in step plus you also need to have your foot over the board, place your foots sideways AND it goes faster at the end O_O

How does it know when you go to the side or if you are going back or forth off the board?

The way your body weight shifts on the Balance Board. If the Balance Board feels your weight increasing on the right-side, then it'll know you're stepping off or on on the right-hand side. Same thing on the left-hand side as well.
