I really need to pad out my collection of 12" dance mixes. Unfortunately there's no such thing as a "complete" record collection... if not 12" disco it's UK skiffle music on 45s or first pressings of Charlie Parker records :-/
Practice makes perfect @bogiboy; this upload should have screamed "do over" to you when the first notes drag. (FYI, backcuing is pulling the record back enough from where the track starts so that the platter is at full speed when the music begins, "enough" being the key word. Usually half a revolution or so.

1976 - taken from the album "Communique". Communiqu was released in the summer of 1976 and Down to Love Town became a "Billboard Magazine Hot Dance Club Play #1" on October 30th.
They re-recorded the song for their next album ("Down to Love Town", released in 1977) and it was also released as an 12inch with Jermaine Jackson on the b-side.
This is btw the first commercial motown 12inch (hence the id) :)
@rufus317 what do you mean by "similar" - the same performers? still a good song from jermaine, though the refrain is a little to on the weak side in my book - the other parts are dope though, especially the brakdown :)
@bogiboi Similar as in same key, same breaks. I wouldn't say same performers but same rhythm section which is why they were the flip side of each other when released as a single.
2:00 into the video is the bassline for daft punk's "burnin"!

Vocals...this is not their best. As a party mover...this is their best...probably Motown's best until 2yrs later when Diana put out Love Hangover.

The re-release (Down to Love Town LP Version & 12")was more disco-fied than the original (Communique LP Version).
