@ aerodynamics...this interview is two years old...they were pretty much just out of high school and hadn't yet recorded Native Speaker -- all they had was an EP of music recorded during a radio appearance, and didn't/don't think of this teen goofyness as a statement of serious "musical intent." They've now grown up a bit and realize an off-the-cuff remark can continue to be quoted and posted, as is this video, for a long time.You'll never know what was left out or why this part was kept.
Way to go Braids!!! If you can see them in concert you'll understand how a spectacular metaphor can operate within music and not only language and literature--then again, music is a form of language, and The Braids are using it communicate a life of the senses.
