Next, do a school project about how Robert Mugabe is a homicidal lunatic, you will proably get an F because it`s not PC. Rhodesia was great, "Zimbabwe" is the opposite of great. I went though 12 years of attemped liberal indoctrination in public schools; it didn`t take.
not being funny, but 'great zimbabwe' is just some mud buildings that arent even 1000 years old!! 'Great' might be a little overstated lol, Harappa in Pakistan is OVER 3000 years old - that should be call 'Great Harappa' and this, 'mediocre zimbabwe' - saying that its probably called great because for black people its fucking amazing! :D
@anillondon89 for you own information, it is the 2nd largest main maid structure from the ancient world in Africa and 11th in 9th in the world. i don't know were you got the mud houses from, it was built from stone only (no mortar) that's why it's called GREAT Zimbabwe because it is the only building of its size EVER to be built in the world with no use of mortar
@rootofhope Size doesnt mean a thing, its not ancient or of any considerable age whatsoever, and has no unique features. This is mediocre Zimbabwe. Its claim to the largest and oldest ruins south of the Sahara is sadly not a great achievement since so little ancient structures adorn that part of the world.
@anillondon89 you can't be this stupid. That was STONE not mud. As for Pakistan, puhlease. Besides bones, pottery and some statues they have no large monuments that are still standing. It is nothing more than a old settlement. The words Pakistan and great do not belong in the same sentence.
Nice video but I think it's not very accurate. I lived in what was Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe for 31/2 years and went to school there. There was no claim by the Matabele or Shona that the monument had anything to do with these two tribes. Both tribes have a verbal history of travelling down to the country from somewhere in the South. There are no markings on the monument to indicate who built it or why and there is NOTHING resembling it in the land we now call Zimbabwe. It's not a city.
@104chestnut I'm sorry, but I also lived in what was then Rhodesia and I visited MANY ruins similar to Zimbabwe, only smaller in size. Queque? Gwello? I could check my old diaries. There were a scattering of ruins in the eastern highlands, too. I'm sorry you didn't get a chance to see them.
Right, there are thousands of these stone circle structures extending from South Africa through Zimbabwe and reportedly even farther north. Great Zimbabwe's "Great enclosure" is one of the largest and definitely the best preserved of them all.

@resw77 There are others further north in Sierra Leone, Mauritania etc. I think thats how people were building in b.c. and a.d. times in Africa.
