Heard it talks hears and smells? :P really? i want it but its like 6000+ CAD right now so i guess it will have to wait :) but i would love to see how it will talk and hear...
If someone writes up a program like that used in seaman on the old dreamcast ... man that would be AWESOME.
Battery life is always the problem tho... cant wait fo witricity :)
I wish i had one of these. of course, i don't have $6000 to kill...Maybe i can pick up a used one off eBay or something, if i can find one under $200.
if it was really good at vacuum cleaning it could be great in a large house. also it could be a baby monitor with wireless connection and house watcher over the internet.
and down the road it could have some simple arms so it could open doors and cabins and stuff
I like the idea of a robot but it should be faster and have a more silent drive. maybe direct or near direct drive on some large servos from china. this stepper motor looking motion is not.. you know.
maybe also base it on miniatx or nanoitx boards and lose the 5.25 slots. that's so old school when we have large capacity flash now.
then there's the issue of uselessness. maybe build in a water filter based vacuum cleaner to help the rich guy justify the nasty price tag.
The 914 is a robot in it's own right, built around standard PC parts - so those are standard 5.25" drive bays in it's back and front (8 in total). It contains a mini-itx board, hard disk etc, and runs Windows or Linux. It will run for 4 hours of mixed usage on a full charge, although you could potentially increase the battery capacity if you filled up some of that drive bay space with batteries instead of CD ROM drives etc.
what is it's function?
