the 2nd one is an HTC Blue Angel from 2004... you can have the OS of the newer HTC (the smaller one on your video) installed on that pocket PC... i have one like that with the 6.5.3 UI
I have to agree on this. Seems that 6.5 is done by somewhat small team and cheaply. The problem is exactly that, not much things has changed from version 2003 or hell.. even pocket pc 2000 is almost the same under the hood. Its same with microsoft desktop os:es and this comes down to win32. Microsoft has done very minor development these years and they wont unless they need to. So im very happy to see that microsoft is finally having some actual competition (apple and google).
Yes, we all know 6.5 wasn't what we hoped for. But it is a minor release. WM7 (when it eventually arrives) will be the real make or break. However, I do feel these comparisons a little unfair. You really went around the houses to change the ringtone, when there are easier ways via the OS. But then (unless I'm mistaken?) changed the ringtone on the Hero via the HTC UI, which would have been the equivalent of using TF3D on the WM device.
Lastly, I happily NEVER use the stylus on my WM6.1 Touch HD
you are so true it has not changed at all yes Apple has not changed the UI but it was amazing then like it is know so it does not need to changed it is still the market leader now.
Changing your background, you browse your images, and select from the menu "Set as wallpaper". It's also fairly obvious it's "today" as it has been in all the previous iterations of WM. On the iPhone, you can't change the background at all, without jailbraking.
The iPhone UI hasn't changed at all, so why are you complaining?
Also, it takes a lot more steps to change the ringtone in Android. And you can browse to a file and hit "Set as Ringtone".
its also about a good looking gui. another thing, i have a jb iphone and i dont want a background when i have my home screen up. it just looks cleaner and more professional. ill tell you why win mob sucks... browser, gui, stylist lol, usually big bulky phones, poor selection of choice of apps, and the list goes on and on. so what does win mob have on iphone or android if you wanna talk up win.
I'm not feeling you on the ring tone thing. You just hit phone button/menu/options and you're right there at the ring tones - no need to go to sounds and notifications tab. IE still sucks and yes, the other menus are still stylus driven. On a big screen it's not bad, but it seems like such a small thing to reskin the interfaces to be finger friendly that this bad press is deserved. However, I still like WM.

Maybe it was a little unfair, but the points he made still stand. The lack of improvement (or almost any change at all) to the OS is unacceptable.

Changing tabs in 6.5 you can swipe etc.
