I seem to remember it came out pretty easy using a set of pliers or something.. FYI the rubber grommet does not exactly fit the new tube, but will fit in there.. just not all the way. If the hole is drilled out a bit more it might fit better, but I never messed with it. It fits plenty tight.... albeit maybe a bit more shallow in the tube than it should be.
thats all true but lets be real about this if the same cold air was going into the long tube of a cai and short ram which one would keep the coolest temp before getting to the engine and which one flows easier with the least resistance?
that is the same one my friend got for his aveo if you need a exhaust get a flowmaster 40 series it goes around 20$ on ebay and it costs around 45$ to get it installed check out my friend car at aveo flowmaster 40 series it is the first vid
Check out my other vids.. I replaced the "bread box" rear muffler with an Apexi rear muffler. I replaced the intake and the muffler at the same time. I dyno'd the car right after and it makes roughly 7 hp more now than stock. I also replaced the plugs with E3's before the dyno. YES I can tell it made a difference. MPG improved too. If I replaced the rest of the exhaust it would probably make a bigger difference, but I didn't want to make it too loud.. that is what my race day car is for.
i also have a chrome intake on my aveo but the 1 you have is a short ram. i have the cold air version with the k&n filter that goes to the fender well. the best part about the cold air version is, during the winter i can take off the pipe that goes to the fender well and use the same setup you have. when you installed your intake, how did you put on the vacuum sensor?
Technically it does not really fit "correctly". The hole that is in the metal piping has a rubber grommet that the sensor is supposed to fit into, but the grommet is a bit too thick to allow the sensor to protrude into the intake pipe as far as it "should". I just jammed it into the pipe as far as it would go. Ultimately it probably needs a slightly smaller grommet or maybe a slightly larger hole in the intake pipe and maybe the same grommet, but it works fine as is.
Mine actually did take awhile to get here. I think it was about 2 weeks. Maybe slightly longer. They have a phone # on their auction pages normally, but the person that owns the e-bay account and the people that actually run it are 2 different people. They said that they do the intakes in batches that run once every few days. E-mail or call them, but yea.. it did take awhile. 2 weeks+ worth of waiting for a 5 minute install. :)
well im having a full exhaust system being customized so that will add a good amount of horsepower, and a performance chip after that..but im ready to put the intake on, mine is a 2007 what year is yours?
Sweet man.. I think you should notice a difference with that alone, but my muffler and intake went on within a couple days of each other. Between all the stuff I changed out it has definitely helped all around.
I just recently added E3 spark plugs to my car and pulled in a tank of gas that got me 36.6 MPG!! That is my best ever and that exceeds the highway rating of 34MPG and added even better throttle response and pickup. So.. if you are considering replacing the spark plugs soon... I whole heartedly suggest getting a set of E3 spark plugs... they made a difference for me. I replaced mine with about 52,000 miles on them.
I just checked it over a 200 mile trip on Memorial Day. I got 34.9MPG on that stretch of highway. It was literally all highway and I strictly drove between 65 and 70 the entire way. Previously on that same trip I'd average about 30-31mpg.
One other note... other than the intake and exhaust I have recently been using full synthetic oil compared to a partial synthetic mix every other oil change. Every other oil change prior was just standard oil. Another note is that my original box air filter had only been changed I believe once if ever and it was pretty dirty. I'm sure that could have been robbing me of some airflow above and beyond what a CLEAN factory box would. Research online. I'm not the only one to get both gains.
I also had replaced the spark plugs around 49k also. Nothing special though.. just standard plugs. I may get a "premium" plug in the future. I started running in the SCCA and every little bit can help. :)
I got a k&n on my 07 and that sounds better nice set up man

I have the a16dms on a nubira 2. how much does this filter cost?

Do you think it would fit on an 09?
cheekers86 11 months ago
@cheekers86 Check them out on e-bay. I would think there is a very good chance since I doubt the engine compartment in your car looks much different.

did your vehicle throw an emissions code after install?

cold air intakes give more hp than short ram FYI
for those of you looking for comparisons
cold air intakes better for high rpm gains, short ram for low rpm range
cold air give a little more hp than short

I got this for my dodge avenger '00 v6
stock 167 hp i think
i got the cold air intake from chrome intakes
works amazing, sounds really beefy, and looks great
probably between 5-10 hp increase for me
no exhaust upgrade yet
lots of little upgrades, plugs, wires, etc... the usual

nice nice how much horse power did u gain
ansterds 2 years ago
I already answered that question previously.. I gained about 7 between it and the muffler.

stock hp is 103hp. so with that seutp you'll probably be pushin what, 110hp at the most?
forry90 3 years ago
103 is what the stock motor is rated for. on an old aveoclub forum they dynoed a stock aveo and it put like 86whp down if i remember right.

just got the same intake

You will get MPG gains from less restrictive parts such as an intake and exhaust
gangstagrillz2009 3 years ago
nice one, but seriosuly... yo get more mpg? i have the same car, but i don't want to waste more money on gas oil
