The only reason everyone else complains about English colonialists is because of the fact that no one else in the history of the world were as successful as us at it.
And ps monty python is satire so get a sense of humor and if you don't like it then your either Belgian,a troll or Ben affleck of which I'm sure he could fit into all categories.
@sxcdanual: No, Islam views Jesus as no more than a prophet, while Christianity views him as the Messiah. Yes the ultimate goal is the same and there are similarities, they are NOT the same thing.
These Americans you speak of are not a people. They are made up of all European types, specially Brits, but also including Belgians. So when you say Americans exterminated the natives your talking about yourselves. I thought that most of the exterminating was done through sickness before many Europeans get there. Read Ponce De Leon account of tribes in the southeast. Like Europeans, the natives were doing a good job of exterminating each other. example are Souix vs Pawnee or Cherokee vs Creek.
@thepollywog1 Or the oh so popular Azteks - Cortez had no problems recruiting indian allies, since everyone hated the Azteks with passion. They almost wiped out culture of Tlaxcala.
to answer Sakeraljabha question, yes they do teach that we treated the Indians terribly, launched unprovoked attacks on them, etc. Since it has been suggested that "liberals" don't approve of this sort of humor, you have at least one liberal that finds this sort of humor hilarious, in fact, I have to agree with Davejt27, we have gotten too politically correct and so I must say to my fellow liberals, "lighten up!"
Well the politically correct brigade are at it again, missing the point of this sketch as i am sure they miss the point of Alf Garnett (search on here for Til death us do part and In sickness and in health) It is making a mockery of Prejudice, belittling the idiotic hatred of anyone who has a different culture or sexual preference, taking the piss out of people who hate anything that is "different" to their own beliefs and culture, but anyone with half a brain would actually see the point.
@Sakeraljabha It is a shame that you view the United Kingdom so negatively however everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Nevertheless can I ask a favour, no matter how much you despise the UK would you please stop desecrating our language? Business lawyer in the US? I smell the nonsensical spouting of a troll.
@Sakeraliabha Honestly being a lawyer means nothing, half of your kind are cheats and morons. And considering you have spelling and grammatical errors in every one of your posts I'd say you probably understand less about english then you think. Oh well, arrogance is to be expected of a liberal.

Average people should not watch monty python. You need certain culture, sense of humor, silliness, and a very open critical mind, because that´s what everyone of the six python had (and they had all that a lot). People get always offended by these sketches, especially with the homosexual´s jokes, not knowing that Graham Chapman was homosexual himself, maybe its the time, back in those days, most average people used to read and have critical thoughts, compared with current people.
@AlexLestark And You are right, people haas to have culture, considering that English are smelly, rotten teeth, Foul breath, hypocrite, thieves and mercenaries, robbing art and Archaeology treasures around the world, Their local food is infected by the best rats in Europe, And they still have the best sense of humour to pretend that they are perfect.

@Sakeraljabha And that is a typical weak post for a person who has nothing better to do than moan about the British. What is your problem? did we once own your country and make it better for you before we gave it back or something?
@shaunshanks03 Don't get upset, Sakeraljabha is just your average palestinian troll - moaning about "their" land, which his ancestors, followers of the "oh so peaceful" islamic religious-ideological-political complex conquered in 637, killing, expulsing and forcibly converting all the christian and also most of remaining jewish population and now saying, that it was theirs "since forever" - a place which history goes much much longer than the ultimate inhumane monstrosity called "islam".
@CzechMirco You obviously don't understand how the world works my friend. You see, what you are describing is how essentially every country works. Almost all of the places currently inhabited by humans have been conquered and taken over since the year 600. England wasn't English yet, but they still consider it their land. Why should palestinians feel any differently? And keep the Islamophobia to yourself, no one else agrees or gives a fuck about your bigoted views.
@sxcdanual Well you certainly inadvertantly made my point - the jews, who have certainly a better claim to the land have conquered it "boo hoo" poor Palestinians, after 1400 years, the table turned on you - and by only your fault, because it was Palestinian arabs together with neighbouring arab countries who in blatant disregard for UN rejected the binding General Assembly resolution 181 from November 1947 (and have thus forever lost any credibility in calling anyone else disregarding UN resolu
And regarding my islamophobia - I dont know, what hubris entitled you to speak for "everyone" and "noone", and I dont know, where do you live, but I can assure you, that quite a lot of people in Western and Central Europe do, because they are witnesses and victims of agresive, hateful islamic ideology, which is inherently and irrevocably incompatible with the universal human rights and with basic inherent freedoms of individuals.
@CzechMirco I've lived in England, the U.S and Canada. I've met thousands of muslims in my life and Islamic fundamentalism is terrible, yes, but Islamic ideology in general is essentially the same as Christianity. Their holy books are virtually identical and it makes no sense to hate one more than the other. Maybe study the Qur'an for a while or something. The fact that this is your opinion shows how ignorant you are. I'm sorry, but there is no one group of people in the world that is all bad.
@sxcdanual Oh there are - not as ppl but as bearers of the ideology. Another example are communists.
And to islam and christianity - there is a fundamental difference. While christianity firmly and uniformly across all denominations agrees that Bible was written by men who tried to understand the "God's word" and interpret it according their understanding of it, islam regards Quran as true and direct "God's word", absolute, infallible, flawless and final. While christians consider
@sxcdanual the main aspect of their religion how to define one's relationship (as a being with a free will) with God (as an almighty being), for islam this question doesn't exist - because the only possible way is an absolute and total submission to God and the only question is, how to show to other ppl how absolutely devout I am. Those two aspects are firm grounds for the third aspect: nothing else but a global Umma of whole world converted to islam suffices. Christianity doesnt have such goal.
@CzechMirco What on earth are you talking about? Christians have tried to convert EVERYONE for the past two thousand years! Ever heard of missionaries? Crusades? Fuck, how can you even say that? The goals of any religion are also completely ambiguous and up for interpretation! Just stop yourself, not every muslim is a fundamentalist. I've known hundreds and not one has tried to convert me. Distance yourself from your dogmatic world views and look around you. Christianity = Islam
@Sakeraljabha I'm not sure if your joking or not....sarcasm doesn't travel well over the internet....but if your being serious let me tell you that the british dont think we are superior, we are patriotic but so are a lot of other countries. We are not all snobby and we dont all think we are superior, i know because i am british. This is just a joke. If you are joking....then im sorry i wasted your time
@charliepoet13 HAHAHAHAHA ... if u go every where in poor countries, your flag they put it in toilets ! Your society live in realy desinformation about what's happening in the world ... so, don't play the superman of human rights.
@Sakeraljabha ......i wasn't. I was trying to have a civil conversation. You know, as equals. but if your just going to slag me and my country off then im wasting my time. Just know this, that you are as ignorant as you think we are, for you are just presuming what you think is true without researching your facts and without meeting every british person, and by british i mean, England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
@Sakeraljabha well one, i don't know what 'enlgish' is, two i am a girl...but you couldn't know that so..... I know you are human.....and i am not sure what that last bit was.....anyway you keep ignoring my question so i guess you don't understand English?
@charliepoet13 yes, your right i don't undesrtand english ! Baby, I am a businnes lawyer in north america ... and I am leftist. So you can imagine why I am so sensible to british people and theur hypocrisy
@Sakeraljabha I would say the same for American Economic mistakes, but you don't see me shoving the wall street crash in your faces. We all make mistakes, if people are ever going to move forward we must forget the past and move on to the future.
@charliepoet13 YES, let's forget what happened in Palestine ! I don't know if we teach you in UK that in 1917, a british minister, called Balfour, offered Palestine as a prize for the zionist mouvement.
@Sakeraljabha Yes, but i wonder if they teach you that the Americans killed most of the Native Americans, destroyed their lands and homes. So please get my point, everyone has made horrible mistakes....but clinging to those mistakes just make them worse.
When Chapman came out to the group (very early, in fact it was before Python actually started as a show), they all decided that they wouldn't censor any jokes about homosexuality.
People also forget that gay lib, as it was called back then, was a relatively new concept. Hating gays was considered perfectly alright.
The whole point of the sketch was not really to make a major political point or anything but merely to shock.
It's not homophobic, on the contrary... They're making fun of homophobic people by showing how ridiculous it is to be discriminate. I mean, I'm Belgian, should I find this offensive? HELL NO :D
don't flatter yourself believing they would go out of their way to make discriminating jokes about your group of people alone, they did it to EVERYONE! No one is that deserving or special.
It would be discriminating if Monty Python didn't make fun of homosexuals. That would mean that homosexuals are special, since Monty Python makes fun of everything.
@anonix27 There's a sketch where they are a squad of soldiers who do a routine that screams the stereotypical 'gay' man. And as Graham points out at the end of it, it's very "silly...and a bit suspect, I think".
This skit cost them 1st prize for the best comedy at Montrose as one of the judges was from Belgium, and you also have to notice that the "Brits, "Scots" "Irish and the "Welsh" are the only nation that not only take the urine (piss) out of other nations but also of their selves and with that sence of humour, you never no where the punch line is??? Thats why humour from the fore mentioned nations is so good Dave in New Zealand
Clearly it was their plan all along. Create one of the most successful comedy troupes of all time so they can finally get away with their rampant homophobia unscathed. Brilliant!
this is comedy. put this on television nowadays and youll have law suits coming in left right and centre. how i hate how the world has become a box covered in bubble wrap and cotton trying to keep everyone happy.
and note the person shooting was made a homosexual. The sketch is AGAINST prejudice, and tries show how stupid and prejudice some T.V. presenters are.
monty python are making fun of T.V. shows which are often prejudice and just bringing to our attention that we often don't notice prejudice in them. And yes Graham was a homosexual.
@carrieonable It's a term for Gypsies, or anything/anyone scatty and slightly common/dirty. Again, like many people said, it's British satire; we all ahev something to be ridiculed. :)

PeterRoeder31 2 months ago
This skit cost them 1st prize for the best comedy at Montrose as one of the judges was from Belgium, and you also have to notice that the "Brits, "Scots" "Irish and the "Welsh" are the only nation that not only take the urine (piss) out of other nations but also of their selves and with that sence of humour, you never no where the punch line is??? Thats why humour from the fore mentioned nations is so good Dave in New Zealand

@chchdavenz You don't understand what this sketch is about.
WolfLinkZant 2 months ago
It shouldn't be relevant if any of the Pythons were gay, racist, women. It should only matter if they're funny.
ducusoare 2 months ago
Clearly it was their plan all along. Create one of the most successful comedy troupes of all time so they can finally get away with their rampant homophobia unscathed. Brilliant!

Monty Python couldn't possibly have been against homosexuals because they had Graham, who was openly gay.
KetchupSplodge 2 months ago 4
Graham Treasure was gay, ya fairies! (Btw, that last part is a quote from Python itself)
withalittlehelpfrom3 2 months ago
The person who shot the homosexual was made out to be a homosexual himself. So it was obviously poking fun at hypocritical people.
deadstillcurious 2 months ago 4
@98smithg you're crazy. This is against prejudice and being homophobic. Don't you understand irony? Satire? Good old fashion exaggeration?

TheHorribleGuitarist 2 months ago 3
this is comedy. put this on television nowadays and youll have law suits coming in left right and centre. how i hate how the world has become a box covered in bubble wrap and cotton trying to keep everyone happy.
kierenlincoln95 2 months ago 5
Are so many people really so stupid that they do not understand satire and require explanations? Well I think we should shoot those people.
MarcBrewer 2 months ago 2
and note the person shooting was made a homosexual. The sketch is AGAINST prejudice, and tries show how stupid and prejudice some T.V. presenters are.
5556665012008 2 months ago 4
monty python are making fun of T.V. shows which are often prejudice and just bringing to our attention that we often don't notice prejudice in them. And yes Graham was a homosexual.
5556665012008 2 months ago 2
The Pythons were not homophobic. Graham himself was a homosexual.
People must be stupid to think that they have prejudice against race, colour or sexual orientation.

How stupid do you need to be to think Monty Python were against homosexuals? I mean, that's almost as funny as a Python sketch in itself.
AlexisCapri 3 months ago 155
@AlexisCapri Graham Chapman himself was a homosexual. How does that work......?
