That was a nice kill, and I don't have anything wrong with hunting, but I don't like calls, or any other way of luring animals in, really. Try hunting just by stalking the animal, it doesn't always get you anything, but when you do, it's a lot more satisfying.

@NorStarReviews by the cactus and green field this is prolly around central Texas. The cool thing about Texas is that you can see almost every kind of landscape without leaving the state. But if you want trully beautiful country with good year round climate, you want central, north, or northeast Texas. Just know that northern Texas is at the bottom tip of tornado alley, its not that bad though.
@FlushieJohnson we hunt every year in three rivers texas about an hour outside of san antonio, the drive in makes you think what animal is gonna wanna live in this desert, but its amazing how many turkeys, pigs, javelina, deer, and coyotes are on the ranch. texas is truly an amazing place!

the last coyote I hit kicked after he went down, that time was the only time i have ever put a second shot into an animal. The first round went right through both lungs. For the second I had an oppertunity on a head shot and took it. I'd rather give the animal the respect of a quick death, then to watch it suffer.

And there are others(alligator,lions).In my neck of the woods there are no wolves and haven't been since the 1930s when they were hunted to extinction due to livestock concerns(British crown).The coyote got lucky when it introduced itself to the island of newfoundland because man had gotten rid of the wolves 50 years earlier.Now they have had significant effect on the numbers of the caribou herds,and coyote #s are not as easy to eradicate.
Killing coyotes to control their numbers is counter-productive. Females will respond by having larger litters (up to 8 pups, as opposed to just 1-3 in areas where they aren't hunted). A mom with more mouths to feed is more likely to take risks and encroach on human areas (and livestock) to get enough food for her pups.
Easy to sit back and make judgments. But it is better to have all the info. I`ve had cattle for almost 10 years. Two years ago we added sheep, then 50 chickens. Never a problem. Months ago a small group of coyotes came in killed sheep and chickens. What they did to the sheep was brutal. Now, I had a false sense of security,never had my guard up. I used to judge others that said"You should shoot those coyotes." I dont shoot them, too close to homes. We snare them. Gives them a choice to make.
@seller559 Any particular snare you like to use? bought or made? i recently had to get a dog to protect my previous one but its gonna take a while for it to grow up and coyotes are getting pretty close to the house. I have a 55 lb bow and arrow with broadheads but they are smart and i have no trees to shoot from, easily spotted elsewhere.
@brysonwilliams70 I use a home made snare i found here on youtube. Stuff can be bought at hardware store. But follow the directions, heavy cable with swivel mounted to solid post. Find out where they are coming from. We are fenced so the coyotes use the same entrance, they are very routine. If you have no fence or evidence of entry set them. You can use a dog pen or a chicken coop with one way in. Let them get used to going in and getting out.THEN after they are comfy add the snare to entrance
@seller559 my house is somewhat residental with thousands of acres of military base behind me... i have no farm animals, only 2 dogs. I hunt, so they have been after the remains of the animals... I guess i can bait a boar spear trap or even poison the food and tie it so only coyotes can get it.. although poison seems very very cruel, as i admire coyotes. I just like my dogs a whole lot better!!
@brysonwilliams70 Something I forgot. Some other cattlemen I know will run a hot wire, low to the ground, around the perimeter of there place. Then every 50 feet they hang raw bacon strips on it. The bacon draws them in, the electric wire teaches them that your place is HOT. Trains the coyotes all year that way. It`s hell on your neighbors but takes you off the dinner list.

The same coyote will walk past my chickens and sheep for months but as soon as she has cubs on the ground she is a killer. Your dogs and cats arent safe either. A good coyote population rule is one per square mile...I know I have at least 15. You have to thin your pack to a reasonable number. Good luck.

You don't eat a coyote because they taste horrible, you shoot them to help increase the deer population and other types of small game as they often kill fawns. They overpopulate quite easily and conservation dictates that when one population rises too high you must manage it by removing a number of them.

That is what I want to do. Start calling coyotes in with a caller. I was deer hunting this past weekend with the weather here in MS being 18 degrees. Well, I heard a doe come through the woods and she ran across the pasture. I thought maybe a buck was going to come out to but instead a coyote came into the pasture on her trail and those coyotes are tricky and are so skidish. More than deer but I got him to stop running and shot him with my .308 at about 60 yards out of my shooting house.

distance shooting is not lazy come out to my place i will set some golf balls out to 600 yards and take them out with one shot a piece with my custom savage 22-250 using factory loads and then let you try with the same rifle and set up and laugh till you run out of ammo and never learnt to breath right or count your heart beat and compensate for muzzle rise wind temp or grade angle, theres alot that goes in to in, and the only electronic divice i use is a range finder, thats it
coyote's are predators you dont need a licence there is no season cause its not a game animal most hunters choose not to shoot during the den season so the pups can grow up but any body can shoot em as for AZ i dont know the laws some states acutaly have seasons for them you should check out the wildlife website for AZ.

to me personally i think a 30-30 would be a good gun to use in thick woods if you hunt in thick stuff that would be a perfect gun to use. that why u see all hunters using the bigger calliber rifles because most of them hunt in open fields
What is a good coyote gun. I have a Marlin 30-30 that is 2 inches high at 100...i see all these videos and alot of them are using 270's which are a ball hair smaller than a 30-06. I have seen them using 243's, 22-250, 300, 308....no 30-30...all of them are virtually the same bullet just different velocities

@NorStarReviews by the cactus and green field this is prolly around central Texas. The cool thing about Texas is that you can see almost every kind of landscape without leaving the state. But if you want trully beautiful country with good year round climate, you want central, north, or northeast Texas. Just know that northern Texas is at the bottom tip of tornado alley, its not that bad though.

@FlushieJohnson we hunt every year in three rivers texas about an hour outside of san antonio, the drive in makes you think what animal is gonna wanna live in this desert, but its amazing how many turkeys, pigs, javelina, deer, and coyotes are on the ranch. texas is truly an amazing place!

Good Hunt, Nice quick shot
the last coyote I hit kicked after he went down, that time was the only time i have ever put a second shot into an animal. The first round went right through both lungs. For the second I had an oppertunity on a head shot and took it. I'd rather give the animal the respect of a quick death, then to watch it suffer.
I hunt coyotes because they have no natrual predators, they kill livestock and pets

@callmepyro The coyote's natural predator is the wolf. And there are others(alligator,lions).In my neck of the woods there are no wolves and haven't been since the 1930s when they were hunted to extinction due to livestock concerns(British crown).The coyote got lucky when it introduced itself to the island of newfoundland because man had gotten rid of the wolves 50 years earlier.Now they have had significant effect on the numbers of the caribou herds,and coyote #s are not as easy to eradicate.

Killing coyotes to control their numbers is counter-productive. Females will respond by having larger litters (up to 8 pups, as opposed to just 1-3 in areas where they aren't hunted). A mom with more mouths to feed is more likely to take risks and encroach on human areas (and livestock) to get enough food for her pups.

Easy to sit back and make judgments. But it is better to have all the info. I`ve had cattle for almost 10 years. Two years ago we added sheep, then 50 chickens. Never a problem. Months ago a small group of coyotes came in killed sheep and chickens. What they did to the sheep was brutal. Now, I had a false sense of security,never had my guard up. I used to judge others that said"You should shoot those coyotes." I dont shoot them, too close to homes. We snare them. Gives them a choice to make.

@seller559 Any particular snare you like to use? bought or made? i recently had to get a dog to protect my previous one but its gonna take a while for it to grow up and coyotes are getting pretty close to the house. I have a 55 lb bow and arrow with broadheads but they are smart and i have no trees to shoot from, easily spotted elsewhere.

@brysonwilliams70 I use a home made snare i found here on youtube. Stuff can be bought at hardware store. But follow the directions, heavy cable with swivel mounted to solid post. Find out where they are coming from. We are fenced so the coyotes use the same entrance, they are very routine. If you have no fence or evidence of entry set them. You can use a dog pen or a chicken coop with one way in. Let them get used to going in and getting out.THEN after they are comfy add the snare to entrance

@seller559 my house is somewhat residental with thousands of acres of military base behind me... i have no farm animals, only 2 dogs. I hunt, so they have been after the remains of the animals... I guess i can bait a boar spear trap or even poison the food and tie it so only coyotes can get it.. although poison seems very very cruel, as i admire coyotes. I just like my dogs a whole lot better!!

@brysonwilliams70 Something I forgot. Some other cattlemen I know will run a hot wire, low to the ground, around the perimeter of there place. Then every 50 feet they hang raw bacon strips on it. The bacon draws them in, the electric wire teaches them that your place is HOT. Trains the coyotes all year that way. It`s hell on your neighbors but takes you off the dinner list.

@brysonwilliams70 One more thing, I am an animal lover. I dont like killing anything but you gotta do what you gotta do. I have to take care of mine. You can show no mercy with coyotes. The same coyote will walk past my chickens and sheep for months but as soon as she has cubs on the ground she is a killer. Your dogs and cats arent safe either. A good coyote population rule is one per square mile...I know I have at least 15. You have to thin your pack to a reasonable number. Good luck.

@restless1999 Dude, sorry, but these things are not food. You don't eat a coyote because they taste horrible, you shoot them to help increase the deer population and other types of small game as they often kill fawns. They overpopulate quite easily and conservation dictates that when one population rises too high you must manage it by removing a number of them.

when I was a kid I remember getting into a call with one. It was actually getting closer and closer and closer, when it was like probbly 20 feet away from me--it was pitch black couldnt see it, but it was getting louder n louder, I heard the leaves snap so I got scared and bolted inside (i was lik 14 but I remember vividly)

That is what I want to do. Start calling coyotes in with a caller. I was deer hunting this past weekend with the weather here in MS being 18 degrees. Well, I heard a doe come through the woods and she ran across the pasture. I thought maybe a buck was going to come out to but instead a coyote came into the pasture on her trail and those coyotes are tricky and are so skidish. More than deer but I got him to stop running and shot him with my .308 at about 60 yards out of my shooting house.

distance shooting is not lazy come out to my place i will set some golf balls out to 600 yards and take them out with one shot a piece with my custom savage 22-250 using factory loads and then let you try with the same rifle and set up and laugh till you run out of ammo and never learnt to breath right or count your heart beat and compensate for muzzle rise wind temp or grade angle, theres alot that goes in to in, and the only electronic divice i use is a range finder, thats it

coyote's are predators you dont need a licence there is no season cause its not a game animal most hunters choose not to shoot during the den season so the pups can grow up but any body can shoot em as for AZ i dont know the laws some states acutaly have seasons for them you should check out the wildlife website for AZ.

oh my god!!! I'am so sick of these mother fuckers looking up videos to bitch about. they eat farmers chickens and sometimes kill deer and cattle. and these animals drive me insane. ; )

i like using smaller caliber bullets. 25-06 or .223 just so the pelt is ok, but if i don't feel like skinning them, i use .308 or 7mag.

22-250 supermag is the best for small animals like coyotes.

to me personally i think a 30-30 would be a good gun to use in thick woods if you hunt in thick stuff that would be a perfect gun to use. that why u see all hunters using the bigger calliber rifles because most of them hunt in open fields

What is a good coyote gun. I have a Marlin 30-30 that is 2 inches high at 100...i see all these videos and alot of them are using 270's which are a ball hair smaller than a 30-06. I have seen them using 243's, 22-250, 300, 308....no 30-30...all of them are virtually the same bullet just different velocities
