Do you have any tips for finding your balance during a gallop? I've just been grabbing the horse's mane and standing up in the saddle, but I'm sure there's a better way to gallop. =/
To gallop, you should usally go into a two-point position. Or in other words, lean forwardy, bend your knees, and lift your butt just slightly out of the saddle.
If I galloped Whisky (my horse) with me in a wedding dress he would be spooking like mad! How do u get ur horses to behave. Do u have a teqnique? I am desperate for help because i am at the end of my tether. Whisky spooks at EVERYTHING. Help me pleeeeze!
@Wildwoods123 I filmed alot of her work in the wedding dress scenes, pretty much it's a; "well... I think I can hold on, lets test it and hope I don't die" sort of thing =P. we made sure the horses were ok with her in the dress around them first, but after that just went to the idiotic final step.
@Wildwoods123 but usually if your horse is extremely spooky some bombproofing ground work helps, get someone to help you, chuck blankets at him, wave around garbage bags, bring him by lawnmowers that are on, etc etc, just slowly in a safe environment get him used to different things and help him learn that he can trust you to keep him safe.
@HunterToJumper thanks! they mostly worked but the blanket one and the lawnmower didn't, but we are working on it! but now i can ride him next to a fence!! shock horror!!! and he only spooks a bit!! yay!
@Wildwoods123 Just do little things like that slowly, he'll get used to it, the main thing is the horse needs to realize that you won't let him get hurt and they'll eventually feel safe with whatever you do with them, just keep working on it, a little every day or so. And that's great that he's getting better already!
Between me and two of my friends, (HunterToJumper and EventForLife) we have a joint channel called HorseVisionStudios. Over the weekend we filmed the preview for our upcoming series Northern Lights which is basically a movie set in medieval/victorian era. We had to dress 'old fashioned' and I am the part of the princess so that wedding dress my Aunt bought at a thrift store really came into use!
haha. I was the one who nearly got run over, twice, during the race scene. Lol, good footage is worth taking a ton of risks for. =P. I love the footage in here, but personally, it think your 50 subbers vid was best... lol This is depressing. I saw me and Bravo once, lol I was in the video at around 2:04. I love the footage Cait, it was so worth all the hard work to get.
Those horses are really pretty!! I love the grey Arab gelding. At 1.45 i think that is my fav bit!!

That's a good question!
