That Van Allen belts it out, don't he? (I'd apologize for that "space junk" of a gag, but it's no worse than the visual pun on the record label!) -- 1b2s
Anyhow, now I can download this and your other vid w/the B-side and sell off my brother's old 45! Thanks!
We have to thank Van McCoy most respectfully for lots of sweet oldies both hits and rare, but Mr. Dj .....the "young" soulful ballad, sound, and plea will never get old
If you are interested in Van McCoy's Doo Wop legacy, Ccheck out his recording with the Four Buddies called I Want To Be The Boy You Love. I am trying to locate the song "I Cried" by Rhode Island's Castoleers. Can anyone help?
I Want To Be The Boy You Love is one of the most beautiful ballads I've ever head. I have a copy, but it's got a big scratch that causes a loud tick. If it weren't for that I would have posted it.
Maybe you're thinking of That's Why I Cry by The Castaleers? Great record! I just posted my favorite Castaleers song yesterday, I'll Be Around
End is a great label. Lots of talent was put out by End, and there are lots of cool rareties. The Starlighters did two other killer 45s, It's 12 O'Clock and A Story Of Love (their best and rarest)
Van McCoy went to Rooservelt High School in Washington DC. My neighbor sang with this group actually, but I don't know if he ws on this particular record. He passed away the same day as Michael Jackson.
I believe he moved to Philly at one point in his life. Let me get my facts together, but this I know, they did come out of Rooservelt High School. So did The Jewels.
It amazes me how many rare records are big in Pittsburg. If you look at The Pittsburgh's Greatest Hits series released on Itzy they have some extremely rare records included.
It's a rare one. The Starlighters released 3 great 45s on End and all are very rare. It's Twelve O'Clock and A Story Of Love are my favorites and have eluded me for at least 10 years. The flip side of this is great too.. I'll post it

Interesting.. I always thought there were a Philly group. Is the whole group from Washington or is it just Van that grew up there?
