In real economics, when corporate taxes increase, companies are forced to raise prices of commodities or to cut labor, or even outsource in foreign markets. More government regulation on business means less of a consumer driven society, and ironically more unemployment.

You can't say jobs go over seas for this one reason or other, you have to look at the plethora of causes and effects. Progressives like to blame wall street for economic crisis, then use rough times to justify new deal legislation.

The World Health Organization ranks USA's healthcare system at #37 in the world, while countries with socialized medicine like France (#1) populate the top ten of that list.. You can't say jobs go over seas for this one reason or other, you have to look at the plethora of causes and effects. Progressives like to blame wall street for economic crisis, then use rough times to justify new deal legislation.

"You want people in Iraq to suffer and die under an oppressive regime?". No, they just didn't want the U.S government attempting to solve the world's problems by intervening in world affairs. the same thing I'm saying about healthcare reform: it's not that I want people to die, it's just that i don't want the gov. having anymore control than it does.

@SexSteakSoda Healthcare is a good thing if you can afford it, and eventually it will cost less if more private industry is involved. The first home air conditioning unit cost $750,000, now the average yokel can get one at wal-mart for 50 bucks. Evolution takes time, and there's no amount of tears that are going to speed it up. This is just a poisonous debate that people feel they have to care about. I mean, do you really care if someone else that you don't know suffers and dies? I sure don't.

Look at WELLPOINT, the biggest health care provider in the USA, they brought in 4.7 billion dollars in 2009 alone, that same year they raised their premiums by 39%.. You fail to realize the business side of health care. Private insurance is all about profit and always will be. Aetna, UnitedHealth, Regeance, they all raise prices even when their profits are setting records. Its a monopoly. People are getting filthy rich of you being sick.

@SexSteakSoda If they are raising their prices and still getting richer, then they clearly have a sound client base. That is simply how business works. If McDonalds doubles their profits the same year they got rid of their dollar menu, is it their fault that there are people starving in the world? The way capitalism works is that someone else will come in and create a dollar menu. Competition lowers prices. There should be hundreds of insurance companies fighting over your money.

@AbjectConformity There is no competition in the health care industry. Prices never get lower, they've gone up and up and up.. Which is the reason 55 million Americans can't afford it. I think if you pay taxes, you should be entitled to health care. You're entitled to basic education K-12 from the day you're born. Education and Health care come hand in hand. You need to be smart and healthy to be successful.

There should be thousands of options and levels of health care.. privately purchased, not given to people by their employers. There should also be millions more health facilities competing the way every other business does. B. The government interfering will never increase the worth of anything. C. @AbjectConformity No, I'm a realist. I realize that some things do need to be regulated and in fact they already are. We need police, and of course cops do wrong just like Catholic Priests do wrong, because they're human beings. But in the end, they serve a purpose. Without police, we'd have total anarchy and most likely a civil war between the religious right and anyone who doesn't believe in them, i.e. American Indian Wars. I'm happy with our situation. Its better than most of the world.

@SexSteakSoda This is what worries me. We had an entire generation of people who were part of something very important while Bush was in office. It was questioning and resisting foreign policy and domestic civil liberties violations. I participated in the groups that were against giving the government tax money because it paid for weaponry against Iraqi civilians. I am quite disappointed to see everyone's apprehension and distrust dissolve now that a democrat sits at the throne?? What happened?

I am entitled to my beliefs, free speech, guns, etc. In the Preamble there is a line that says "promote the general Welfare". The word "WELFARE" means health, happiness, prosperity or well-being. There is ALWAYS a place for competition regardless of how big and powerful a company seems.. Capitalism monopoly theories are as cheap and common as end-of-the-world conspiracies. The only real, confirmed monopolies to have ever existed has been government and moral ones. As long as human beings have ambition and ideas, monopolies are impossible in a free-market.

Any other funds should be derived from private charities, and donations. A voluntary system rather than one based on compulsory taxation. Private education would be much more efficient. Home security and neighborhood security should be private markets too. Really, most of the things we pay for with tax dollars could be privatized, and would be more effective.

Not only that, private citizens have no authority over their own communities. We can just, "call the cops". ..If you attempt to carry out justice yourself, or even defend yourself... you're fucked.
