  • Little Bear rules, he is the best thing to happen to the GD since Brent died.

  • If John is good enough for Bob and Phil...he's good enough for us...

  • john is the man....haters can shut it

  • He's not trymg to be Jerry - he's trying to be John, and he's a fine musician!

The important thing is the music and that the music continue on, even though individuals will come and go. Do you really think Jerryn would want his bandmates to go into seclusion now that he's gone? Hell, No!!

He's on the other side smiling, glad to see that they are keeping the music alive!!!!

  • Sorry, that's set I-song I on that smokin' Shakedown Street from 1982-05-23 at the Greek Theatre, Berkley, CA. One of the most incredible Shakedown Streets I've ever heard. Bobby's guitar is turned up enough in the mix to where you can actually hear him and Jerry out does himself again. It's just the best Shakedown, check it out. I think you can get it at Trader's Den or e-tree. If not go to archive.org and you can at least hear it though it will be mp3, which I don't use except to stream.

  • If you all want to hear how a mind-blowing Shakedown Street sounds like, listen to 1982-05-23 at the Greek Theatre. Set II- song one. I've seen several Grateful Dead shows & 5 or 6 Jerry Garcia Band shows Like the 2 nights of Jerry Band at Merriweather Post, Maryland in September of 1988, with Bob Weir and Rob Wasserman opening.Awesome shows. Jerry always seemed happiest when playing with his own band. Jerry Garcia was the Grateful Dead.Irreplaceable..Bob & Phil should do something else ,new.

  • @stc123420 you saw like 6 GD shows. you are really not qualified to have an opinion.

  • If it's good to Bob and Phil isn't that enough for the "fans"...

  • Driving back from San Francisco the other night, to my home in Mendocino County, I was blessed to hear our local public broadcasting station play some tunes by Further at a recent Philadelphia concert. The Shakedown opener caused me to look something up here on YT, and thus I found this video. Great rendition, nice style. I think this band has matured and are sounding awesome. Thanks for posting this video.

  • Please go home with your ball if you choose to criticize. The music will never stop. ;-)

  • the band plays music, not to retread the past, but to continue into the future. always improving and trying new things. The band wrote a letter to Jerry in 1981 after the Europe tour in which Jerry was compromising the music with his cocaine and heroin addiction asking him to straighten up or leave the band. Props to john kadlecik for giving the fans something to shakedown to!

  • haha bob's been hitting the gym. nasty shakedown though. wish i was around to see jerry play

  • apparantly john K plays even better around his birthday. that break it down now was fan freakin tastic!

  • tony rice unit comes to the watseka theatre watseka illinois on may 7, 2011

  • that guy is kind of damed if he does, damned if he don't... if he plays/sings too much like jerry people will hate and call him a poser... and if he doesn't people just say he's not jerry enough. props to him for having the balls to even try to fill those shoes.

  • @schofizzl John K is awesome... The dude is living his dream and sharing his talent with us as he does. I'm glad John and his big balls is playing for us!

  • @schofizzl agreed. I'm 22, I've never seen the dead with Jerry. These guys are doing it for us, the fans. You know they got enough money to call it quits, they are getting old. We are the reason these guys are still doing what they do and they are trying to appease us. I see no reason for anyone to ever bitch about them.

  • Further, is exactly what it means, continuing on, Give the guys some slack, They are playin for the Fans, The Will get their groove..Onward>>>>>>Jerry-RIP-would want the band to keep on playin, after all, that's what it is all about..peace-===//\paulo

  • @BrokedDownPalace It may also have a bit to do with the fact that they actually ENJOY still making great music.??.

  • @schofizzl FEEL YOU 100 % it bugs the shit out of me that people dont understand that Jeryy (r.i.p.) is gone unfortunately and if u are a true deadhead YOU WANT TO SEE THEM LIVE and SHOULD be happy that theyve foung someone as AMAZING as John K to keep Jerrys legacy alive. He i super tight and has done a great job of learning and recreating Jerrys musical style on the guitar and vocals!

  • @lilscotty1987 he still doesnt have as much talent as jerry. hes good.... but he is not jerry! he did not create that style of guitar playing!!! JERRY DID!!! He just has the skill to copy but not the skill to create!

  • @DRUMMER69512 You should read some reviews with John Kadlecik and you'll realize the guy was deep into music way before he got into the Dead. I both agree and disagree with you: Jerry is a better guitarist because he wrote all that music but honestly I think John has reached a level of proficiency Jerry was at. A lot of people do, at some point an instrument you move beyond most technical limitations and it just becomes about what notes you choose to play.

  • @ijonahperson I would have to agree with you... i men he is technically and feel wise as good as jerry... but he's not him you know man? But i see where your steppin and i respect it and understand it.

  • @ijonahperson Come on man I've seen the Grateful Dead with Jerry 28 times starting in 1987 & Jerry Garcia Band ^ times starting in 1988. I mean "i men he is technically and feel wise as good as Jerry".What does that mean? This cover band guy isn't even in the same league. I'm glad to see Bob and Phil still playing but Jerry isn't replaceable. they could have done something like switch people @ like Warren 1 nite Santana 1 nite, etc. Not use the same wanna-be.It's like tryin' to replace Hendrix.

  • @stc123420 stop it, you sound like a fool.

  • Respond to this video... and this furthur dude, whatever the hell his name is, will never have a 2/28/69 drk str/st stphn/ the 11 experience.... NEVER!!

  • @schofizzl BUT LIKE YOU SAID HELL NEVER BE JERRY.....BUT NOBODY EVER SAID HE WAS HES JUST FILLING A PART TO KEEP THE DEAD ALIVE. LOL DEAD ALIVE OXYMORON!!! I HATE THESE PEOPLE WHO CALL THEMSELVES HIPPIES OR DEADHEADS BUT THEN THEY JUST TRASH EVERYONE THAT ISNT AN ACTUAL LIVING MEMBER!! THATS NOT WHAT ITS ABOUT ITS ABOUT COMING TOGETHER AND HAVING A GOOD TIME IN HONOR OF JERRY ETC. ITS WHAT HE WOULD HAVE WANTED!!

  • hes no jerry.but he can jam.

  • found myself dancing for some unknown reason with a girl at the beer stand...

  • found myself dancing for some unknown reason with a girl at the beer stand???

  • fucking LOVE SHAKEDOWN STREET

  • But why did he stop singing like Jerry.... What A Drag.....

  • Fantastic Video! just saw them at the rocks and they blew it up!

  • @kronikoverdrive sigh* lucky..

  • Yes this is why John Kadlecik left Dark Star

  • @MrWach24 Why did he stop doing the jerry Voice.. what a drag...

  • is this why he left dark star? if so, thats totally understandable, lol

  • @kyilljessmon It's like John Bell and Jerry Garcia had a kid.....

  • Bobby is surely,slowly,turning into a ferrit

  • The lead singer is from a band called Hairball Willey out of chicago before forming DSO food for thought..

  • @TheSkyline365 What is his name?

  • @jenniferjuniper97 JOHN FUCKING KADLECEK!!!!!!!!!!!!
