The mid eighties in the US was a fantastic time for girl bands. Just in Los Angeles you could see a new one each week. I got spoiled and made my reputation by collecting them. Only a few were even signed.
Well, let's see! The Cartridge Family made up of the keyboardist from the Brood Kristen Chalmers, the singer of The Moguls/Talismen Rick Chalmers, the younger brother Jon and younger sister Katy and the mom Nancy Chalmers. I think Ned Crab of The Moguls/Talismen played drums and maybe Doug Dellefemine. I'll try and think of more. I still have fliers from some those days in a box.
I was friends with these girls when I lived in Maine in the 80's! I spent many many nights listening to The Brood and their brother band The Moguls(later The Talismen). I wish there were more recordings from Geno's Brown St. Pub. The Gorehounds, Gargoyles, Plan 9, Dark Cellars, The Four Horsemen, so many!
@MrSuedehead72 - cauchemardesques! Wonderful - I always wondered how to say 'nightmarish' in French. If I may be so bold as to translate for the Anglo-onlys in the crowd: Super sound! The 80s were nightmarish! But happily, we had the fuzztones, cynics, fleshtones and the Dogs (super French group) and the Brood. And other obscure garage/freakbeat combos. Merci pour cette son! ;)
Dude You know about the Spys? Wow I used to Hang w/ Iggy & Johnny Flat Top at the Grotto in New Haven! Did U know those guys? I used to do a radio show on WNHU 88.7 called the Psychedelic Snarl '85-'87. Used to travel from New Haven to Portland just to catch The Brood at Geno's! The Queens of Snotty Garage Punk!
That's a Chessmen cover,very cool
