Random sul pont at 1:36...did she lose control over the bow or something, because that was an awful decision on her part to do that...sounds horrible; kudos to her for the rest of the piece, though. Amazing other than that
@Drudwinder why don't i just listen to it instead because that's how people develop artistic preferences? you failed in your retort to even make sense. what does me playing this piece have anything to do with how i listen to it? Owned noob.
perfection! i think she only made one mistake but i can't even tell because it was so fast!!!!!!! anyway it was still perfect because she to' it up!!!!!!!!
not a brilliant orchestra, but not that bad. i've played the solo part and the first fiddle part (not in the same concert); this movement is extremely difficult for the orchestra, note-wise, and all the changing meters and rhythms. kind of funny at 3:19 - the trumpet player decided to play a one note solo. kudos to Anne for actually hitting every note of that last e-flat minor arpeggio, and the top A.
@cornel999 I admire ANYONE who can play the Barber (so congrats to you), if only because the last movement is so treacherous. I know a number of concertos but I could never play the Barber. Some pieces are like that. I have a friend who is a cellist in the Chicago Symphony and he says there are certain pieces that only prodigies and geniuses can play - maybe the Barber is one of them. Good observation about the Eb minor run - yes, most people kinda just gloss over it and aim for the top A.
Which orchestra is this?! Anne Akiko Meyers is playing really good, but this orchestra is so slow and rough, they slow her down. The timpani is starting in too slow, they're not together (0:40, 2:05, those violins and trumpets are failing), and the bit which starts at 3:12 is the worst.
Such a pity when you're such a good violonist and then the orchestra you play with is failing. :(
But this is still good. And squeatley is right -- the final run is clever, extra spine-chill factor. Hats off to you squeatley and anyone else who can play this without coming off the rails.
impresionante!!! dudo q un robot lo pueda hacer mejor velocidad fuerza textura en los ataques todo una diosa anne akiko myers hermosisimaaaaa version !!!!!!
Anne Akiko Meyers plays it too rough for my taste. I prefer the sweet ol' Hilary Hahn version :D

Hey, they all ended together - that's all that counts lol. But seriously, that was a beast of a performance by Kiko right down to the very last note!

@winrx Yea, I LOVE this interpretation, its much more musical IMO than when its played up to tempo.

The orchestra ABSOLUTELY SUCKS. I think Anne's smile at the end pretty much said, "Well, thank God we made it through!"

Mental piece !
I played this at RNCM and I can confirm that this movement is a tricky bastard.
I like her 'take' on this movement and the way she slightly slows the final run is probably the coolest thing I've heard all year.
