Star Blazers: The Quest for Iscandar (1979) was adapted from Space Battleship Yamato (1974). Star Blazers: Comet Empire (1980) was adapted from Space Battleship Yamato 2 (1978). Star Blazers: The Bolar Wars (1985) was adapted from Space Battleship Yamato 3 (1980).

This series I believe the translators for Starblazers stayed closer to the actual translations for the first half and only editid out people dying directly on screen. After about episode 18...whooo boy!

stf the design from the 2. world war battleships match with every single inch that of space battleships that earth could build today. besides my personal gues is that the bouth world powers already got plans for it (the 2 most powerfull technologie lands on earth are Japan(they got android's already and theyre working) and america (germany is just place 3 because we dont have the money to research such technologie first hand)

FYI - Yamato carries a very significant meaning for most Japanese people. Actually, Yamato is the term Japanese people use for their own ethinic identity (= Yamato people).

imo yamato 2 (star blazers, comet empire) was the best of the 3 seasons. besides the obvious comet empire threatning earth, you have the plotting of invida against both desslok and zordar, and desslocks "captain ahab" quest to destroy yamato/star force. plus the in fighting between knox and wildstar that leads to mutual respect (and knox ulitimate sacrafice)

watched starblazer religiously as a kid growing up in the early 80's and I just recently ordered the Japanese version. I can't wait to see all of the cool shit that was censored out of the American version. Finally I will see it the way it was meant to be seen!
