I have the same opinion of Arvo as I do with Donne and Dante: the religion is an imaginative structure, and an order of words; it has nothing to do with faith.
@falloutdemo The kid is Jesus. His father Saint Ioseph at left and the Holy Mary at right. Es una repreentación de la Sagrada Familia: Jesús, José y la Inmaculada Virgen María.
...It´s so pleasant and comforting to listen to Arvo Part´s music and at the same time, to read your moving words, unknown brothers and sisters from all over the world...
....moreover, it´s 2 o´clock on Christmas Night now: cold and snowy outside, warm inside.
...This music is our true fatherland. No other place could be called so.
i think it works better with the soprano part played by a boys choir. In my opinion it sounds more pure and fragile. This is a wonderful rendition anyway!
Achingly beautiful. The Magnificat is usually an upbeat, more festive piece. Part's interpretation tells me that Mary sees the shadow of the cross overlying the joy of her son's birth.
I truly believe that if people chose to listen to this kind of music instead of whatever else the world would be a better place and peoples lives would be better too.
Stunning. What's the painting? Thanks for uploading this!
