there seems to be a thousand people who sing this song. who's the original artist??? it seems like very Sarah Vaughan song i've llistened to was sung by Sinatra, and others as well.
Many songs that are now considered "Jazz standards" were from the movies. "September In The Rain" was first heard and played by tenor saxophist, James Melton in the 1937 film "Melody For Two". Though it's my understanding the song appeared in an ealier film but it was cut/edited out. Who first sung this song with the lyrics is a great question. :)
I don't think artists record like this...their voices are enhanced 2 sound this clear...this is why jazz singers such as Sarah will always be my favorites 4 their perfect live performances
@TheCmelmoneyman but remember what you said man..you said (...) jazz singer (...). that explains or maybe excuse me, thinking of something comon you meant.. Come on you know it i'm right..you didn t say it's Billie Holliday ...
Thank you for posting this. There's other recordings of Ms. Vaughn singing "September in the Rain" on YouTube, but this is the best. Someone posted it a year ago but it was removed, and I've been craving it!
OMG I FLEW BACK IN MY CHAIR at 2:18 !!! I love Sarah Vaughan. What a master teacher.

Very few artists these days can use their first recording for the album... Amy Winehouse often did, but she's gone now :(

I think I like this version more than Dinah Washington's. I just like Sarah's voice more.

Magnífica interpretación de Sassy, pero creo que esta canción es de Dinah. Dinah rules here :) despite the wonderful Sara...
