Actually, Hoshi was his last name in the movie with Jean Claud Van Dam. Capcom never gave him a last name despite the fact that the original instruction booklet for the SNES game gave him the last name of Hayabusa.

Other than that.. Ryu has no last name nor has a past, hence why Shun is the main plot point in this movie.

@gamedesighner sure. in the end, the evil doctor, i forget his name, asked ryu why he was here, 'to save a fake brother that doesn't exist'. shun was a bio-droid too, just like the cyborg they fought. his job was just to invoke an emotional tie to ryu and make him get to mad he caved in to the dark hadou. now, HOW the doc got ahold of the dark hadou power to use in shun is anyones guess. but there was no shun. not in the sense of him being a real, living boy related to ryu.

@gaarathesandslayer not really. Because the whole point of the epic fight was for Ryu to save Shun. Shun wasn't dead when Ryu was fighting the guy. He was trying to save him and he died in his arms afterwards.

So it wouldn't have been for nothing, he was fighting to save Shun, the dark hadou and all that stuff wasn't because of Shuns death because it happened afterwards.

@DramaMC no, shuns NOT his brother. he is another cyborg, designed to study, and prompt ryu into unleashing the dark hadou so dr...er...whats his name can absorb it. the point was to give ryu something he loved, then snatch it away, drawing him closer to the dark side of his style, using hate, revenge and eventually, the 'murderous intent' that awakens the dark hadou. Shun does not exist, the evil doc even says so!

@LamonicBomb actually Shun does exist. You should watch his dying words to Ryu as to why he did what he did, he did not start out as a Cyborg, and most of what the guy made Shun say to Ryu was to provoke him. Shun was real and he had a true mother. So, no, he isn't a cyborg :P

@LamonicBomb also, not to mention that it's heavily implied in this particular canon that Akuma is the biological father of both Ryu and Shun, and not just that but in the generations canon it is also heavily implied that Akuma is Ryu's biological father. Don't ask me how that works out but according to Alpha canon in those particular movies Akuma is the person whom knocked Shuns mom up in this, and in the other somehow knocked Ryu's mother up :P So take from what what u will.
