It is a longer scale guitar, tuned lower, with stiffer, fatter strings. Think of between a bass and a guitar. It has a very different tone as you can tell.
he's making me one in the shape of a gibson corvus. figured maple top/northern ash back. bocote neck, macassar ebony fretboard. it's gonna have golden age overwounds and the l.r. baggs piezo in it. really really looking forward to it
No its both. The scale (string length) is about three inches longer as is necessary for the lower tuning. You could tune a regular guitar with very heavy strings that low but it would not sound as full.
The strings are also a heavier gauge 13-62. So, this baritone guitar is actually somwhere in between a bass (with even longer and heavier strings and lower tuning) and a regular guitar.
Strings for a baritone ARE regular guitar strings, they are just longer and heavier (fatter, thicker) as necessary for the longer neck and lower tuning. So, yes.
Well not as dark or low in sound as the Shecter Hellcat Baritone. The string gage is 90-21 and is tuned E-E but a full octave lower than a standard guitar (if you have the right gadgets you can drop it 4 octaves lower than a standard guitar). But beautiful playing by you.
A baritone implies that the range of the instrument falls somewhere between the standard guitar and a bass guitar. If the instrument is tuned an octave below a standard guitar, it is a bass instrument.
It is simply tuned down to a B, being lower. The 5th (what would normally be tuned to an A) string in this guitar is tuned to E the same as the 6th string on a regular guitar, so when you play an E chord on this baritone guitar it is actually a lower B, or an A chord, its actually the lower E, etc.
That was excellant! I bought a Fernandes Ravelle baritone about a month ago. What kind of amp are you playing through? I have never heard of Onyx Forge guitars.
Hi, that's going through a couple of my recording front end boxes: after my pedals I use primarily a Tech 21-TriAC and for reverb/echo a Yamaha MagicStomp (cheap, clean, simple). I probably used an OD on the dirty part of that demo.
The Tech 21 kills any digital modeler, its all analog
What is a baritone guitar?
The Danelectro Baritone on Musiciansfriend looks AWESOME. If I ever play electric I really want that one so bad.

Saw your guitar on the web site. It is very cool - great body shape - very practical. I'll bet it sounds awesome.
