You got a ton of machines man. You should turn your basement into a glowing neon paradise! Put a few 6x9 speakers and a couple subs in there too with 80's music blasting and your set.
@urbanexplorer1996 hey, keep those 8-tracks if you can. Those are rare as well. I still have about 3 of 4, I know one is of Johnny Mathis and one is of Alice Cooper.
Hey nice collection man i envy you..ive been collecting rare games and consoles and just bought my first ever Donkey Kong Arcade Cabinet..its just a matter of time now when i get the space ill probably turn into someone like you hehe
dude your basement is heaven.Starwars,Robotron,Gyruss,Tron are my favorite video games ever (you need a Defender as well) i like the refubishment you do as well, nice one buddy keep up the great work.If i only lived in the states LOL
Do u go to Arcade game auctions U can pick up A lot of good games really reasonable there. I saw A Pac Man game go for $300 the cabinet needed some work
I used to hit a lot of the "golden years" of Arcade auctions. Between the mid 90's and early 2000's the auctions were worth attending but since then the rarities have all dried up and been placed in collectors hands. Auctions are fun for new collectors but for older ones they are regarded as junk movers.
I did own Paperboy. I found unapplied (NOS) blue Hunt Wilde grips for it and I think I paid $150 for them alone lol. Ended up selling them for $90 I think.
You have an amazing gameroom! A+. If you get a chance checkout our gameroom video on youtube. My wife limited me to one row of 9 in our basement. If not for her...the bug hit me hard,
I'd have at least 20-30 by not. Like you I still buy and restore games around the area.
I pretty much have the 9 I want and in my mind wonder if I should swap my Space Ace ded. for a DK ded. I have both on my Mame...It's a toss up.
wow i myself am a retro gamer but i probably wold go with a different altenative such as the marvel vs series time crisis 2 or 3 and maybe a dance dance revolution(maybe) also teneage mutan ninja turtles and all that good stuff
This guy needs to remeber to "use the force" (not firing in the trench for bonus points). And Mame is no replacement for the original machines, which I need to buy.
The last superauctions event I went to had a very nice upright that went for around 1K. It was very, very nice and played very well. I kicked ass playing it!!! It was fun as hell. Keep an eye out on local auctions, though the SW games aren't common at them. :(
I have always been a sucker for the vector games. I have a pretty nice battlezone that I still love. Looking for a Tempest (that's works !!) and of course, a SW.
I only have a Space Duel (Great shape, but aren't all SD's usually pretty nice?) and an Asteroids Deluxe which isn't as nice as I wish. A Tempest just sold locally for $400 and it was dead and in about 7/10 shape... Too much IMO. I like nearly all vectors, even Armor Attack!
Very well done segment, much better than most I have seen. Usually these type of segments are two minutes with a goober host that acts like they have never even seen an arcade machine in their life. Thanks for posting this.
Sweeeeeeeeet!! i'd love to have classics from the 80's and early 90's!! i love the arcade cabinet artwork on the sides and the lite up banner on the front. coool stuff!!

Do you know whats sad about this clip,Space Invaders,Astoroids,Defender & Mooncrest are nowhere to be seen, but i think i did catch a glimpse of my other fav...Frogger, the music used to drive you nuts
I was pleased to see Moon Patrol among the collection. That game used to defile me and my entire ancestry everytime I walked down to the pizzeria, but it was a beauty to play repeatedly even though I sucked at it. And play repeatedly I did. :-)
what a life... computer programmer, & all those beautiful arcade machines from time gone by. and did you see the house at the begining. wow, shame about the shoddy t.v channel covering it.
Too much Pac-Man Fever will make you sick. Halfway through this piece, I was thinking, "Enough of that song already!" Great job, Tim, for preserving an important part of pop culture. I'm a nostalgic, too, and appreciate everything you're doing!
Um, I happen to have mame and tons of roms, let me tell you, the real thing is much more fun. Having a real cabinet is one of the coolest things ever, I would know because I'm working on one.
MAME just aint the same! These old games had great artwork, beautifully made cabinets, you need to whole tactile experience to really bring back your childhood.
Heh, the wood and hot electronics even smelled great! :-P
A little arrogant and presumptuous of you hoverdown3k... Actually I DO know about MAME... I've been a MAME enthusiast for many years and I am sorry but even with ALL HAPP or any other genuine 80's arcade controls it STILL aint the same.
You could build a whole cabinet and use an ultimarc graphics card but there is still no way of getting things like the light boards at either side of the screen in Gorf or the steering wheel with the "weapons van" button in Spy Hunter. You'd need to change the controls and add interchangeable light boards, marques and artwork for every single game!
I was actually afraid of Wizard of Wor when I was a kid....in case you don't remember the game says "In...Sert....Coin" at random times when no one is playing it....that scared me as a 10 year old..LOL.
And I saw Stunt Cycle in that video too. I remember playing Stunt Cycle way back even before I was ten years old, and I was a bit sad that Stunt Cycle didn't get any face time in the video. Not for the upright version. You can get one of those in average shape from 500-700 if you look around.
The cockpit version can get that 5K price when in minty condition! The UR can maybe make 2K if someone has deep pockets and wants a local one.
