the comments about ending the arguments are from 2 years ago, and people are still fighting..

  • dos cedric sound flat in this? I know all those notes are near impossible for anyone else in the world, but his voice really sticks out here, maybe its the effect?

  • I've seem him live a few times. He saves his best performances for the studio sadly.

  • not true

  • fuck you txt2k3 omar is a masterpiece and besides HE writes the music and some of the lyrics. He is a totsl visionary What have you done that gives you the right to criticize a genius?

  • @Steven3eee what has he done to not be able to criticize another person? he can have his own opinions. What gives you the right to criticize him?

just cause someone doesn't like your music and criticizes it doesn't mean you have to get all upset about it. Mars Volta fans think their better than everyone else because they listen to the Mars Volta...

  • love this band. disappointed in cedric's performance here though. i saw them live in october and he was great...

  • what u giant fucking SORTed mess. i can imiagine how much it might be to perform Omars work live.

  • Does any person know the equipment of the singer, Cedric Bixler-Zavala? Vocal mic? Vocal effect pedals? Vocal mic stand? XLR cable? Is it a SENNHEISER MD421-2 vocal mic? Please help. I have been searching for a very long time.

  • oh and to the true mars volta fan lmao. Like a wise man said "Its not over till the tremulant sings" and thats far away from now. The Mars Volta are stronger than ever, they are headlining at festival and their lyrics and music get better every year....have you heard cedrics voice lately? you might not like their style anymore, but that doesnt mean that their careers are ending.

  • Yeah there here to say......but i cant wait to see every Omar has documented....since the begining.....i there he is gonna put it all into a movie or something

  • Thomas left due to a dispute with Cedric and Jon wasn't enjoying playing the type of music TMV play.

  • The point of playing an instrument is to express yourself and have your own style and have fun. If somebody takes that away from you they take away all the fun. Omar doesn't let anybody express themselves, its all about him. He has a big ego.

  • @txt2k3 or you've never heard of an orchestra before. easy hippie

  • @SiN3MATIC do you know what that argument was by any chance?

  • I'm a huge Mars Volta fan.....I can't disagree with you fully.......barely for that matter.

  • @txt2k3 Cedric kicked Thomas out for calling him a "bitch with a dick."

Have you heard Omar's solo albums? They're incredible. Also: Marcel plays twenty instruments. They set the ambiance for the songs. He also does some lyrical work and plays keyboards with Ikey in the studio.

  • @verdenodela1 I really don't think Marcel writes any lyrics.

  • @txt2k3 lol you do have a point whith the tambarine part

  • @txt2k3 Dude, you need a clue...

  • He still wrote incredible songs moron.

  • @txt2k3 omar produced frances the mute

  • @txt2k3 I don't think you understand the importance of auxiliary percussion... whats a painting without colour?

  • "coming from a true mars volta fan" LOL So you're a true fan because you say their best days are Deloused and Tremulant? I'm sick of people hating on Frances and beyond. Frances the Mute, Amputechture, Goliath, and the Jizz-inspiring Octahedron are musical masterpieces. They expanded on their own evolutionary style and invoked new influences each time. From time signatures to orchestrations, everything is just intensely awesome. Deloused fans are just like "I want hooks in my songs! wooo"

  • I Couldnt agree more with you. People want more Deloused!!, they pretty much want a remix eveyr new album, which is incoherent. This guys are an adventurous band, Frances The Mute, was a orgasmic. Amputechture was melodic yet chaotic, The bedlam of Goliath was pure experimental rock at its best. Ochtaedron is just TMV at its pinnacle of mellow and "acoustic" sounds. Im eager to hear whats next!

  • totally agree with you, what's up with that? I read shit like that all the time, if you don't like what they offer you, fuck off, listen to deloused and don't buy the new albums. It is a great album, but you can't compare them, it's like comparing kfc buckets with drums.. or something like that..

  • I liked some stuff on Goliath, but Frances and Comatorium are their greatest.

Cotopaxi is meh, I like Twilight and Copernicus. I don't like the song Cotopaxi or Since We've been Wrong very much.

  • Couldn't have said it better myself, De-loused was fucking incredible but they aren't going to keep making the same album over and over. Everything they have written has had meaning and is amazing. Nuff said"

  • cedric would slap u with his dick himself

  • From 4:09 on is so fucking awesome live. I wish the record had some (well, A LOT) more of that jam at the end.

  • Wow, that ending kicks all kinds of ass. I love when Cedric puts lyrics from "Bullet" in there.

  • Wow, def a Band to see live...

  • Banana cheese egg souffle?

  • he's a robot, that's why. you didn't know? everybody knows this, come on.

  • look at the audience, a bunch of zombies.

  • Three days of hills, heat, alcohol, fighting for room to breath in the pit, camping and being stoned IS IN FACT DRAINING!

  • If I'm not mistaken, that last part had a little bit of Cassandra Gemini...I thought they didn't do that track (tracks).

  • doesnt mean they cant go into different parts of it, cygnus used to be a jam in drunkenship

  • What the fuck does omar do to slice up his guitar sound so much? I just dont understand it!

  • pedals homie

  • Uses a plastic slide on his thumb to do the echo noises, that's all I could see him doing when I saw them live.

3 story high pedal board as well.

  • perfect ending

  • this stuff really is prog. a cross between camel and king crimson with miles davis playing sax and guitar leads

  • Can somebody write what cedric imrpovise (or not) at the debut of the song please ? i don't understand what he says

  • It's VERY likely that you'll see it in a future record as part of a new song or something. Cygnus was created out of these live improvisations.

  • Is that an improved intro or is it Cedric singing lyrics from another song?

Either way, holy fuck, I love this band.

I haven't read the entire argument here, but I agree that people need to stfu and appreciate what these guys do, regardless, or get the fuck out.

  • Neither drummer is better persay, Jon and Thomas both have their respective styles; Jon's no longer fits with where the Mars Volta is going. And as for Omar being pretentious, you have to be a little bit full of yourself to love the music you make, right?

  • I totaly agree with what you just said. I'm an artist (oil on canvas) and Ive been told i'm pretentious, but i wont finish a painting till i absolutly think its an awesome painting!

  • Yeah, everyone i have met who have told me that my band or any other band is pretentious. Would either not be any form or artist or is not be able to do the same thing if they tried.

  • I dont understand it either...those who cant do bash those who can?!?! Just keep doing what you do...Even if you were in a room with just 2 people the other persons would make you feel like you have no room to walk...

  • Thanks man. Also i am in NZ which means there is a lot of "tall poppy syndrome" (people cut each other down all the time)

  • as a musician myself, if you arent proud of what you make, then you're doing something wrong. every talented artist in any medium has arrogance about their work, if its good that is.

  • Hendrix said "It's not the notes you play, it's the notes you DON'T play." I think that sums up the pro-Theodore side of the Jon-Thomas argument. (upon which I remain undecided)

  • why doesnt everybody shut up and just appreciate the video.

  • its all good now, Jon's in a new band "One Day as a Lion" with Zach de la Rocha who is the singer from Rage Against The Machine. There EP comes out soon

  • I dont udnerstand the constant trashing of Jon that you all buy into. Look, I love what Cedric and Omar do, but sometimes they are just so full of themselves..you really think Omar wrote all of Jon's drum parts?

  • you guys are all full of shit, enjoy the video and shut yer pie holes!!!!

  • are any of you people musicians?... the drummer keeps the time

  • yes cygnus is a totally different song than it was a few years and i'm sure evyeryone in the volta camp doesn't miss playing the old version since they've played it over a hundred fucken times. maybe if they gave a fuck about the critics they'd dumb down all their music and play the way we want them to hahahaha

  • jon was like the girlfriend you ask for

anal sex and doesnt want because it hurt her

thats ur explanation stebe 1985 lol

    sounds fair

hey great performance i wanna see them live

    vengan a mexico otra vez

  • I liked Cygnus best at Huxley's Neue Welt, March 1 2005. Kickass.

  • if you want to see where he said that, look up "ive never heard a man speak like this man before". its an interview he did in spain. its in part 3.

  • to end the great jon vs thomas debate. omar himself has refered to jon as a "terrible girlfriend" who "doesnt want to play things because theyre too hard, and wanted something easier"

i think thats an open and shut case as to which drummer is better.

  • Omar never said that. Omar said jon is like a terrible girlfriend who dosen't laugh at your jokes or get along with your freinds. plus jons drum parts are much harder to play then thomas parts. Thomas just plays a lot of basic beats but plays them faster and adds an extra kick or snare and then does a fast roll. jons beats are well thought out and more progressive and technical.

  • Most of the actual progressive drumming was from the mind of Blake Fleming back in the day. Jon was playing a lot of Flemings beats. And we all know the problems they had with Fleming. It said so about the drumming on Flemings myspace a while back.

  • are you a drummer?

    im assuming not..

tho jon's parts might let the song bread a bit more (coze they are more spaced beats).. theres no way they are harder than thoma's.. thomas stuff is more about speed than about feeling but

    a) thats what omar asked him to do

    b) thats exactly what goes well with the music

and tho thomas doesnt do any extra difficult stuff.. jon doesnt do it either.

  • Cygnus, which is my favorite volta song totally falls flat has no groove now that thomas is playing. Does thomas know nothing about vamping? Sometimes I'd swear he had never heard the word DYNAMICS before in his life. Guess they dont teach THAT stuff at Berklee. And they are playing this about 15 bps too fast for the groove...probably on purpose which is cool I guess...but still...it doesn't groove the same. This song is all about groove and dynamics.

  • Lord...thomas is so nasty...

  • The stuff Thomas is playing has to get approved by Omar first, whether it's live or in the studio. It was the same way with Jon. So basically this is how Omar wants Cygnus to sound now. Thomas is certainly capable of playing it exactly like Jon. In my opinion Thomas has really turned Cygnus into a monster...it's awesome.

  • not all true, when they jam its whatever the drummer wants to do..

  • In most bands that may be true, but not in this case. You'll see Omar give Thomas cues and directions when they "jam". He'll do the same with the rest of the band. In almost all other cases the band will look for the drummer for cues and changes, but Omar is the one who does this with the current lineup for TMV.

  • Yeah, tripwire, Your absolutely right. I just saw them in Rhode Island, september 08, and it was absolutely monster.

  • lupos baby

  • lolinternet

  • i like the band there the wat music needs can wait till next album

  • TripwireAlarm please be quiet. kthx.

  • I'm sorry but "kthx" is stupid beyond words, but then again you're only 19...got a lot of growing up to do.

  • I'm getting frustrated seeing your name commenting on every TMV/ATDI video. Real fans of this band will know that this is Cygnus.

  • I don't know why it would frustrate you Luciiz. You aren't the only person watching these videos and reading the comments. It's good when fans point out things for those unfamiliar with the band or the new song "arrangements".

  • Good fans are robots

  • For what it's worth I didn't know all this was Cygnus, though I recognized it at the end. It's changed a lot from the last time I heard it.

  • yep its all in the base line.

  • Part of the breakdown and end of "Cygnus....Vismund Cygnus" if anyone is wondering.

  • Nice. I noticed Cedric doing a bit of Misfits toward the end there (Around 6:15).

    Damn good performance

  • awesome! why were people complaining again?

  • it was soooo good, great show, great video.
