It might surprise you how difficult it can be to adopt internationally, because of recent changes in international law and governmental policies. I looked into this option but for a number of reasons decided it would be out of reach for me.
If you care to learn more about how it actually works, the State Department's website is a good place to start.
I thought since celebrities can do it, why not normal people? Babies from 3rd world countries are dying from malnutrition, non-sanitry living conditions etc.. I think that law is kid of stupid, if a better life is offered to a child, why are they refusing it for them?
Well, many normal people can do it, but it's a whole lot more complicated! For some of us a U.S. adoption makes more sense.
As for the laws, yes, some are stupid and have to do with the politics of foreign governments. But some are actually really important to keep people from stealing children or exploiting them, which happens more than you might think. And if children still have families, it's usually better to support them rather than take kids away from their homes. It's pretty complex.
