  • I suspect that it's physically impossible to listen to organ playing like that and NOT develop bobble head like characteristics

  • ?..to the random black lady! haha

  • Reminds me of Paolo Nutini. Without the slurred alcoholism.

  • 2:53 I love this guy.

  • I F***ing love this song.

  • i like that rpoland keeps posting live records - they show that music, in some occasions, can be made with heart.

  • Matthew, I skimming through your videos long ago when you played solo, let me tell you, you sound 4 times better with a band! I actually want to listen to your songs all the way through! - Jesse ~ The Chimney Swifts

  • man these guys sound a lot like Dave Matthews Band. really good to hear these guys!

  • Wooooooow Mad Respect for Santos, I love his stuff and get shocked that I still can't find him in the music stores yet.

  • Sweet Jesus, that drummer has such a sweet pocket. he's carrying the whole band in it.

  • Freaking amazing

  • Just great. great musicians, great singers, great music. Guys, please, could you write the lyrics here like coment? I'm brasilian and i dont understand yet all i liesten in english. thanks!

  • The musicianship in this is off the charts (my personal charts). Extremely soulful and with gobbs of talent. Keep it up CandyRat!

  • I don't play the drums well but I can't help but to think that the drummer is smiling because he's surrounded by such awesome musicians and artists.

  • His voice sounds like Jeff Buckley

  • @ShiftyOnizuka i agree

  • where are the lyrics??? i am googling half an hour :@....

  • haha i first heard this song when they put it out and i ran into it the other day going through my favorites... have heard it like 5 times a day since

  • Matthew Santos sounds like a male Adele.... pure amazing

  • No auto tune and computer generated noises. Thats how musics suppose to be played

  • @MrKingvanilla83 There's a load of computer generated noises coming from that keyboard

  • @GarretsShadow cmon man you know what i mean

  • @MrKingvanilla83 except that nord keyboard is an analog emulator and has a cpu chip in it lol. But I agree with you about the auto-tune.

  • @drbulbus haha you know what i mean by computer generated sound lol

  • @MrKingvanilla83 ...except the for the keyboard ahaha which is comptuer generated :P but other then that everything you said is true

  • @MrKingvanilla83 ..lol sorry I am the second person to say that too you ahah

  • @MrKingvanilla83 lol, you realise there is a synth player right? xD nothing wrong with synthesisers.

  • @MrKingvanilla83 my bad. what am i, like the third person to say that. too busy watching the video to scroll down past the top comments :L

  • @theeaterofpie yeah lol blah blah theres a difference blah blah blah lol i think it takes more talent to play synths then to touch a couple of buttons on a computer

  • @MrKingvanilla83 but thats like comparing someones skill of painting against someone elses skill in dancing. production and performance are entirely different aspects of music. people had the same opinion as yours about pianos at one point, as people deemed them to be 'cheating'. people should embrase technology, not hate on it. rant over lol.

  • @theeaterofpie imo opinion you have more talent if you play an actually instrument then if you play some cool sounding beats on a computer and have someone else sing your lyrics

  • @MrKingvanilla83 then i take it you know very little about music production :L i'm not saying either takes more talent, as they are completely different. Your idea of electronic music seems to be the use of presets and drawing in midi notes o.0

  • @theeaterofpie im not talking about production. sheesh. ive seen people seriously just push about 3 buttons and it makes a bunch of noises and they think their something. And i know plenty about music

  • Extremely nice live session , candyrat keeps impressing =]

  • damn, that was nice

  • Talented vocalists right there

  • Love your soul. /Kay

  • Good..., very good...

    A great sound. - Chicao

  • AMAZING! :DD

  • He's back. : )

  • seriously, some of the coolest 2-person harmonies i've heard in a while. great stuff

  • Very cool, Beautiful voice ! Congratulations ..

  • SO GREAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Bass player has some nice n' saucy tone.

  • Oh I was brought back to this gem; I LOVE THIS sooooooo much. POWERFUL vibrations. A most beautiful happy vibration flowing through to my very core. WOW!! I needed this. :-))) THANKS for the click of my finger.

  • is it just me, or does he have something of Jeff Buckley about him?

  • Andy Mckee on bass and Pino Forastiere on drums..whaat!?

  • @Made4EvilUsed4Good hahaha

  • Every now and then while wading through the fecal filled waters of the music scene, you stumble upon true greatness.... today this is it. This music is fresh, and tasteful. Candy Rat always seem to find more diamonds than anyone else... keep it up

  • offtopic. It's so weird seeing him with hair

  • Omg for some reason i've been listening to this song for a week now, every single day. And i evertyime i listen it i love. It's kinda like "Mh, i want to hear some groovy music" and automaticly youtube pops out :P

  • i think the organ sounds like sex when its not an over kill. i like this song, the organ hasnt killed me as much as everyone else.

  • @jamesal but i do think a piano would sound even better

  • how does everyone in the world not fiend for this stuff?

  • HOW DO YOU GET ON RPO RECORDS???? I ACTUALLY BELIEVE I HAVE WHAT IT TAKES, BUT I AM A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT MUSICIAN, i USE THE COMPUTER KEYBOARD, AS A INSTRUMENT, INSTEAD OF CREATING COMPOSITIONS, I PLAY IT LIVE, AS A INSTRUMENT AS LONG AS I HAVE A LAPTOP, ANY PROGRAM TO OUTPUT NOTES AND I CAN PROVE TO YOU ALL I CAN BE A PRODIGY OF A COMPLETELY NEW EXPERIMENTAL TYPE OF MUSIC, I AM UPLOADING A AMAZING SONG SOON HERE REALLY APPRECIATE ANYONE LISTING TO IT AND GIVE COMMENT A THUMBS UP TO HELP ME!

  • @XxMaLcLmPwNsxX No offence, mate, but Caps Lock should be familiar to a guy who uses a laptop regularly. Also, you sound slightly obsessed.

  • @XxMaLcLmPwNsxX well...Rpoland IS a record company that focuses on compositions and classical/acoustic music....it also depends in what you mean in your music...i don't see much techno in CANDyRAT..just sayin P:

  • Yeah a little less organ wouldn't have hurt.

  • Why is anyone critiquing this fantastic, talented, and already established artist? What have you got to show for? Matthew Santos and his band are GREAT

  • @KBerns11 you would be suprised whats waiting out there in the world my friend... disabled, sick, unrespected musicains, even people in jail and addicted to the hardest drugs out there ARE the best in the world, period, these ppl should be extremely grateful they have made it in the industry when myself, disabled(unable to walk do to ligements in my knee) i used to play drums very well and i now focous on NEW experimental ideas with what i have left of my body, i play a computer keyboard LIVE

  • @XxMaLcLmPwNsxX thats really great that you strove to find new ways of musical expression after loosing the ability to walk and that is something to be proud of. I just dont understand how this relates to my comment. I was responding to all the comments about how the organ sucks and w/e. I myself am a musician and have heard music from the most unlikely ppl like the ones you have listed. the "what have you got to show for?" remark was responding to any nonmusicans critiquing this

  • Did not expect that vocal tone from him. Great!

  • Great stuff. Someone shut that keyboard up though! I mean he's good, just not needed in the song.

  • masterpiece!

    Please continue to make music..

  • really nice song =) best videos which shows how all band plays on studio=) if I were you I'd change mic position for guitar more close to the end of fretboard , around 12th fret.

  • sounds somewhere between jack johnson and paolo nutini . . it's a good place to be =]

  • Matthew you have a ridiculously awesome, unique vocal sound - keep rockin!

  • is that the same keyboard player that plays for lupe fiasco?

  • @GhostGuerrilla Lupe found him though us!

  • @MatthewSantosMusicCo thats really cool. i figured there could be a connection because of superstar. anyway hes a fantastic musician. i cant wait for the album to come out. i will certainly buy it.

  • Beautiful song and interesting voices !

  • Really soulful. I love it!

  • G:D!!

  • all are just awsome, but the singer and the drummer are just insane... its not easy to keep that swinging rhythm...

    i love candyrat <3

  • @RB1991rox HOE! How dare you leave the rest of these amazing musicians out of that comment.

  • oh man this one is great, just pure great.

Love it, and thanks to let me have so good mood now:DDD

  • sincerly it rocks hard and and i can't do anything but to grooove along!!!! keep composing like this!!!

  • The keyboard player must be a Stevie Wonder's relative somehow LOL

  • Oh this is delightful every note in the instruments and lovely vocals; Yes a most delightful Gem. Thanks for this refreshing musical wonder. (Hey love the organ; just all flowing into a melodious calming of my soul.;-))) LOVE LOVE LOVE. THANKS!!!! On my subscribes today. :-)))))) Oh YEH!!!!

  • I found the organ to be a little muddy and distracting. Great vocals, though, and interesting percussion.

  • @Znatnhos I actually found that the vocal had a nice influence on the whole song....

  • @Znatnhos I'd agree. I don't think organ is bad instrumentation, but you're right, it's a little deep for the setting. Give it some edge and brightness and i'd be throwin' the money blob urrwhere.

  • @KrummyBear What are you two listening to this on? The whole arrangement/mix sounds great on my 8 inch studio monitors (speakers).

  • @drbulbus I'm listening with headphones... so no, audio clarity is not my problem. And frankly, I didn't mean to indicate I don't love this (I do)... this is the bee's cock. I was just trying to say that for me personally, the vocal phrasing is my favorite, and it feels a little covered by the organ... Example... I think this would sound sexy as fuck with that little (huge) hammond B3 they've got chillin' in the background.

  • sounds amazingly close to DMB! If i hadnt heard it hear i may have thought it was one of their new songs, but im high too....yeah

  • Liked this alot, but I'm a bit torn on the mixing. Not really sure if I liked the balance of the guitar and the keys. And speaking of keys, why not use an actual ORGAN, when it's right there, in the video even? :p

  • Nice :D

  • great stuff, feel like its about a minute too long, and maybe a little too busy overall? like it though.

  • amazing voice!

  • I love what your doing Matt. I'm a true fan. Love the product. Keep original. Chad Johnson

  • wow yeah someone said dmb similar sound, but at higher registers yes, very much.

  • absolutely amazing.

  • This is great, I'll be getting that CD.

  • I can't really understand the comments about unindividuality or missing innovation. Voicewise, lyricswise and allover songwritingwise Matthew Santos seems to me incredible creative. There is a feeling with the music that I rarely can find these days anywhere.

  • @mayakikun I agree. I don't know what innovation anyone could be looking for, at least in the music. With 12 notes and only so many keys, you can bet that it's already been done. For the song as a whole, the most "innovative" thing I could think of is a song that startles the masses, and the songs that do that are the kind that people stop listening to very quickly.

  • Sounds awesome!

  • sounds like DMB right?

  • very well produced recording, singer kind of has that jeff buckley sound

  • Sounds like Jay Spooner Trio. Good music, but would like to see more innovation. The sound is way better than anything I could make, no question, I'm not trolling, the voice and music is overall great, but with those gifts, INNOVATE =) best of luck (breakdown at 1:58 was my favorite part) and I agree with what @WillieWallace92 said, and I think its cause girls will also listen to music like that and dance to it. They show up at a venue, males show up.

  • Thanks for t his Rpoland! Also... would it be too much to ask for more of Matthew Santos or TRoK for the following weeks? These guys are incredible.

  • I'm sorry, but why does everyone have to sing in that same style nowadays? I just can't seem to escape it. It's not necessarily bad, it's just EVERYWHERE!

  • @omly85 I do hear it in very few places. Miss that mans music.

  • Amazing job excellent performance

  • Love it (although on my system the bass came through more than vocals which was a bit distracting). More!

  • 2:26 fell in love

  • That was excellent. Not sure if it's my system or the mixing on the track, but the levels sounded a little funky in places. Testament to the track, though, that it's still so engrossing despite this.

  • This song is mad tight! Great songwriting!

  • I've had this same playlist on for like over an hour and it's only got 7 songs in it...

  • cool .......

  • I get a Dave Mathews groove somewhere in there

  • cool groove:O)

  • I have watched this many times.... I love it!!!

I also like the video ... It is great to you all in the studio... Love that!!

  • As always, thank you candyrat records for bringing more brilliant music to my ears, and GET A UK TOUR :)

  • What a strong first showing at Candyrat!

  • @wuzuquanguy83 it's not his first showing, he already released an album on candyratrecords! :)

  • @K1LL14N Oh, my bad. Well, what a good first showing to me!

  • awesome !

  • I luv this!!!!!!!! xx

  • The song is pretty good, the main lead is impressive but the vocals need some fine tuning (mainly to start after and finish before the lead does - to effectively blend in, not "stick out" so to speak). All in all, great job!

  • 0:28 I just wanna make it OOOO-KET! :)

  • if anyone is wondering, this is the guy who did the chorus for that Lupe Fiasco song!

  • Great voice.

  • really good !!!!

  • would be great to hear him singing with Adele or Jessie J.

  • @SeriogiNhere And with Lana Del Rey...

  • Dave Matthews Antos

  • Hey Matthew, i remember hearing you in Bill's class/spiritual circle at Columbia few yrs back! Great to see things are working well for you! All the best1

  • What a GREAT Song!!!! Great JOB! Later...

  • finally a video with good vocals

  • Good song, nice channel.

  • Excellent! This why I subscibe, you deliver fresh talent. Maximum Respect

  • Amazing!

  • Sounds like he borrowed his voice a bit from Dave Matthews, who coincidentally made a song called "Grave Digger", in which he asks the grave digger to make his grave shallow. :P

  • finally someone besides trevor gordon, good stuff

  • @gabrielusa911 Hey, Trevor Gordon's great!

  • TOTALLY AMAZING!!!!!!! I can beleive it ...what a voice!!!

  • 0:09 Cillian Murphy look-alike :0

  • lol, Andy Mckee on the bass?

  • @NEXutTORUSramenMETAL I don't think so

  • @NEXutTORUSramenMETAL look in the desciption, Graham Burris (bass)

  • Sounds Great!

  • Excellent live recording!! Added to the worldunitedmusicDOTblogspotDOTcom Website under the Blues category. Very well done!

  • Candyrat has some of the best musicians I have heard this past year.....Don Ross, Miller, this guy etc! I hope it is a label that continues to produce music of real musicians! Great stuff!

  • damn... this is great ^^

  • this is really good ...real artistry ...thanks for the upload my best Jamie Glaser

  • Great song and great performance!!!

  • I really enjoy his music!

  • Andy Mckee On bass? (;

  • This worries me that this doesn't make air play.....No clue what it takes anymore to be mainstream....Possibly have no talent and a sex tape? :)

  • Talent overload

  • Hey, KEXP...it's spelt Mathieu.

  • excellent voice ! :)

  • Ahh, no more mohawk?

  • Really, really, nice voice.

  • he has hairrrrrrr

  • I think the percussion is a bit to overpowering, It's taking away a little bit from the vocal and keyboards melody. HOWEVER! I am sick, so it may just be that my ears are too sensitive. I might post my thoughts after I feel better if they change. Regardless thats just my perspective. All and all, wonderful song. Im also a musician, but don't have any of my work up yet. Im still in the experimental and production. TO WHOM EVER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COMPOSITION!!! Get a youtube channel.

  • Yeah, this is good)

  • he sounds a bit like Dave Matthews.

  • @felipe0mange

    ^ this

  • You get facebook publicity from me. =) Great composition. And beautiful voices.

  • Great style, but his first single should be something with a strong hook and unfortunately, this doesn't have hook enough to get the attention he had with fiasco.

  • WOAH!!!! You have hair now!! So glad to see you recording again! It's been awhile. Buying this album RIGHT NOW!!! Thanks! Great as usual. :)

  • OMG! He's back! And he took the woman with him. I love "daughter of the son"!
