The .408 Chey-Tac Intervention also has a good 600 yard advantage in maximum range on the .50 Barrett M-series. (roughly 2,400 yards compared to about 1,800 yards). So the truth is, the .408 round was actually designed SPECIFICALLY for the purpose of retaining a high amount of energy. Try not to rely too heavily on Wikipedia for information.

umm no tippmann is the most reliable gun on the market.. speedballl guns don't go as far and aren't as accurate.. they just throw more paint out there.. tippmanns are gas hogs but they are more reliable and more trustworthy..buy a tippmann and u will be happy with it for years and years to come!!!
actually thats completely wrong, distance and accuracy have nothing to do with the gun itself, the only thing that will increase distance is a flatline barrel and the barrel on a gun itself is what gives it accuracy, but yeah they probably are more reliable because they dont need to be cleaned as often or in many cases at all
I wouldn't ever dream of playing in the woods with a speedball gun. They aren't really more reliable, and you can make a woodsball gun shoot fast as well. not as fast as a speedball gun, but we don't want everything in our markers to be electric in case dirt or something gets in there which is far more likely to happen playing in a situation like that. And shooting ropes is less practical in the woods due to brush and low branches, you'll just waste all your paint.

Correct. I didn't specify, my bad. The M2 IS allowed by NATO, but for some reason it's not allowed to be fired onto people. Basically, it's considered a suppressive weapon. You shoot a building, people run. You shoot at a car, it stops. So .50 cal sniper rifles are allowed, and .50 cal machine guns are allowed, but .50 cal machines guns are NOT allowed to fire on people.
Ok so a Humvee is driving down a street and a guy pops out with an AK and starts firing, the soldier manning the .50 cal on top can't shoot at him? Maybe that's what the regulations states but dude come on...
If a situation like that happened, (which it did to my platoon in-country,) then yes the .50 would open up and cut the guy in half. It's not allowed, but we'd do it anyway. I'd rather be court-martialed than watch one of my boys die because of the laws of war.

@cobraopts7 sorry, its held by an american. the Intervention holds the record for the longest shot ever made accurately. the range was around 2 miles. technology really helped this rifle out big time. it is simply the best sniper rifle made to date. shoots the furthest, hits the hardest, is the most versatile/customizable, and has the most application. use it to take out tanks if you want, or just make some poor guy's head explode, the possibilities are almost endless with the Intervention.

@HDFoxra NO, you are fucking WRONG my friend. He is a Canadian. However, his record was exceeded by a mere 45 metres by Corporal Craig Harrison of the U.K. army NOT an American. And who the HELL do you get your information from? the intervention CANNOT destroy ANY kind of tank. And neither Furlong or Harrison used the intervention. Harrison used the L115A1 and Furlong used our C14 Timberwolf Rifle. it's basically an M40A3. RESEARCH before you spew half baked bullshit.

@SuperBaba21 the intervention can take out a tank. just use the proper round. just like how the .50cal was used to take out light armored tanks with a heavy explosive round. the intervention is designed to work with any type of round imaginable. and idk if you are meaning longest shot period, or longest kill. idk who made the longest KILL, nor the name of the person who used the intervention to gain the longest SHOT. but the intervention holds the shot at almost 2 miles.

umm no tippmann is the most reliable gun on the market.. speedballl guns don't go as far and aren't as accurate.. they just throw more paint out there.. tippmanns are gas hogs but they are more reliable and more trustworthy..buy a tippmann and u will be happy with it for years and years to come!!!

actually thats completely wrong, distance and accuracy have nothing to do with the gun itself, the only thing that will increase distance is a flatline barrel and the barrel on a gun itself is what gives it accuracy, but yeah they probably are more reliable because they dont need to be cleaned as often or in many cases at all

I wouldn't ever dream of playing in the woods with a speedball gun. They aren't really more reliable, and you can make a woodsball gun shoot fast as well. not as fast as a speedball gun, but we don't want everything in our markers to be electric in case dirt or something gets in there which is far more likely to happen playing in a situation like that. And shooting ropes is less practical in the woods due to brush and low branches, you'll just waste all your paint.

Double fail. He shot next to the guy and i saw where the paintball hit and the other fail is for the guy who was sitting on the stairs almost looking at him but didn't notice a guy in a window that was 20 feet away from him with the biggest paintball gun i have ever seen. Plus why would a sniper use a Barret M82 to shoot a guy 2 feet away from him. They are only used for ordnance disposal from ranges over a mile.

Only used for ordnance disposal?? lol i don't know where you got that info from but it's wrong, SOF snipers use them all the time in Iraq and Afghanistan. In fact a Canadian sniper has the record for the longest shot and kill using a Tac-50(same rounds as an M82)

Anyway, the Barrett .50 cal is NOT against the cruel and unusual punishment clause in the geneva convention. The BROWNING M2 heavy machine gun IS against the rules, because it's considered 'gross overkill.' Same reason we can't use flame-throwers anymore, after Korea. Correct. I didn't specify, my bad. The M2 IS allowed by NATO, but for some reason it's not allowed to be fired onto people. Basically, it's considered a suppressive weapon. You shoot a building, people run. You shoot at a car, it stops. So .50 cal sniper rifles are allowed, and .50 cal machine guns are allowed, but .50 cal machines guns are NOT allowed to fire on people.

If a situation like that happened, (which it did to my platoon in-country,) then yes the .50 would open up and cut the guy in half. It's not allowed, but we'd do it anyway. I'd rather be court-martialed than watch one of my boys die because of the laws of war.
