Nicad Batteries is the reason for the cheap price. Companies are doing everything possible to ditch the Nicad stuff. At this point I never buy anything unless it has Lithium Ion batteries. Proper charging and dis-charging of those batteries though and you should get lots of use out of them.
@wranglerstar Thanks! I have there air compressor and nail guns and i like them! Keep doing your thing i really like your vids on your project i love to build stuff too! Remodeled most of my house myself! No one will do a better job then you! Have a great new year!
that's funny that the 2 batteries would cost more than this whole kit. it's like printer ink. it's cheaper to buy a new printer that comes with a new ink cartridge than it is to just buy the new ink by itself. but it sure looks like you got yourself a kick ass kit here. thanks for sharing.
Good vid dude. I would have liked it more if you tried to see how many times you could say the word fuck in the vid. I think you only said shit like once
i rip the parts page out of the manuals and throw the rest away. i use mine til they are dead though, no re-sale. looks like a nice set. better than the stuff Lowes did carry, i think it was called Firehawk, or Firefly, no Firestorm i think it is. they were not that great, a friend had a set of them
i always hit the lowes, home depot and sears around christmas and get all the tools i can when there on that sweet ass christmas price.... Porter Cable NIIICE!
my aunt worked for them for many years till they started downsizeing ,top notch tools.interesting side note years ago i bought federal ammo from her through porter cable they were owen by the same people or something
I have a lithium set by Porter Cable, and even though the batteries are lighter and makes it easier to use, when the battery runs out of power -*SNAP* that's it, no more power. With the Nicad's at least we get a warning and a little more use.
@brokor1 i know what you mean, i havea lithium set of different brand and they do the same. using the flashlight is the worst. i just barly gets slighly dim, then boom, its off
I never owned / used porter cable, so I'll be curious to hear how they work for you
I can tell you thats a great deal, getting the use out of your tools, then selling them for enough cash to replace them and have a little left over, thats sweet !!
I've always wanted, but never owned a cordless saws-all, seems like a fun thing to have !!
$300+ for a cordless hamer ..drill they dont make them as common as they used to. I used to have the 18v bosh kit I still do but the batteries are $90.00 each so I got a new lion 18v bosh for $190.00 with 2 batts. but doesnt have near the tork as Dewalt or even my old bosh. Quality today sucks in the cordless market I think you'll find you realy miss your dewalt...
Ran out of room...lol. About the Porter Cable power tools........On "How It's Made" on I think it was the learning channel or Discovery, they featured Porter Cables factory. Their tools are built like tanks and should out live many of the other makers tools. Personally, If I were to purchase a combo kit like the one Santa got you, it would be Paslode first, Porter Cable second, Dewalt, Rigid and Sears (Crapsman) takes a distant last. I'd say Santa did an awesome job there Bro!
@ZippoVarga Yes i have there Air compressor too and works great! Loved my dewalt but it was cheaper to get a new set then buy new batteries! Thanks buddy!
Iam in the same boat my14.4 volt DeWalt hammer drill is heavy but a good tool! but the batteries have failed and are too expensive to replace. The main problem i have found with cheaper drills is the drill chuck's are not as good as the all steel chuck on my DeWalt !
Porter Cable has been around literally for Decades! I owned a 1960 Porter Cable Riding Mower.....yes, you read that right....the king of Garden tractors here has had just about every brand come through my shop at one time or another. What was really cool about the old Porter Cable was that it had what LOOKED like a Hurst Double throw shifter that was your deck engagement lever and forward and reverse lever. Really a sweet machine. Porter Cable is a good contender in the construction industry.
LOL yeah and how usefull is a battery operated hammer drill anyway? I mean yeah it's got some good uses but they aren't common enough from what I've seen to warrant the extra money.
I'm diggin the new Lithium Ion cordless tools DeWalt has on the market.
I really hate how much new batteries are for power tools! It's crazy how it's often more cost effective to buy new and upgrade than buy new batteries. Add $40 to the cost of two DeWalt batteries and you've got a Lithium Ion drill new!
The early contractor grade Porter Cable tools were excellent. I still have the first one I bought almost 20 years ago. You will have to let us know how these do. I think now Makita makes the best cordless tool but they are expensive.
In 2005, the Pentair Tools Group—comprising Porter-Cable, Delta Machinery, DeVilbiss Air Power, and others—was purchased by Black & Decker, now Stanley Black & Decker.

Good choice. When they change their battery tech, they don't change the shape of the bat. Can use the same tools with new batteries for a long time.
