I was there. Not the greatest show of that "awesome" '89 Summer Tour. I hardly remember this to be perfectly honest, but what I do remember of this two-night stand was a beautiful hot blond sitting next to with two other friends (both girls) and it was late in the second set on the second night and they go into Sugar Magnolia and until that point we not said a word to each other. Before I knew it we were making-out to the shocked look on the faces of her friends! She was an airline stewardess!!
@penningtonant yes for sure...i also see it big time from Jerry for Brent =) Brent was a huge life force for Jerry to feed off. often when Brent would go off, youd see Jerry just as happy as all of us at the show,,,usually smiling and watching...love it!!
One of my favorite songs. tried to see the dead after Jerry passed away and got to the gate and turned around, gave tickets away. Just couldn't do it didn't feel right. Just wish my kids could've experience the shows and the friendliest, nicest, kindest people you will ever meet. Seen over 20-shows and never once did I see a fight. To all you Dead Heads I say Thank You :-) and Jerry we miss you...
This was my first and only Dead show (I got a miracle ticket from a dear friend after spending a few helpless nights in Foxboro!! How sweet is that!?!) I was fortunate enough to see Jerry again when he came to OOB, ME later on-I wonder does anyone have any additional video? One of my most vivid memories of that day was walking out of the Meadowlands singing "Not Fade Away" with thousands of other devoted fans!
Ha. First song (they opened with this) at my first Dead show at Giants Stadium. Los Lobos opened up this show. I still have the concert t-shirt. Fred Flintstone on the back, smoking a joint, saying, "Yabba Grabba Doobie."
this was a very hot show - music and weather - they brought out the hoses and doused everyone on the field, now that was fun- and yes we were on shakedown street that night
It's funny to look at these stadiums seeing all those people and knowing damn well there is a flood of people outisde that could not get in because the show sold out. I wonder how big of a stadium they could have filled? Granted not every seat is full but that is ofen because of scalpers.
one of my favorites ...saw these guys in Golden Gate 3 days after I left Nam and a the same day as I was discharged was handed a big bomber ...was a great day toked up...
@Davviiidd I don't have a video of that one :( I Wish I did... I can upload an AUD if you want me too, but I just don't have the concert footage. Sorry dude.
@axwell21 Yeah, it came with this book called "The Grateful Dead Scrapbook." If you want the DVD, I guess you have to get the "Deluxe version" (I just checked on Amazon.) There's also a CD with clips of interviews. I got it as a gift, it's a beautiful book.

It is adorable; Brent's adoration for Jerry is palpable. May the both of them rest peacefully.

this is one of the best shakedowns of the late 80's. The Jack Straw that follows this is great too.
