  • This is one great song.

  • There are some broken hearts in New England tonight.

  • Note to Patriot fans~

  • I was thinking about this song yesterday...Eli, Give 'em heck today...:)

  • We need to add this to the NY Giants promos somehow!....He needs to hear some positive music for the Super Bowl!

  • Asa Laura Nyro fan i have to say this caught me by surprise.

Laura's version has the most beautiful singing and backing, a tour de force!

The Three Dog Night show consideration and respect for Laura's song.

    Love and peace.

  • Thanks! Peace & love to you as well.

  • If The NY Giants don't work this into a promo..they're crazy!!

  • @johnnysanantonio Agreed!

  • this song sh ould be the team song of the new york giants!!!!!

  • Eli Eli, Lama Sabachtani? My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?

  • The latin translation...interesting. You could have a theological debate about the meaning of this song, but I think that would be overdoing it. I believe in this song, Eli is just a man...maybe a football player...who knows?

  • i saw tht guy he's 65 now last night at UNH

  • I'm going to post this song whenever the football Giants come to play the Eagles.

  • I lov it

  • my mom just told me about this song, my friend's name is Elie and she said it reminded her of this song

  • Love LOVE Love!

  • Good song. :D I play this or hum it when my cat comes into the room (his name is Eli)

  • Congrats Jennyx on the upcoming birth of yet another great Eli :)

  • Eli is a great name & this is a great song :)

  • @BiancaBeth my name is Eli

  • @BabyCagefighter me too

  • @BiancaBeth my name is eli! well my real name is elijah but people call eli

  • When I purchased my Caique Parrots, I chose the female & let her choose the male. They did not have their wings clipped yet. I was going over & over waiting for the right 'names' to jump out at me & literally, it did. The female was so sweet & gentle. The male was pure GUY. He'd fly straight at my face & land in my hair- never hurt but just suddenly THERE !! I started to say, "Oh NO - here he comes! This song jumped into my recall & is perfect. "Eli's Coming - hide your heart Girl"

  • haha

  • My little Eli's coming September 9, 2011 :)

  • Congrats! Better hide your heart, girl!

  • @JennyxSaintxRope has Eli come yet? all the best to you and your little man. 9/12/2011

  • @JennyxSaintxRope My Eli , not Elijah was born on 9-3-09 lol

  • @JennyxSaintxRope my little Eli arrived 3rd august 2011 - Eli's are awesome

  • First Cory, then Danny, then Chuck :)

  • This song always makes me think of the New York Giants

  • One of the great songs of all time

  • Definitely

  • @oceanbound222

i agree! and these are great pictures.

  • My son's name is Eli so we just love this song!

  • Funny, my son's best friend is named Eli- they are 8 years old- and they both hate it!

    LOL.

Go figure, I guess they prefer the hip hop stuff.

  • How I wish I could bring back the days when this song was released...

  • Join the club!

  • 2 people didn't hide their hearts, girl

  • Probably more than that.

  • this song was played on the last episdoe of Sport's Night, a tv show that was based on SportsCenter. right of to the last show they did not know if they were going to be on another season. it was such a good show i was sad to see it go off the air, but i'll never forget them playing my favorite tdn song!

  • I named my son after this song in 1979, he's handicapped, I didn't know at the time, my heart would be broke, I love him dearly

  • Sorry to hear that, but that should make you love him all the more. Good luck to you both.

  • Powerful stuff! There's an Eli in this house too *grin*

  • i walked to appolo by the bay=do u know how many years it took me to realize thats what they were saying?

  • LOL, same here!

  • Chuck Negron is still soooo gooood loookin'!! MMMmmmm! Love your voice, Chuck, I'll always be in love with you!

  • There was a local band in the Atlanta area in the mid-late 70's called "Eli". On the radio commercials for their shows, the script was always followed by the intro of this song...Eli's cominnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng!

  • My name's Eli =)

  • cool!

  • @JoeyBagODonuts612 ME TOO ELI's unite

  • @st123722 We must unite and take over the world! Muahahahaha

  • @JoeyBagODonuts612 me too

  • 0:13 - 0:30 is pure sex from heaven :D

Everytime I hear that part I just melt away..

  • The whole song does that for me.

  • my name is eli!

  • How cool is that? You have a built in favorite song...just be glad your name isn't Lola.

  • @JJCANE2 That's cool. Even if your name is Lola, The Kinks have a song named after you!

  • Yes, it will live on for a long time.

  • All the student NURSES knew " Eli's Coming" THANKS to one student who would turn the volume up and scream down the Catholic Dorm in La Salle/Peru ,Illinois!

Can you believe it was 40 years ago!!! My daughter and husband are having their 1st child in April 2011,and it is a boy ! I was at her sonagram and they plan to name him Eli, of course that name made me to immediately go back to a free time of Three Dog Night and Nurses Training (except) for our hardcore nuns! "Eli's Coming " lives on!

  • Let's not forget to thank one Bronx, NY born Laura Nyro for writing this masterpiece.

  • I did mention that Laura Myro wrote the song in my message header. But you're right, we owe her a lot for that and many other songs.

  • @JJCANE2 She's up this year for the Rock 'n' Roll hall of fame. Let's hope those hacks put her in.

  • Don't hold your breath, but we can hope.

  • I sing this every time Eli Manning runs out on the field...\m/

  • I sing "Manning's coming, hide the ball girl"...kinda stupid but funny.

  • @JJCANE2 Nahh, not stupid at all...I think that's pretty cool!:)

  • My son is 4yrs old... and when I was pregnant and thinking of the name Eli, a coworker used to sing this song to me all the time. Now I have shared the song with my son and he LOVES it. He asks to listen to 'his song' and then dances around to it. :) Thanks for making it easy to share with him.

  • You are very welcome!

Funny, my son's best friend name is Eli, and also one of my all time favorite songs.

  • i just had to write something to express how much i really like this song in particular and 3 dogs night in general. i think this and never been to spain are their best work, altough its hard to choose really. absolutely amazing song, doesnt follow traditional recipe for songs they just seem to be playing just for the fun of it, never doing the same thing twice, like a chorus or something. Brilliant!

  • Yes, 3DN were one of the highlights of their era...I'm glad I was there to here them when they came out!

  • This is a great song it's such a shame it has so little views.

  • Over 19,000 views isn't so bad...

  • I listen to this song before every NYG football game....inspiring eli manning is coming HA!

  • You could say it is a "Giant" song...

  • I have arrived!

  • Welcome Eli! We knew you could make it!

  • cool song

  • One of my all time favorites.

  • Ain't it though?

  • Danny Hutton was great but if you tell it like it is, Chuck Negron was the voice of 3 Dog Night.

Negron "WAS >IS >AND WILL ALWAYS BE 3 DOG NIGHT for all of us that grew up in the late 60's and the 70's.

  • I am a big Chuck Negron fan for sure, but I also firmly believe that it was that EXACT combination that made TDN what it was.

I don't think it would have been the same if ANY of the original guys weren't there.

    IMO:

TDN is NOT as good without Chuck...

    AND...

CHUCK is not as good without TDN..

They should be together...they belong together.

    My 2 cents

  • Saw Jeff Negra at Mishawaka Fest 20 years ago and he was powerful! Met him and a bunch of other legends including Peter Noonan and Tiny Tim to mention a couple others. The city rocked that night I tell ya. Never had another as electric as that night. There must have been thousands crammin that park that night. That will never happen again and I'm glad that I was there to experience it.

  • That's Chuck, not Jeff. Still musta been very cool!

  • My favorite track by TDN

  • In my top 2 by TDN...but I also like "One"...but it's hard to decide which is better...

  • @JJCANE2 Hi. Yes, both are great. What a band, all those hits. Chuck will be with Paul Revere and Raiders on a cruise in January, a little wish list for me. Almost never wrote their own songs, an encouragement to others that it can be done. Love Cory's clothes and ascot.

  • Three Dog Night, My First Concert! 1973 at The Cape Cod Collesium In South Yarmouth Ma. Awesome Show!!

  • Collesium in South Yarmouth? Is it still there? I vacation in Yarmouth every summer and don't ever remember ever seeing it.

  • yep, sure is POWERFUL!!!

  • Yep!

  • Eli Fronk is trying to be born a Sunday's child, like Rick and I.

Eli is posterier and causing Stephie a lot of back labor.

Being sent home to try and get baby to turn. We should have

    a new grandson soon!

  • Congrats to the proud parents! Good luck with Eli!

  • I forgot just how Bloody AWESOME these guys are!

  • VERY bloody awesome!

  • luv this!

  • This song is getting a lot of play in Albuquerque lately!!! Tim Wallach, the manager of the ABQ Isotopes (Dodgers AAA affilliate), had this as his walk up song back when he was playing. It's been re-surrected and is now played every time he takes the line up card out to the umpiring crew before Isotopes home games.

  • Very cool...keeps the song alive!

  • @jimkeef Tim is managing the Isotopes? No shit !!!. . . alright. That's great. I grew up a Giants fan but that's great to hear that Tim is still in baseball. I met him at a Giants / Dodgers game at Candlestick years ago. Helluva nice guy. I wish him well.

  • Jesus, what has happened to populat music?!?!!????

  • Today kids are not thought of as being intellectually astute musically, and the radio stations play anything that someone is willing to promote.

That equals radio stations playing crap all day long.

A long way from the days of The Beatles or Pink Floyd or Boston...and albums like Sgt Pepper, Dark side of the moon, or Abby Road...where music was considered high art.

  • @rick36012 Author / scholar Harold Bloom had it right when he wrote "Closing of The American Mind" back in 1987. . . he talked extensively about the "dumbing down" which was going on in our society (due mostly to a lack of emphasis on education). . . this dumbing down, he predicted, would have a negative affect on all aspects of American life, including the arts. Dr. Bloom did say that we would not see this until well into the 21st century. I think he was wrong- We are seeing it now.

  • Actually I think it started in earnest around 1986-87...when I noticed music was changing and not for the better. There are some glimmers of hope, but they are usually buried in a sea of mediocrity.

  • Love this song! I have been thinking about this song for so long. I used to have the record. I cannot remember year. Does anyone know?

  • 1970 I believe

  • I hope that WMG doesn't kill it.

  • Interesting fact: Three Dog Night never wrote their own hit songs.

  • @jmlst Yes, that is true. Also Johnny Rivers

  • sound is clean ..thanks for uploading!

  • your welcome!
