Nazy Germany was a ally of Kuomitang (Nationalist) China and Chiang Kai-Shek due to share of ideology. But when Japan attacked China it didn't help to his ally. This is called "Ost Battalions" in german.

Ost battalions (from the German word Ost meaning "east") were battalions which fought in the Second World War, composed of volunteers from captured Soviet soldiers and civilians. Only few of these men survived the war and the reprisals that followed.
