This is hip hop folks. The world needs more of this shit. Every up & comer in the hip hop world should HAVE to listen to this song 1 last time before signing a contract Filter out the hip hop artists from those who want to cater to the black hole that is mainstream hip pop. One of my favorites, but never realized there was a video for it. Well done. This is what it's all about folks. If you like this. Check out 'Just Because'. 2 songs that both explain word for word what hip hop is all about.
@WicketL Its a video series made by Rob and Roamin from the website Urealms . com where they play various different video games together and this song was used for their introduction of Saints Row 2 2Player series.
haha so a black man chasing a $5 bill is racist? Honestly, I'm not sure i know ANYONE who wouldn't pick up a $5 bill off the ground. If you listen to the lyrics its pretty obvious its a metaphor for the guy trying to pick the $5 bill up, hes just chasing money and even bails on his buddy on the street to chase a dollar (or 5)
this is the first time i've heard this track, i got that feeling that i think everyone gets when ya hear something you know you should of been already listening to, kinda like finding a lost friend you didn't know existed...maybe im just blazed haha
that kid really just get hit by a van, go through a barbed wire fence, and steal a kids bike to catch a 5 dollar bill? And then end up with someone else gettin it? lol crazy video
@JVIonsterZZZZ or someone named after candy selling loads of records. Or people singing loops with some lame beats manufactured by a dude named after boots being on peoples youtube favorite list and they take a lick at some real AR'teasts....uh.
Мой Skype: apolos30 регистрируйся пока бесплатно осталось 3 дня, новая международная программа , заработок 1000-10000$ в день, новый проект шахматного маркетинга!!! Будь одним из первых!!!
I'm just 19 and always on search for some true hip hop, ya know, like hip hop you listen to and you feel the message, the funk, you just feelin' it. Nowerdays hiphop just crappy shit. You ain't feel nothing than eventually swinging ya ass for 2 minutes and asking yourself, for real, what was this song about.
This one is timeless epic stuff, could listen to it again and again, never gets old, never looses the groove.
its amazing how poor talent on you tube gets so much credit....is it because the human race is getting so stupid all we want to hear is some stupid catchy tune.. which then makes them rich....the world is back de fuck...
thats because only people that look for new stuff at record stores only know about them. and in most suburbs in the united states they don't have a tower records in every town . I was fortunate to work at tower records in 2000 and found this cd when it came to the tower records I was at. I loved bumpin this in my car in long beach and black people be trying to listen really hard with a big question mark on their face lol.
What the fuck is up with that HOW TO RAP book, it's basically on every hip hop video page on youtube... You guys are trying too hard to promote that shit...
@ikeepitrealZ22 Eh, what i said had nothing to do with the content of the book or the current state of mainstream hip hop. I just find that on most hip hop videos, mostly underground, several people promote the book... If i were interested in the subject of that the book was dealing with I would've found it myself, no need to stick it down people's throats
The comments are mostly on videos that have artists that were interviewed in the book. They advertise this book on songs that represent real hip hop. Their target audience.
So the goal is to get more people interested in this book, so in the future, real hip hop will keep going strong for future generations. If you listened to this song you might see the problem. Too many people ruled by money, need some real knowledge.
@ikeepitrealZ22 well, maybe it's because im not a fan of polarizing hip hop into what's supposedly real or not... I know some artists are motivated by money rather than love and passion for the music, but most of all I'm just interested in being a fan of good music and listening to music that makes me feel good.
I agree, listen to what you like, no need to categorize things.
My point is that "How to Rap: The Art and Science of the Hip-Hop MC" is full of positive knowledge. That will surely help produce more skillful hip-hop in the future. The more people who read it the more effective. It is great to see people sharing and spreading this knowledge. No need to be annoyed by it, it is much better than seeing people complain and argue with each other. Change your perspective. PEACE
Well I was cruising through Blackalicious songs and stumbled upon this one. Memories to the max, I use to blast this song on Pandora grinding on MapleStory lmao.... Sad days.
@dehigg01 ahhhhhhhhh maplestory... good times.... i had almost forgotten about all the hours i spent grinding on that game listening to music like this =) lol
If anyone ever listens to this song and says or thinks something along the lines of "this is gay as fuck, put on lil wayne" (or any other mainstream rapper) then, i hate to say it, but, uh, they deserve to be bitch slapped and pissed on at the same time. So if ever put in that situation, uh, ya, i think its obvious... and that mean atleast 21 people need to be pissed on...
The moral of the story is that some go, while money makes the inner vision crumble, so if you're blessed with a talent utilize it to the fullest, be true to yourself and stay humble!
Yeah, the man is chasing the dollar, though it's as elusive as bigfoot, so in other words, seeking fulfillment and self-validation through external material means is pointless, ironic and paradoxical...and what he said!
Damn I am feeling the song and I am feeling the video even more . . "chasing paper" . .hot shit . . This is where HIP-HOP needs to get back to for real . . ! !
@straightfromdaheart It's funny what's now considered "intelligent hip hop" because I really don't see what was so intelligent about that, im assuming as long as the music isn't about money, hoes, cars etc. it's "intelligent hip hop". Quite sad, on the other hand the song is fairly good. lol
@BluePeaSkateCo its not intelligent because it doesn't talk about stereotypical themes in today's rap, it's intelligent because it has a good message for those that listen.
@galept My comment wasn't intended for your opinion buddy. how is "don't let money change ya" a good message anyway? It's doesn't take an intelligant person to not let money change you..
@BluePeaSkateCo not only is it a good message if you're not too daft to understand it, but their songs are multisyllabic, have complex rhymes and Chief Xcel makes classic beats. This is intelligent hip hop at its finest.
shame on me .. i almost forget this classic

Hmm why don't you think about it.
Mainstream rap is complete crap.
Everyone is complaining about how bad mainstream is and why the underground is so underrated and whatnot.
The smartest thing to do is offer the solution to this problem instead of complain about it.
The solution. Read a book written with an endless list of proven skilled rappers input.
So yea Im glad every time I see someone promote that HOW TO RAP book, because it could be the source of great future hip hop.

"don't let money change ya"

@galept My comment wasn't intended for your opinion buddy. how is "don't let money change ya" a good message anyway? It's doesn't take an intelligant person to not let money change you..

@BluePeaSkateCo not only is it a good message if you're not too daft to understand it, but their songs are multisyllabic, have complex rhymes and Chief Xcel makes classic beats. This is intelligent hip hop at its finest.

@galept You spelled intelligent wrong...so clearly you have no idea what you are talking about concerning intelligence..

@morbo5247
funny how you link intelligence to correct word spelling or stuff like that, which has nothing to do with intelligence

@Spankedellic Yeah because smart people are known for their ability to spell simple words incorrectly. Holy shit you are retarded.
