  • Ok people, probably gonna have people screaming at me about how it don't matter but all I say is this, I have been into computing since ZX Spectrums and if there is one piece of advice I can give you all it is DO NOT TOUCH THE CONTACTS WITH BARE HANDS!!! I had a friend that would hit my hand with a metal ruler every time I went to do this, it worked, I don't do it no more lol I have been in computer specialist shops and seen workers picking up strips of Ram by the contacts....fools!

  • do you have to put new thermal paste if you're doing this? or can you just clean it and put it back together?

  • @vazsas You should replace it because being over 100ºC constantly, most likely degrades the thermal paste after a while, imo.

  • you´re very bad cleaner!! you put too paste, very crazy!! and you don´t know use a screwdriver, hahahaha

  • Considering how cheap this model is now it's probably easier to just replace it if you've had it as long as I have (3-4 years+). I was wondering if I could repeat what I was seeing here til I saw the part about the hidden screws, replacing the paste, and how badly dust can build up where no air can or tweezers can reach.

  • Thanks for putting up the video. Once all the screws are removed, how hard should I have to pull for the heat sink to come off? It seems really stuck on mine and I'm worried about damaging something.

  • @bblouie It might be a bit hard especially if it is the first time you are doing it. But it's not like you have to rip it off. Make sure you have all the screws off and that you are pulling off the right part. Pull one side, then the other and check if it is having any effect.

  • Its been two years scene i 1st got my duel 4750s on crossfire and im cleaning them in 5 days. ill let you know how it goes.. As of now i run idle non crossfire on GPU0: Core temp is 80-84c and GPU1: same Crossfire on adds 10-15c more.. average in at 120-134c on hard gaming.. Fingers crossed !

  • @thomask1234567890 Yup i didnt wanna wait i cleaned them today and GPU0 is idle at 50-60c and GPU1 is same they are on crossfire still so GPU1 should go down 10-15c. Gaming witcher 2 on high/ultra Gfx on crossfire im at 70-85c :) thanks for the video! only i think i blew up a few ram chips on my 1st Card my ( Core temp/ memory is idle still at 80-99c+ :/ any ideas ? GPU1 is perfect so im thinking my main card blew up a ram chip or two :/ prob playing FF14 Online max settings :/ game sucked!

  • Funny because my HD4850 had less dust builded up inside when it died well now i have an HD5770 :P

  • @basbas63 Most the time when AMD cards die without dust problems its bc the stock fan speed isn't enough. did you up your fan speed ?

  • @thomask1234567890 uhm yes when gaming i manualy ajusted it to 90% or else it would get way to hot XD

  • @basbas63 :)

  • thanks for this video! it saved my marriage!

  • I really appriciate the video. My HD4850 was 90 degrees when idle, when playing dragon age it became 116 degrees so always reset the computer. Now I cleaned and it never goes up to 90 degrees.

Actually I was able to remove all screws but could't seperate shield and the card. After watching this it was so easy and fast :)

    Thanks again.

  • thank you brother for helping my card was in idle 70° now it's 52°

i find too match dust in lol after 2 years

  • tnx man,you saved me.i wasn't sure how to dismount it,now i know :-) tnx, you're a saviour.

  • @Amarant75 You welcome ^^ The name of the songs are Blue Man Group - PVC IV and Blue Man Group - Boston
