actutally there supposed to tune on stage because they want to make sure that the strings don't slipp right before playing. and I know because I play violin.

@SydneySpandex uh that's not rly the reason the reason is they do that to see how the instruments adjust to the hall .. there are lot more complicated reasons than that and i know this because i play violin.
