  • One of my personal favorite guitar solos .... So manly yet, I want to shed a tear ;(

  • -.-

  • A Selkie is a Scottish mythical creature that is a seal in the water, but assumes human form on land.. Awesome

  • 3:50 - 7:26 gives me goosebumps every single time

  • Can't wait to see them in a couple of days :D

  • best fuckin ending ever that last riff is sick

  • If only I could get my boyfriend to listen to stuff like this, scale the summit, the contortionist and painted in exile instead of a7x, the devil wears prada and a day to remember, my boyfriends got some crappy taste in music.

  • @samisgay09 Agreed, those bands you mentioned are some of the more unique and unmentioned band that we have currently, but don't hate on TDWP or ADTR. They are both VERY good bands due to not only their originality, but their voice ranges, heartfelt lyrics and rhythms which set them apart from many other bands today.

  • stop arguing about bullshit hardcore faggotry on one of the greatest songs of all time. thanks.

  • THEY ARE COMING BACK TO CHARLOTTE ON OCTOBER 27TH!!!! I'M SOOOOO EXCITED!!!!!

  • Dat 5:20

  • Fucking a i miss watching them live, used to play at Ziggys alot!!!

  • @TheDecline03 Ziggy's used to be the shit! It's cool that they rebuilt it but it's just not the same anymore...

  • @SomethingWild9608 wait, are you from NC? i live down the street from ziggys! and the club is REALLY nice its just jay doesnt ever have anyone good anymore. like its just pure shit! go ontot he website and look at the calendar!

  • @ACDCwarmachine Yeah the local indie scene isn't what it used to be sadly. BTBAM, Glass Casket, The Demonstration, killwhitneydead, Wretched etc. I miss those days lol

  • @SomethingWild9608 well yeah its all teens in hardcore bands like xhonorx and stuff (i like hardcore music, just not my fave scene, but its whats going on here) and like besides the music scene changing, ziggys just doesnt book ANY good shows AT ALL. greene street and amos southend and the orange peel are the only places left worth anything and from what ive seen, greene street has some sick shows, its just a small venue kinda. i just saw periphery september 3rd or so.

  • @ACDCwarmachine You should check out Volume 11 Tavern down in Raleigh, definitely my favorite venue and probably the smallest. I've been to Amos' (just saw Opeth there recently) and Greene Street but I've yet to attend a show at the Orange Peel (18+ rule sucks).

  • @SomethingWild9608 im only 16 hahah and yeah! my friend will went to see opeth like last week..? or maybe the week before. ive seen animals as leaders, tesseract, protest the hero, textures, the human abstract, and all those bands like that at greene street and at the old ziggys. and i saw btbam at the orange peel like 2 years ago on halloween? i got in when i was like 14

  • cant stand the screaming... i think the only metal i can listen to is three days grace and papa roach..

  • @crankycactus hahaha three days grace and papa roach are not metal...theyre just shit

  • @jmq428 nuh uh dogg... papa roach and three days grace are the godfathers of bouble bass, exotic sweeping arpeggios, obscure time signatures, and no chorus... where have you been??

  • Comment removed

  • @Smythe705 does that make me a pussy? like a cat??? they are metal.... their the best metal ever

  • @crankycactus Their not metal bands, check out dying fetus, cannibal corpse, aborted, all shall perish, decapitated, behemoth, thats metal.

  • Comment removed

  • @brian2786 what are you on about, did you even read this argument, im not even talking about this video.

  • @Smythe705 lol. you, sir, have a somewhat distorted perception of metal.

  • @bobandroger lol and that comes from someone who listens to Trivium

    you fail

this is Progressive Metalcore a sub genre of Hardcore

  • @bobandroger What, do you consider 3day grace and papa roach to be metal, because thats what I was talking about.

  • @Smythe705 they are metal i promise... for real just believe me... im serious... please just believe me..come on im beggin ya... please tell all of your friends...im serious... they were the pioneers of drop c tuning, two handed tapping, major seventh apreggios, genre delving, and djent... i promise... you just gotta believe me

  • @crankycactus two hand tapping was made famous by Eddie Van Halen, and I'm pretty sure people were tapping before him. Stop trolling.

  • @BTBAMRulz nuh uh.. be the batman a midnight rulz... papa roach is my favorite guitarist for a reason..

  • @Smythe705 thats right metal fucking blows

  • @crankycactus 3 days grace & papa roach...huh...u remind me of ma sister.

  • @crankycactus LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Djobohobo thank u finally someone gets me

  • Listening to Between the Buried and Me is like going through a hurricane, it starts off astoundingly brutal, and you can feel the wrath of the one and only GOD on mere mortals, and just when you think your head is going to implode with the intensity of their sound you hit the eye of the hurricane causing you to ejaculate in your pants. For a second its pure paradise! And back into the intense driving song. But its 100% worth it

  • @kurdtkobainrocks Well, if we're gonna go with the same metaphor, I like having my head ripped off by a hurricane.

  • so survive the crash could use some work they kinda suck...

  • this solo always brings tears to my eyes

  • The fucking solo...... OMFG.

  • From 3:31 to the end = Masterpiece

From 5:20 to the end = Sheer Epic Virtuosity

  • The opening closely resembles King Crimson's "Three of a Perfect Pair". I like their music but the singing is so very unoriginal.

  • @gevansmd they actually did a cover of three of a perfect pair.

  • after only 33seconds i had the broadest grin on my face :D

  • 5:21 ;D

  • 5:21 ;D

  • These guys are one of the greatest metal song writers of all time.

  • who cares if they're metalcore or death metal or anywhere in between? This band is really talented, and thats all that matters

  • Lol,they are metalcore

  • @666GOLDEN666 I lol'd ... metalcore ? BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • @666GOLDEN666 lol. they are proggressive deathcore

  • @666GOLDEN666 They said themselves that they really just consider themselves progressive metal. And that's really what they are. You can't really confine them to any genre niche if you get right down to it.

  • This song was good, except for the good portion when they were trying to be "metal"... They should just be a prog-rock band. Then they'd be great! Talented musicians, but they fell into the pitfall of trying to be HxC.

  • @SlashRose i actually like the mix

though some of their songs really go too far into hardcore territory

but selkies couldn't be any better imho

  • @SlashRose i love every second of this song

  • @SlashRose That's what kind of band this is.... stepping back and forth between progressive and metal. That's why it's called progressive death metal... BUT everyone is entitled to their opinion.

  • @SlashRose sorry to tell you, but they are metal.

  • I remember discovering this and Periphery at the same time, with Racecar precisely, I think I will have an endless obsession with those songs !

  • This song has to be their magnum opus. Mind-blowing.

  • Satch Petrucci Wagoner for G3 2012

  • the solo chord n melody changes are fuckin amazing n the mode change at 5:40 W T F!!!

  • Their best song for sure. So amazing

  • badass btbam

  • Idk if they will ever write a better song than this :D <3

  • @blink2gethr4evr i dunno man, lunar wilderness and disease, injury, madness, all kinda rival this one in my eyes, but all amazing works

  • The greatest song ever made.

  • Progressive Metal is the best.....Between the Buried and Me...Opeth...Dream Theater..

  • @TheEmpireofEagles nailed it

  • such an awesome song although i feel that the tone of the guitars sounds very very processed and digital..

  • @ieatcrete111 its because there is a keyboard playing along

  • @ieatcrete111 And if you listen live, they sound exactly the same. Better actually.

  • @ieatcrete111 if you mean the intro its cuz tommy's playing the keys with it :)

  • @blink2gethr4evr nahh i think it sorta sounds that way the whole way through. i wanna cover this and try to get a more organic sound. this song is soo well written though

  • @ieatcrete111 dude if you cover ths GIVE M E A LINK!!!!!!!!!

  • Repping Charlotte, NC! Hellllllll yea too bad we still have the Panthers and Bobcats :/

  • These sure are some beefy tones coming from a bunch of vegan guys

  • Aaaaahhh love

  • BTBAM is my favorite band, and if you like them you guys should seriously listen to Iron Thrones, they are very similar to btbam. listen to their song Like a Moth to Flame. You won't regret it.

  • My itunes says the genre of this song and album is "Progressive Mathcore" Doesn't get any better and cooler then that! :D

  • Sounds a bit like Opeth. maybe, maybe not , just saying

  • @janiceimo This isn't an aucoustic song with Swedish lyrics at all.

  • @Mrcrazy80 Just the voice part, your right :P

  • @janiceimo Yeah, no disrespect, but I've checked out Opeth, and the majority of their songs are constant aucoustic, gentle songs, with a lot of Swedish lyrics (know that, since I'm Swedish). Don't really see the epic progressive metal-ness in it.

  • @Mrcrazy80 Yeah i get that all and i totaly agree, but i mean just the voice and that's pretty much it

  • @Mrcrazy80 What? Ghost of Perdition is constant gentle? Godhead's Lament? And basically all of Still Life for that matter? My Arms, Your Hearse is basically nothing but heavy songs. Opeth has ONE album with all gentle songs, and that's Damnation and it's a great album.

Opeth's music is bare bones progressive metal.. and if you can't hear that, you're probably deaf.

BTBAM rocks, though... on topic. This is one of my favorite songs next to Mordecai.

  • @emphaticleech Ok. Fine, whatever you say about Opeth. I TOTALLY agree with you about this and Mordecai though. Best songs ever made. INHUMANLY good melodies.

  • @Mrcrazy80 Okay fine, whatever. Thanks for admitting you are ignorant of the subject and haven't listened to Opeth outside of a couple songs. :)

  • @Mrcrazy80

They have one recorded swedish song, and that's a cover. I didn't know English = Swedish, and I am a Swede.

  • @cliffanlover Ok, might have ovedone that Swedish-lyrics-part. Although, most of their songs still are jazzy aucoustic songs. Not for me.

  • @janiceimo No you're right, at parts it definitely does sound like Opeth. Which honestly, ain't a bad thing haha.

  • @Jimhupponeword Yeah just in some parts, just a bit

  • @janiceimo kinda, kinda not. I see how you'd say that.

  • @slanderoushalo glad you understand lol :) :P

  • New Between the Faith and Me song released! /watch?v=DQrrGZ0wi2c

  • As a huge fan of typically classic rock only, its great to see a song that's out of my genre and is a truly great piece. i can listen up to all most two minutes then the screaming kicks in and i have to skip a minute and a half of it. my question to this singer is. if your that talented at singing, why do you need to scream. for me personally it ruined this great tune. but wow, what a spectacular guitarists. sweeping is garbage at the ordinary level, but that is how it suppose to be done people.

  • @nigstolebike Well first of all this band is in the metal genre, so its not too much of a surprise to hear screaming in it. And also, the way I view screaming in music, is that it expresses something that can only be showed in that way (lyrically wise). If one line is screamed instead of sung, it kind of has a different meaning. Also, Its also just a personal taste in music people have.

I'm not the singer but that's how I see it.

  • @nigstolebike Oh and ignore that extra also haha.

  • @nigstolebike Its all about preference. no need to talk down on screaming. Screaming GOOD takes a ton of practice. Without much said if it's not your cup of tea just skip to your favorite part. By the way those sweeps are very advanced as compared to other guitarist.

  • @eddieboy1234 you dam sure got that right. i been playing guitar for 7 years now, i have literally no practice at sweeping and this will be my first solo sweeping ever. but good fucking lord it is difficult. but this guitarist is SO GOD DAMN TALENTED. it sounds truely amazing. its just the screaming man, i fully agree with you about the preference thing. its not my thing for screaming, but none the less a true work of art this song is.

  • @nigstolebike Listen to songs like the "The Sun of Nothing" and "Swim to the Moon". If you keep listening to it you will notice how the heavy and soft parts of the songs actually complement each other.

  • Wow. That solo.

  • ohhhhh god this is fucking good.

  • Reminds me of Opeth, such beautiful changes from jazz to metal, thats what progressive is all about |m|

  • I know Ill get flamed but I think things could have been more epic if Blake Richardson became the new drummer of Dream Theater. Since being in DT, requires full time commitment, then he'll have to quit BTBAM. My choice for Blake's replacement would be Shannon Lucas from the Black Dahlia Murder.

DT with Blake Richardson and BTBAM with Shannon Lucas would be one hell of a band. :)))

  • @irwin3036able If that happened I would KILL myself

  • @irwin3036able I agree but i find that Blake's style goes much too well with BTBAM....but it would have been sick to hear him with DT

  • Blake RIchardson should have tried out for Dream Theater!!!

  • this is the beest song everrrr

  • The end sounds like magic just straight up unreal

  • Check out 'Freyja' by SONIQ ARMADA

  • @Tedothan NO an emphatic NO, u knosw what an emphatic NO is???

  • damn. I cannot understand anything what he says when he is growling/screaming or whatever he does. english is not my first language, yea, but even if I am following the lyrics, I cannot tell what he is saying, it's too messed up. anyway brilliant band !

  • Fuuuck, this is the most boring thing I've ever heard. Listen to asking alexandria if you want to STAY AWAKE while listening to music.

  • @undernorm you must not be a musician to not realize that these guys have an over abundance of pure talent. asking alexandria are like a high school garage band compared to these musical geniuses.

  • @santaslayer22 i agree. these guys are the absolute ipidemy of metalcore...

  • @sokolpunch *epitome. Sorry, you butchered it

  • @sokolpunch Metalcore? Not even close sir. Progressive Death metal. metalcore is a completely different genre then BtBaM

  • @094176 lol whoops. spaced that one...but they're still the ipidemy :P

  • @sokolpunch They're fucking awesome but they aren't metalcore :I

  • @santaslayer22 I wish I could like your comment for a full 72 hours.

  • @undernorm This is Prog. Prog isnt made for people of lower IQ such as yourself, for you wont understand it.

  • @undernorm CAN'T TELL IF TROLLING

    or just plain stupid

  • @ABleedingAurora Obvious troll is obvious. Now move along.

  • @undernorm

every asking song sounds the same and this is awesome

  • @undernorm You trollin.

  • @undernorm Obviously you don't have the mental capacity to understand and appreciate this kind of music.

And i'm not even calling you stupid. Seriously, not many people can understand the talent that goes into this stuff.

  • BtBaM aren't afraid to make good tracks that use more than a gallop or an E chug!

  • Ugh, this song is so old. I've listened to it a hundred times.

    Today.

  • @robinjam304

man, what are you talking about. This song can never get old

  • @cinsustana It's called sarcasm, love.

  • @robinjam304

Sarcasm shouldnt be portrayed in text. Just saying

  • @cinsustana Who said it couldn't.

  • i hope im not the only one who doesn't like screaming in metal

  • @robertjm194 You're not. As long as you don't think it's talentless or something, I'm ok with it!

  • Check out 'Freyja' by SONIQ ARMADA

  • No matter how good you get at your instrument, there will always be BTBAM, and they will always be better than you.

  • @JonFinneyDrums thant you perhaps

  • @JonFinneyDrums i like to think that BTBAM were born as a whole. And when they were, the doctor said: "Damn thats EPIC!" then his heart exploded.

  • this is so.....good!

  • @jonnyrokr it's not sublime, but it is brain melting lol

  • Anyone else notice the sublime whispering from 4:16 onwards? its so brain melting

  • go hear "The Primer Orchestral Cover", listen to it all, endings best part. goes to show BTBAM is Mozart reincarnated among 5 souls

  • Selkies (also known as silkies or selchies) are mythological creatures that are found in Faroese, Icelandic, Irish, and Scottish folklore.

They can shed their skin from seals to become humans.

Just incase you were wondering ;P

  • @VelaStorm7 the things you learn on google these days.

  • cool pic but....selkies are creatures near the ocean:)

  • @McPuffins509 albums called Alaska

  • 5:23 sounds like 95.5 radio station thing.

  • Best solo i´ve ever heard!

  • Comment removed

  • Who the fuck actually heard this and hit the dislike button? Go back to your fucking lady gag gag pop culture bullshit, and let us enjoy our music with actual soul.

  • damn wasn't expecting this, really good

  • 6:28 :)

  • BTBAM guitar hero?

  • can you believe this is only the second song ive ever heard by them, the first being a more acoustic song? how versatile are these guys!?!?! I LOVE IT.

  • this is helpin my headache go away...thnk gawd

  • i just got fucked in the ear

  • i never want that solo to end

  • 87 people don't understand true musicianship in metal.

  • L0:00L!

  • i have an endless obsession with this song

  • BTBAM have no genre... they are their own genre

  • @MyUsernameDoesntFit

    TOUCHE SIR! :)

  • I don't usually like this genre... whatever it is... but I gotta make an exception for btbam.

  • Happyisy solo ever. It makes me want to ride a unicorn and slay dragons then save the princess and ride off into the sunset. Thumbs up? Please?

  • CANNOT. STOP. REPLAYING.

  • it's BTBAM.

I bow to your godliness Paul, Dan, Blake, Dustie, Tommy.

  • that intro is definitely heavily King Crimson inspired.

  • If this isn't head bang enough, I'll die somewhere.
