  • Really beautiful! Is this the cactus that is sometimes used as a stock? I have one which was thrown into the garden and survived in a crack for several years. Now I've put it into a pot and I'm growing/propagating it again. I'd be stoked if it's capable of making a flower like that.

  • It's dragon fruit cacti

  • Nice dragon fruit flower!

  • La mayoría de las flores de las Càctacea son comestibles y bien en sus efectos tienen como afrodisíacas, son una alternativa de ensalada. Sus valores alimenticios no tiene precedentes. Excelente vídeo : JFMP- OK.

  • This is a Hylocereus undatus, the most common of the various climbing night-blooming cereus plants. Its fruits are called dragon fruit when they're sold commercially.

  • i want this

  • i love cactuses !

  • Judging by the stems it looks like a Hylocereus

  • There is no doubt that you got a proper video camera, go to my cacti flowers entry and here in Perth W. Australia I've got 6 or seven flowers many times a year! If under a shade lasts a couple of days! Sorry my video is from a normal Sony digital camera so picture is not as clear! I made a Power Point with still pics I don't know how to put it in youtube!

  • Very nice! I have a few of these epiphytic cacti too. They aren't much to look at until they bloom and then WOW. Some of them have a lovely scent as well.

One thing I have found is if you withhold water toward the end of the summer, they often will set blooms.

  • beutiful echinocactus... nicely done. Congratulations

  • Thank goodness you were able to capture the bloom.

  • I think it is Hylocereus undatus

  • what species of plant is that? i have epiphyllum oxypetalum. the blossom on my looked really similar but the the leaves on mine are flat not thick like yours.

  • wow nice. epiphylium?? i liked your planted aquarium as well. i used to get my tank plants growing well. i was thinking of injecting CO2 next time i have a tank. is your CO2 system expensive???

  • No it is DIY using just a 2 litre juice bottle, yeast, sugar mixed with water and a air hose attached to a powerhead.

  • that sounds good the CO2 syaytem i looked at was expensive. i will be trying that next time i set up a tank

  • absolutely gorgeous!!! Bravo patient one.

  • Wow!!! What a beautiful flower! Bloomed once in 6 years and only lasted an hour... nature never ceases to amaze me..
