Makes sense to me. You said everything that is running through my head anyway. I don't know why your videos never came up in my search before on spinal cord injuries prior to today, but I'm glad they finally did. Sad that I have to find comfort through YouTube, but I thank you for sharing your story. I am such a dork that I even sent an email to Steven Hawking, just to ask him how he gets through every day and move past the frustration & pain. Anyhoo...thanks again for your time.
hi matt - awesome good work on your vids. i'm coming up on my 3 yrs post on dec 24th - i am an incomplete t12 l1 para. its been hell lots of fricking hard work with all that you talk about in this vid. for peace little brother.
You're right on about being smarter than your doctors....you probably are! They don't know what it's like to be inside your body, so make them listen to you. If you don't advocate for yourself, it's harder than anything to get good medical care. Gotta love the USA!
Im currently studying occuaptional therapy and am learning about Spinal cord injuries and the affects they can have on peoples lives. Listening to your youtube videos, my heart breaks. I think life is so unfair and im so sorry. Im touched but what you say. The strength you have to say the truth. Anger is a scary thing, without learning how to release it, life can be hell. Keep going Matt, find strength in the mind. Keep workn with your mind- the one gr8 gift thats the most powerful
Somehow I "felt" over one of your video and it impressed me so much, that I just become a member of youtube to send you a short message;) Sorry, that my english is not really perfect but I am watching your video here in Germany and try to understand everything I hear...*gg*I only want to tell you, that your character and your charisma (<- do you use this word in english, too??) is really impressing and it touched me so much.Do not give up! Is 48 your birthday? So: Lion-keep strong;))
Hi there. I had a back injury 1 year ago and have been in intense nerve pain myself. It is horrible. I feel like my back is on fire as well as my limbs. I just hope one day it will just go away. I take a lot for the pain. The emotional pain is also as tough as the physical pain. I can't do a lot that I use to. I've been reading about stem cells and hope that maybe it will be able to help me.
I think that as time passes you will get stronger and I don't want to say you'll get used to it because I don't think you will but I think you'll find ways to cope with your new disability. I was watching one of your other short videos and you were expressing that you wanted to go snowboarding or sleigh riding maybe you should like invent something like that; If you talk to the right people I'm sure they could make that happen. Sleighing for quads.lol. That would be cool.
its easy to say to ppl like "stay positive" or sth like this, but i know its really hard when you face the truth.but anyway,i try my best, every person goes through tough things during the daliy life,so hang in there,ur family and ur friends are there,be with u,forever!kisses
I'm a student nurse and I'm doing care of a quad guy for almost a year now as my part time job, that's why I can emphatize with you on what you're saying coz i've been hearing all those things every time I'm giving care to my quad guy.
for the bp can't they give you some kind of "upper" drug i mean something to stimulate you? i'm totally ignorant of spinal cord injuries and how it can affect blood pressure, maybe b/c of the damaged nerve ganglia in the sympathetic chain? i have no idea. Just wondering, can't they give you some kind of stimulant?
@XforeverlongingX i have tried everything in the book! but if you mean amphetamines as a stimulant, no i have not used any. i do often wonder though.... its totally random drops throughout the day or somedays its the whole day. somedays are good too but everyday is a guessing game. my blood pressure may honestly be the largest part of my disability. i want to hopefully document an attack. i think that its been like this since i woke up from my decompression and fusion from a spinal cord injury.
i'm amazed by you. you're an incredible guy, and good looking too. keep it up. you're amazing.
