Just played this for the first time yesterday. I was a bit concerned with this game at first, as western genres aren't really my thing. But I have to say I was more than impressed. I'm a huge GTA fan and this is basically Grand Theft Auto with horses instead of cars - which ain't a bad thing! And the setting and views are breath-takingly beautiful.

Rockstar are one of the few developers who care about the quality of their product rather than just how much money it makes. This is the reason Rockstar's games are the best unlike activision who have to rush out a call of duty every year to make money. The games that come out annually for Rockstar are that have been worked on for 5 or 6 years. The only thing Rockstar don't get right is the melee combat which in GTAIV and RED DEAD REDEMPTION is shit.
I don't know what it is with R* games with me I'm always excited to play them because they look fun to play but I'm always let down and bored and find myself just dragging along through it

MULTIPLAYER QUESTION: Is it possible to disable auto-aiming in multiplayer?? i don't like multyplayers with auto-aiming system, or there's a host who can disable it in the match?
This is the best game ever. My favorite game. It was the first game I bought when I got my PS3 and damn am I happy. I've beat it like 5 times and I'm still playing it.
If you haven't played this game, it's an absolute must. I made the mistake of renting it and had a hard time getting into it after I quit playing for a few months.

it would be cool if they could make a red dead set in the civil war era (kinda like call of juarez bound in blood) or a game set in modern times and you play as jacks great grandson in modern day new austin wouldnt that be pretty cool?

They should really do a #2 red dead redemption but with a focus on Native American tribes or clansmen, and how North America came to be as it is to day with settlers like John Marsden, etc. coming over to claim land and place Indians on reserves
There are seriously so many opportunities with that storyline, either playing as a native indian protecting territory, or a Frenchmen or Englishman coming over and trying to take over their lands. Creating treaties, making deals, etc. Would be amazing.
@KillerKid playing as Native americans would not be exciting as they have no sort of firearm weaponry and rockstar has never been known for excellent melee combat system. Being as an englishmen or frenchmen would be ok though but I don't see rockstar doing that.
@SuperMicklovin They have tomahawks, Bow and arrows, with different types of arrows ranging from steel to poison, they have poison darts. They used guns too once the settlers came over from Europe (they would exchange firearms for food and fur, etc) They could hold pow wows in the community, play lacrosse. There is literally a whole new game to play if Rockstar would make it.
Very well done game. Only thing I wanted more was interaction options with people, and more shops and more things to buy in the shops, for example things for customization and weapons. Basically I want everything the game offered but multiply everything they had by 5. Because it was easy to make money, but there was nothing to buy. Something RDR2 maybe can offer.
In hindsight, this game is probably one of my all time favourites. It's certainly one of the most memorable games I've ever played from a stylist perspective, not to mention the engrossing story and extremely well written characters and dialogue.
Definitely my favorite game. It met my expectations, beat them actually. Bought it the day it came out, and I still never get bored. Going on my third 100%. It's just so amazing. Can't wait until max payne 3. Go rockstar!

I'm a little disturbed by the number of folks who missed out on the final mission. Hint: once you take control of Jack, the story isn't over. Some players seem to think it is.
This game is truly one of the best i have ever played. Ive completed it to 100% and reached top rank online and loved every second of it. The campaign missions are perfect, the scenery is beautiful and the overall feel is stunning. The mulitplayer is so entertaining, whether playing free roam or doing gang matches. The weapons are very fun to shoot and so you aren't limited to just using one weapon every time, each gun has a interesting feel to it. The horses are also the most realistic ever.
Just like alot of people, I still like playing red dead redemption online but the servers are abandoned... wich is sad. I hate asking for this, but can I get thumbs up just so everyone can see this. Add me so we can play online together, competitive and free roam.

I loved the story of this game but I didn't really understand what was going on until near the end of the game. Plus I almost never got use to the odd controls. Even though the story was absolutely touching I don't know if it truly deserved a rating this high.

@jbestz1 GTA4 raised the standards, then RDRedemption raised them even higher. Game rating is the rating at time of release, if GTA4 was reviewed again after RDR... then it would get a way lower score.

@jbestz1 GTA4 raised the standards, then RDRedemption raised them even higher. Game rating is the rating at time of release, if GTA4 was reviewed again after RDR... then it would get a way lower score.
