  • That Van Allen belts it out, don't he? (I'd apologize for that "space junk" of a gag, but it's no worse than the visual pun on the record label!) -- 1b2s

Anyhow, now I can download this and your other vid w/the B-side and sell off my brother's old 45! Thanks!

  • its heartbreaker

  • Wow Flamingo ish lol

  • What a beautiful ballard. And Van McCoy does it justice. Just beautiful

  • You have an amazing collection. Thanks for sharing. Are you in Philly?

  • @ksmusic23 - I'm about an hour from Philly in central NJ. I'm closer to NYC

  • Didn't know that Van MCcoy did Doo-Wop in his early days. Was he singing lead on this one?

  • Always loved this song!!

  • Wow this is a very nice one, that I never heard. It's smooth, slow, relaxing. Very chill. Thanks for sharing. :)

  • Thanks PJ

  • also looking for Starlighters Slipping Out

  • never knew that this record was so rare. thank you for the post,PJ.tom d brick,nj.

  • Van McCoy was also in the 4 Buddies on Phillips, Lonely Summer with his brother.

  • Wow! PJ.... Van McCoy did Doo Wop? Who'd a thunk it? Great!!! Thanks for all this good stuff!

  • Van McCoy did lots of doo wop.. I've got another Starlighters track going up tonight actually :)

  • Awesome!!!!!!!

  • We have to thank Van McCoy most respectfully for lots of sweet oldies both hits and rare, but Mr. Dj .....the "young" soulful ballad, sound, and plea will never get old

  • The other side is a rocker-"you're the one to blame". This was probably the a side. Someone should upload this.

  • thanx 4 playn the goods

  • I'm looking for "Starlighters - Slipping Out" can anyone help me. Thanks in advance .......Marty D. aka fordoowopmarty.

  • Nice, very nice. Rare, but nice. I also love the comments from the others. Thanks ioxxd90 for sharing.

  • NICE!!

  • If you are interested in Van McCoy's Doo Wop legacy, Ccheck out his recording with the Four Buddies called I Want To Be The Boy You Love. I am trying to locate the song "I Cried" by Rhode Island's Castoleers. Can anyone help?

  • I Want To Be The Boy You Love is one of the most beautiful ballads I've ever head. I have a copy, but it's got a big scratch that causes a loud tick. If it weren't for that I would have posted it.

Maybe you're thinking of That's Why I Cry by The Castaleers? Great record! I just posted my favorite Castaleers song yesterday, I'll Be Around

  • Yes! Yes! Yes! Indeed! The song I am iso is indeed the Castoleers, "That's Why I cried." Thanks.

  • Remember Van McCoy for "The Hustle"! This is kool, everything on End is generally really good, one of my favorite labels!

  • End is a great label. Lots of talent was put out by End, and there are lots of cool rareties. The Starlighters did two other killer 45s, It's 12 O'Clock and A Story Of Love (their best and rarest)

  • Van McCoy went to Rooservelt High School in Washington DC. My neighbor sang with this group actually, but I don't know if he ws on this particular record. He passed away the same day as Michael Jackson.

  • Interesting.. I always thought there were a Philly group. Is the whole group from Washington or is it just Van that grew up there?

  • I believe he moved to Philly at one point in his life. Let me get my facts together, but this I know, they did come out of Rooservelt High School. So did The Jewels.

  • Thank you. Unfortunately, information about this group is hard to come across.

  • When I see my neighbor (her brother used to sing with them) I'll ask her. ;-)

  • whooooooa,,,,,

  • Yeah, exactly. Great stuff here

  • Man this is terrific! Wow ... and then it gets even better as the song goes on. It totally blows me away! My Goodness ... thanks PJ!

  • This is one of 3 Starlighters releases on End. They're all rare and they're all great. That's Van McCoy on lead

  • damn!(lol) when i look your videos,i cant so to sleep=) i love all your music=)

  • Sorry for keeping you up, lol. I'm glad you're enjoying the music

  • another great song :)

  • This is a beauty

  • this is a big fave in pittsburgh! still can hear this one on late night radio. great record.

  • It amazes me how many rare records are big in Pittsburg. If you look at The Pittsburgh's Greatest Hits series released on Itzy they have some extremely rare records included.

  • Never heard this before and I'm from Philly! Nice song.

  • It's a rare one. The Starlighters released 3 great 45s on End and all are very rare. It's Twelve O'Clock and A Story Of Love are my favorites and have eluded me for at least 10 years. The flip side of this is great too.. I'll post it

  • Records by mail has 12 oclock on Halo and

collectables if you want a repro

  • Indeed this is a wonderfull song.

    Thanks

  • Thank you

  • great sound..
